Fun fact- this song was leaked, Em had no intention of releasing it. You can hear him slurring his words because he he was crying and had been drinking so he just freestyled this.
Not drinking , this was recorded in 2006-07 and leaked in 2011, 2006-07 he was addicted to pills he was most likely high, not drunk, never heard that he freestyled it maybe in some parts idk

He says rings but I remember reading years ago that they were actually cuff links. That probably didn't fit as well.
I still get a chill when i hear it even though i know it's coming.
The jacket part always gets me. I done the same with my twin daughters blanket. They were born too early, I heard the last breath they took and I felt their small bodies go cold as I was holding them, and then hours later I had to hand them over to the coroner. I held that blanket for years. Smelling it, crying into it and then I lost it along with their hospital pictures, their footprints and everything else that I had for them to a house fire. They would be 15 years old this year. I was a teen mom. Only 15 when I first experienced death and it was my own daughters. I had to bury them just a short 3 days later. I still suffer everyday to still exist. God that part hits me so hard. 😞

This was an unfished song Em recorded between Proofs death and the Relapse album. (2007ish) The spots where there is no rapping is where the hook was supposed to go. It leaked around 2011. The rings were stolen by his mom from proof, somehow Marshall and his brother Nate got them back in some way.

Everytime i listen to this because it's so bitter sweet in so many differnt ways. A homage to his best friend but at the same time the peak of his addiction that almost killed him. Just hearing him slur so much is hard to listen to. RIP DeShaun and congratulations on your sobriety Marshall. Also, you're absolutely right, say i love you to your loved ones while you can, i took it for granted as a young man with my nan many years ago and i still remember my last visit vividly. Life is never too busy for you and your loved ones. Health is number 1 for everyone in your life including you so take care everyone and enjoy the moments we have and cherish the ones you did. Some reports say this was sung entirely in one take by em. Barely able to hold himself together in the studio. This is not a song for the masses it’s a song for em. A way for him to express his pure grief at the loss of someone so dear to him. Not sure if the story is true but I always like to believe it.

This is actually an unfinished song. This was before he added the chorus or did any of the mixing or mastering which is why it sounds so rough around the edges. This is a song he had in the vault and wasn’t going to release, but it leaked because I guess someone he was in the studio with at the time grabbed it and leaked it. EMINEM is very careful about his stuff. If he wants you on a song either you record your part first and send it to him or he has you in the studio with him and he never emails people songs like other artists do. If he wants you to hear it to get you on the project or to get your opinion on a song he will burn it to a CD and meet up with you and drive around the city with you listening to the song just loud enough so only you inside the car can hear what you’re listening to. Affirmative action was put in place specifically for the purpose of fighting racism in colleges and in the workplace where they were going by the legacy system which favored white people.
Don’t know if anyone’s asked yet, but you should add ‘White America’ to your Eminem to-do list. It’s a brilliantly powerful rap-rock song about his success and censorship and racism in the music industry- it’s awesome. If you do hear it, it’s probably best to go with a lyric video since the official music video is heavily censored… which is ironic considering that’s exactly what the song is about lol.

just for the record this was Eminem at his lowest point with losing proof and at the height of his drug addiction, this song was leaked and was never meant to be heard.
Answer to your Q: he hasn't used Proof's music here but has sampled it a few times since. The song wasn't meant to be released which is why it sounds different. I believe this was in the period of his drug abuse, and he kind of sounds slurred like he might be high. Others will know better than me on that.

The Playboy Rings he’s referring to are a set of rings Proof was gifted from the mansion, which Eminem’s mom stole and lied about for years. Nate, Em’s brother, stole them back from Debbie, which Em then placed in his casket. Later, when he refers to punching someone in the face, he’s referring to the member Proof had beef with, but refused to say his name, to not give him publicity. He swore on all three of his daughters names that he would punch him the next time they cross paths. I believe this is the only time he’s ever swore on all three of their names. OB is OB Trice, a fellow rapper and friend.

The Obie version is not official. Obie just added the hook by himself after the song leaked. Also they called eachother Doody and not Dudey, so the title don’t even make sense.
One of Proof's sons, Nasaan, actually makes music too. He's really talented and recently started doing his own music videos.
The entire 'Kiss of Karma' EP shows really strong storytelling, and his newer songs have an early-Eminem kind of feel in that they're very humorous and the videos are equally funny with lots of random details. He's also done a freestyle over the 'Without Me' beat, and a freestyle called 'Underrated' where he mentions Proof and Eminem, "RIP out to P like his blood not what I bleed" and "yet still i walk in Marshall's office and act like im the fcking greatest".

This song is unfinished and was never meant to be released. It got leaked. That's why there are awkward pauses where a hook would likely go later on, but the song never got finished. This was during his heavy drug and alcohol use so he is slurring his words and makes some mistakes during his word choices.

Around 2000, Bizarre (D12) and Proof (D12) make a song with Royce and Billy Nix (D-Elite, one of Royces groups) called "Dont Try This At Home", basically Bizarre said "Bitches know my name without the Slim Shady Song (Bad Meets Evil)" and also "Fuck Wall Street" (One of Royce's Group) over the beat, this pissed Royce off so made a remix of Shit On You where he dissed Bizarre and also the other members of D12, most importantly Bugz who died the year past, he didnt release it but he kept it vaulted
Later 3 years later Royce said on a radio interview that D12 wasnt a good group (Except Eminem and Proof), so D12 made a disstrack called "Smackdown", then Royce released Shit On You then the beef escelated, other disstracks like Proof's "Many Men Remix" and "Beef Is Ova", Royce's "Malcom X", "We Ridin" and "What We Do" and D12's Limited Edition Mixtape being a reverse tribute to Royce and even Eminem mentioned in "Conspiracy Freestyle".
So then Royce and Proof has a standoff in the streets and they both got arrested and they settled the beef from adjoining prison cells in summer of 03, they did some tours and before his death they had a song called "When I Was Young" and Royce and Tre Little (D-Elite) appeared on Proof's Hand 2 Hand Mixtape before Proof died.
