I'm pretty sure Freedom is hostile to Ecologists because Wolfhound and his crew were originally Freedomers in later pre-release builds, which got changed to prevent you from making one of the major factions hostile unintentionally

Me at first time playing: both faction has their own ideology, but yeah I don't mind. I guess I just go neutral
30 minutes later: defeat both all Freedom army because their loot and all Duty army because that "get out of here, stalker" guy annoyed me (just for fun)

I am also astonished by the fact you can officially join freedom. Will definitely try it out in my next playthrough and I already completed the vanilla game for over 30 times and a few times with mods. Still there is new stuff to find out which is due to the fact that the world of stalker is so unpredictable! Keep it up!

I have played this game 500 times and never in my life expected that you could join a faction, let alone freedom. Also, fun fact: The quote "Death solves all problems, no man, no problem." spoken by the Bandit who executed the Duty Hostage, is actually a quote from Anatoly Rybakov, who was a Soviet-Ukrainian Tank Commander during WW2 and later became a writer after the war ended. He wrote anti-Stalinist books.....as well as children books.

Also, your video on standalone mods was really helpful, i started playing Goldsphere and its very fun, sadly i had to restart 4 times for quest "glitching".
Alright, good then. I don't remember having many problems with Goldsphere, but much like every mod it seems to run completely differently from player to player and PC to PC so I'm not surprised.

Wow, still learning a lot about this game, thanks for this! Do all the faction relations still change if you only become friendly with Freedom, as opposed to joining them entirely? I know at least once I've shown up to the Wild Territory only to find with surprise that Mercs were neutral to me and Scientists were hostile, and I don't recall ever figuring out how to join Freedom so maybe it was just because I had done a lot of missions for them?
I'm not sure if you can change the relations that much, but it's possible. You can be friend with both Duty and Freedom, that's for sure.
You can join duty as well and be friendly with both factions. Didn't know about bandits, that's cool af!

i actually learnt it via another video,i just didnt find out cuz i experienced a bug so i cant become freedom
That's the reason i loved Clear Sky, i would always join Freedom and massacre Duty soldiers in the Red Forest, with SRP you can fix most of the bugs so Clear Sky is actually a really enjoyable game.
Yeah, the concept of faction wars in Clear Sky was a great addition.
For me, it's smiting the entire freedom base with Skull and the boys. Freedom will always be weak and incompetent hippies that are easily disposed of by a single Duty squad. Pathetic.

try clear sky in vanilla,its not a crash after 1 sec,its still good (i have done vanilla,its not impossible complete mod girls)
@@southernbrain691 I mean i personally prefer all STALKER games to be as original as they can be. I used ZRP for SoC, SRP for CS, and i played is CoP without any mods.

I remember doing something like this by accident. However, only the Duty was hostile. The rest was just chilling on neutral or friendly. But then I started modding and messing around with .ini files. I made myself neutral and friend with everyone to find new dialogs.
Yeah the faction relations sometimes work in strange ways.

this was really interesting video i didnt know before that you could join freedom in soc and what it changes you should do more videos like this hidden/secrets in cop i know that you can pick up gauss rifle from the air and you can use it right away and that you can do bloodsucker lair quest without poison gas and that uncle yar can repair your gear if you press x

Thanks for the great video. I had some cheats wich made me able to join factions. And i played the story mode while being different factions for example. Im going to try if i can talk with monolith as a monolithian
Alright, thanks. Yeah playing with this kind of cheat can be fun.
There is actually a small difference betwen the unadjusted and adjusted psy-helmet but it does not affect the gameplay: when you wear the unadjusted one, the voices you hear when entering an area with psy-emissions are much more louder, while wearing an adjusted helmet, you can barely hear them or not hear them at all.
That definitely effects gameplay then. That changes something that, can be a major distraction to a minor if not non-existent one.
I actually did this one by accident when i was a kid, i knew that duty was gonna be mad, but i didn't understand why the ecologist attacked me

Thanks. I'm not planning to talk much about mods, at least not yet. There are already a ton of things to cover in the vanilla games and I want to focus on that first.

I'm not 100% sure but I think I managed to join Freedom once when I made a lot of jobs for them. After finishing another one I automatically become a Freedom member

I don't know how but I manage to be friends with Duty and Freedom. All I did was do Lukash side quest (except killing Duty leader) and Duty Leader's (I forgot if there was a quest for killing freedom leader but I didn't do it either way). and then I helped random Freedom/Duty members in the area, like help them fight off the monolith, anomalies, bandits, etc. then my PDA shows both of them (be it in Bar/Freedom) that they're green instead of yellow. and I noticed it after I finished visiting lab X18 where Duty and Freedom are fighting each other. Forgive my English I'm not very good at it.
Yes, that's possible if you help both factions without taking the missions that lead to direct confrontation. Props to you for assisting both sides!

I did the barrier then right after the Monolith attack I talk to Cap, right after I did that another camp defense mission appeared and no Monolith, no mutants. I got back to Lukas gives me the money and asks me to do one more thing and says were friends but I can't finish the mission. Either way if I leave the mission alone exit the map or refuse I don't get to join Freedom.
Great video, now a lot of stuff make sense to me now .i have a question related to freedom. During my most recent playtrough ,i was thinking off doing all of the faction stuff in free roam after the c conciousness ending so i tried to stay away from factions war . but before going to the brain scortcher, i was allowed to talk to the duty leader for missions. I was thinking about joining freedom in free roam but all of the missions the leader showed me were not about entering the war of duty freedom . I accepted two quests :to bring a grenade launcher and a trs sniper that is surrounded by mercs .so i went and did the grenade laucher one first since i know that there is a grenade launcher in a basement in one house in the village with all the bloodsuckers. so i brought it without talking to the cook and without entering the freedom base or the duty farm. Then i went to do the sniper quest , i knew that freedom and mercs arent in a war and i did kill a few mercs to help kruglov. So i got the sniper after killing the mercs then gave it to the leader. After that , i went back in freedom territory and skull asked me for the sniper mission wich i denied and the sniper still showed as red on the map . My conclusion was that one quest out of the kruglov one, grenade launcher one and sniper one made freedom hostile to me. Since i would like i another playtrough to join freedom , what do you think made freedom hostile so that i dont make the same mistake again.
First of all, the standard game does not offer freeplay after the ending, so I assume you are using a mod. If that's the case, it is possible that this mod has an influence on faction relations. From my experience, after doing everything exactly as you described it, you should still be neutral with Freedom. Stealing the grenade launcher and the sniper TRS do not affect your relations with Freedom as far as I know. Therefore, it is probably just a bug. Have you checked if only the sniper is enemy or if everyone in Freedom is ? I ask this because the mission to kill the sniper has a lot of bugs, so even though you did not accept to do it, it is possible that it bugged out.

@@drkace8894 Okay, I'm not sure then. I did the same missions for Duty and was still neutral with Freedom. Maybe if you do some jobs for Freedom as well before doing the Duty jobs, your reputation with them will first increase, preventing them from becoming enemies afterwards. You can repel the monolith at the barrier and clean the bloodsuckers from the village for example.
My first play through I guess I accidentally joined freedom bc when I went back to 100 rads I had to kill all of duty and the stalkers I was so confused.

Yes, I do not understand either. I think they are supposed to deliver the prisoner to the factory, just like the other one shown before, but they disobey Borov's order and stay in the camp instead.

I did this by accident? On my first playthrough I completely screwed myself and couldn't get back to the bar because duty was now 100% hostole towards me
I like how the Bandit was casually telling the Duty hostage to jump in the pit and of course casually accepted to execute him, then he yells some stuff in Ukrainian/Russian lol

Am I missing something out? I'm pretty sure you can join Duty in Shadow. I remember performing different tasks for Duty and then the option to join appear in the dialog with Voronin. I joined and all Freedom fighters became enemies for me.
That's strange. Maybe you were using a mod, because as far as I know, joining Duty "officially" is impossible.

2:03 You can take that oath in Oblivion Lost and it's phrased the exact same way. Or you can have Sid make you a Duty member (or a member of any other faction) right from the start. As a pragmatic "man of balance," I prefer to keep both Freedom and Duty as trading partners, so I always go ecologist.
4:00 Technically, taking out Skull and his splinter group is in keeping with General Voronin's agenda. Voronin is more strategically savvy than Skull, understanding that the ceasefire between Freedom and Duty allows both factions to spread out their manpower, with Freedom defending the Barrier to the north while Duty guards Rostok and the southern CzechPoint at Garbage. In Oblivion Lost, Duty will conduct operations in the Wild Territory and act as guards in Yantar. Actually, I think they do that in ShoC too.
5:57 According to the Zone Encyclopedia on your PDA in ShoC, Freedom conducts raids on ecologist operations, seeing them as "exploiters" of the Zone or whatever. In Oblivion Lost, being an ecologist makes you friends with both Freedom and Duty. And in Anomaly, ecologists are at least neutral with Freedom, Duty, AND mercs (which means the mercs are likely employed by someone other than whomsoever-go-nuts was employing Wolfhound and his posse).

I helped Freedom till they turned green. They were friendly, so I thought about visiting Duty for a change. Borderguards didn't shoot me but HQ troops did.
Yeah faction relations are quite buggy in some instances.
When i joined freedom by accident one time i really thought it would be possible to join duty but that never happened in years so i thought maybe you can only join freedom but no other faction. And checking on wiki gave me affirmative answer.
The fact that Ecologists are hostile against Freedom is probably because the mission involving the Mercenaries and the Ecologists' helicopter was initially regarding Freedom.
Since Freedom troups can't reach the Wild Area, or even reach Yantar, the developers never felt the need to remove this relationship.

I did all of this on my first playthrough not even trying to join Freedom but cap died at the battle with monolith so even if I was doing it to join freedom it wouldn't have worked lmao

Probably a cut feature that the devs forgot to remove.
Seeing how intricate most of the procedures here that must be performed in order to join a single faction, I assume you can only join 1 faction during a single playthrough. If that so, that means by joining a particular faction you can either make that playthrough harder or easier (such as bandit ignoring you, cheaper price on more powerful NATO weaponry, what's supposed to be allies now attacking you and some mission becomes unplayable because of inter-faction relationship)
Yeah, it will have some benefits but also cause some problems.
i don't want to join freedom becaus i'll lose my trading entry from bar and if i can't acess bar i can't go to the starter base
You should make a theory video on if Strelok's death truck never crashed.
You mean, where was the truck heading ? I think it was going straight for the military checkpoint. That way, it is guaranteed to stay in the Zone, even if it means being intercepted by the army.

Then again it is a mod. Good to know theres a bug that allows joining Freedom but with weird consequences.
Well, there are so many mods that allow to join factions, so I think sticking to vanilla prevents from getting into a rabit hole if you see what I mean.

My first playthrough i accidentally did this and legit started wondering what the hell i did to piss off other factions. It didn't even occur to me you couldn't join factions in SOC after that point.

I clearly remember i could join duty\freedom, and i was sure this was a thing on patch 1.003, but apparently not. Memory is funny thing, looks like i mistaken some mod for original game with 1.003 patch. Hm.
Perhaps it was possible in 1.003 and was removed later, but I could not find any evidence of that.

I just finished the game today and i went to this fraction and became an enemy to the bar xD
But it was a bug tho, cause i killed the monsters for the people defending from monoliths and than the game told me to go to this „lukasch“ for reward or smth or it just poped up on the map like he had a mission. So i went there and than i got nothing, i only had the dialog that some troups have a base near them and boom i was one of them😂
I did not even thought about the other ones cause i thought they are normal bandits or some shit, but they were neutral to me💀 I just killed them because they had no mission for me, i past them on the road at the beginning and i only had the offer to speak to lukasch so what the hell am i supposed to do.. Game had some bug with side missions you should only kill animals and sesrch stuff if you talk to some dude first give you the mission, or find pda from dead guys. Otherwise it pops up and bugs all time on map, was a litte bit annoying. But hey its from 2007 better than most games out from 2020s

First time I played I helped skull kill the people at the freedom base because I thought he would give me his cool armor (he didn't), and then when I went to the barrier I had to fight both monolith and freedom and I swear to God it felt like hey were teaming up against me

In the attic of one the buildings in the Freedom base.

The only reasonable explanation about Mercs and Freedom being neutral is Hog, Scar and Kostyan from Clear Sky. Assuming Scar is a mercenary, Hog sent Scar to Kostyan so that he can secure the warehouses, while Scar transmits the radio signal for the stranded mercenaries.
For the Ecologists, now that's very confusing. They don't do anything wrong in Clear sky. They are dormant, they don't even do much outside the bunker. Who worked for the Ecologists are the Loners, not Themselves.

@@anomalousdugout9557 It's just because of two man, one directly and one indirectly (Hog saving Kostyan and Scar helping the squad) the entire Freedom faction got control over the Military Warehouses.
Fun fact, the 5.56 NATO round in the game is typo'd in the code. It's written SS190, which is a 5.7mm round. The actual name of it should be SS109. Both of them made by Belgium's FN Herstal.
Extra note, love your videos! These theories and questions just made my mind refreshed after what happened to the world the past 2 years.
