I backed this too and looking forward to printing it all out. Agree, theres an X factor in the minecraft type feel. I imagine this could work well with kids and more of a collaborative effort in building a dungeon together with multiple hands. Excellent video again - so comprehensive!
Yes, absolutely, kids would love putting these dungeons together--if I had these as a kid, I would have spent hours just making different dungeons and using my imagination to play out fantasy scenarios!
This is a huge amount of tiles, wow! I love this set too, I like how they're evocative yet simple in design, this makes them quick to paint too. I highly recommend backing the Frontier.
Love it! I'm in the process of printing them, myself. I love the potential this set provides - especially with multiple level dungeons. Nice job getting all that done in the short amount of time.
I was so tempted by this set, but I ultimately think I'm going with Dragon Rest. The blocks look like they need a lot more storage space than the flat tiles and walls.
One of the best parts of this system is the block base can be hollowed to fit LED lights, switch and battery. I'm in the process of making my torches flicker with some LEDs at the moment.
Absolutely love this. I am replacing my Dragon's Rest "slim board" that i've used until now. This gives alot of freedom to make your own dungeon plus the option to make actual stairs and levels when playing the HQ expansion Keller's Keep. You need to make some paint-tutorial-video with this......i can watch those over and over. Love your style of painting Do you have any "grass-top" you prefer to use if FDM printing ? Like you i would love to have other floor-tiles with grass for example. but can't seem to find a good one that looks great when done.
this is so awesome.. could you provide a list of what you printed please? im kinda having trouble considering how many of each thing to print and your setup looks amazing…
@@gaminggeek241 honestly I thought exactly the same. Sure lets do it! If you need something let me know i provide you with files and help. Love your CHANNEL!
this campaign is just insane... but maaan, your mode is god dmn awesome! wow! I saw your comment under campaign and now they are shared your video! :) seems like I have to subscribe your patreon xD coz really interested how to modify and maka custome tiles (easy way)
Overture is what I used but they don't make this transparent blue anymore. I see Hatchbox has a transparent blue but it looks darker than mine. Another option is to go with silk instead of transparent.
Ah man, this looks like a cool system but I haven't printed out the few I have bought already! I was hoping they would have integrated your improvements, like a few others that you have shown off have.
I could be wrong but I think you can sell your custom pieces since you made them and they might not technically own the idea of stackable dungeon tiles (This is not legal advice)
So I bought this set! And I love it! Been printing it nonstop for 3 days now. BUT I made a change to the 3x3 bases. I kinda like that I don't have to print big 6x6 grids. but can just print 3x3 easy and quick. Tho I would love to get the more "Sturdy feeling" of a bigger piece. SO I did a remix of the 3x3 grid that makes you able to put down 4 6x2mm magnets into the grid so they will snap together. Is there anywhere I can share this file with the creators so that they can add it to the custom tile pack? (The reason I chose 6x2mm is that they are the far cheapest to buy in Denmark, a pack of 200 cost 65DKK = 9.5 USD, then shipping from Amazon DE is 60 DKK = 8.8 USD).
You can message them through MyMiniFactory, which is what I did. But for the most part, they have been pretty selective with adding things to be available to everyone.
I always Prime and then undershade. Not all craft paints are crap, you get what you pay for. Heavy body acrylics can be thinned and are very economical to use
You need a MyMiniFactory account as the files are delivered there. You will receive a link once you purchase to access the files which you can then download onto your computer from your MMF account.
I am having a hard time finding a translucent blue filament like the one used to print these water tiles. Can anyone recommend a brand to get that shade of blue?
I've been looking for a dungeon tile set. If you could only pick one, which would you choose? Sounds like it might be between Dragon's Rest and Dungeon Blocks. Or a combination of these systems?
Man, that's a hard question to answer. Like I mentioned in the video, Dragon's Rest is still my number one because I love that you can magnetize everything (altho you don't have to) and I can print pre-assembled floors in any configuration I want for quicker setup. Plus, it is pretty cheap because you just need to pay the $9 to be a Patreon supporter and that gives you access to every single file, which is insane. BUT, I have to say there is something super fun about the simplicity of dropping blocks into a grid without the need for connectors and slowly printing out your collection that has the same emotional satisfaction as playing Minecraft or Dragon Quest Builders. You can always do what I am doing which is get both and port over the huge number of Dragon's Rest tiles, walls, and doors to Dungeon Blocks and that will give you more variety then you will ever use.
could you tell me your paint process for the blocks please? :D is it just.. black pla > dark grey primer > light grey drybrush > paint details? thanks!
Need more information--are the grids not printing at all? Lifting from the build plate? I have used the same settings throughout the project, although I may have increased the layer height to .3 mm for the grids.
@@gaminggeek241 The corners are curling up and the layer, about halfway through the print, gets too high and the nozzle knocks the whole thing off the plate. I’ve monitored as it goes, and lifted the nozzle accordingly, but the print layers just got too high from, what I imagine to be, cooling too fast. Nozzle set at 200, bed at 60. Tiles print just fine.
@@Animaedamnatae Hmm, that sounds like a bed adhesion issue. Have you tried using a brim? Also, try lowering your fan speed to lower the cooling and/or to raise the nozzle up to 215.
My question is would these be worth the price tag, or do I need to look at dragons rest. I like the simplicity of these and not having to add magnets or other things but 80 bucks seems a little steep compared to most other ones I'm seeing.
Yeah, it was a better deal during the campaign when it was $55. I know they are going to have their second campaign later this month (July) so maybe they will offer the dungeon set at a discount then?
Thanks for the compliment! You know, others have asked for gameplay videos but I find them to be super boring and hard to edit! But maybe I can just show some shots of us playing a couple different games.
Some local libraries have 3D printers you can use for free. Major cities have maker spaces you can join which is sort of like a co-op. Otherwise, you will need to pay a 3D printing service to do it for you, but honestly, it's more cost effective to get your own at that point.
@@gaminggeek241 Not where I live :( Edit. What I mean is, it's a very low chance that any Library in Poland has a 3D printer and if any, it would probably be only in the biggest cities and only available for people working there.
