And the success of this movie/soundtrack led to "Ghostbusters" theme because Huey and the News didn't want to be typecasted musicians. So "new drug" was stolen and immortalized.
One detail that is rarely talked about is when Marty goes back to 1985, the ledge that Doc almost fell off of at the clocktower in 1955 hadn't been repaired.
The movies are chock full of little details like this... It is what makes them so brilliant and it really shows how much love and thought was put into these movies... And the tension building without blood, gore and overtly violent scenes is just brilliant. Brilliant writing and brilliant acting and directing. Masterpieces...
I just love how Marty, even if he is a small guy is always ready to fight to defend himself or the people he loves. You don't want to fight with Marty haha
I watched this w my mom a few years ago and it was so hilarious. She often says ‘Great Scot” and while watching the movie she would often say it right before doc would. 😂😂😂😂
The "Power of Love" song is soooo iconic. One of my favorite Synthwave artists, The Motion Epic, did a cover of it and it bangs just as much as the original.
One of my first jobs was at a theatre in Lacey, Washington and in the breakroom hung a framed letter from Universal Pictures telling us how amazing and how thankful for our theatre showing Back to the Future for 52 weeks straight. This movie was huge when it game out
I used to live next to the mall in this movie. Rowland Heights, Ca. Not to long ago, i was driving on the freeway near Disneyland and saw a decked out DeLorean like the movie, drive past me. Same plate "OUTATIME."
It's a really fun film to rewatch, as you notice more and more details. With "modern" Hollywood writing, they'd just rub all the details on your face all the time, and it would only have half of them. Right away, we hear the news about the plutonium on the TV, explaining where it came from. Einstein's food bowl is full, suggesting Doc was out of town ("working" with the Libyans to make them a fake bomb) for a good while. Marty's antics with the skateboard, just to get to school, justifying why he's so good at doing tricks around cards later to escape Biff. Marty's mom being so opposed to outgoing girls precisely because she was like that, and regrets it. Nearly every line and scene is there to set up or pay off something. So rewatching it is like solving a puzzle.
This is easily my favorite trilogy, and most critics and movie historians consider it the most perfect series of movies ever made, especially with the attention to detail. Please please please watch all of them.
@DevinGtv901 The new Alien movie is coming out this summer called Alien Romulus.I still have to watch the new Planet of the Apes movie and the new Mad Max movie the new Horror movie Abigail is good also and Godzilla x Kong The New Empire is good to.
This is maybe the most well constructed film of all time. Every scene, darn near every frame, is efficiently used to tell crucial details. Everything you see in earlier in the film pays off specifically later in the film. It's almost hard to believe they planned it all.
So many subtle nods and other details: ~ The judge at the band audition was Huey Lewis, who wrote and performed The Power of Love - both the title track for the movie and the song Marty's band performed for their audition. ~ Old Man Peabody and his son Sherman were a nod to the old Peabody and Sherman cartoons where they traveled through time to teach Sherman about history. ~ When Marty first gets to the mall in 1985, the sign says "Twin Pines Mall". In 1955, he runs over and kills one of Peabody's pine trees. When Marty goes back to the mall in 1985, the sign says "Lone Pine Mall". ~ Throughout the movie, the ledge on the clock tower is intact - until Doc breaks it in 1955. When Marty returns to 1985, the ledge is now damaged. (In Back to the Future II, when they go to 2015, that damaged ledge is still there.) ~ George and Lorraine bought the model home for Lyon Estates. When Marty hides the DeLorean behind the billboard, you can clearly see that's his house in the advertisement. ~ In case you missed it, Marty performed "Johnny B Goode" at the 1955 dance, which was actually released by Chuck Berry in 1956. (Also, Marty's performance segued through several [in]famous guitar solos from the 1960s through early 1980s which were indeed loved by GenXers.)

The pictures on the mantelpiece in Doc's living room are scientists/inventors, the picture Doc puts back is Thomas "Tom" Edison (who was really more of a businessman) who worked on improving the light bulb, phonograph etc.. Others are Benjamin Franklin (left of Edison) who invented a few things including the lightning rod to protect structures and Albert Einstein (right). The first portrait on the left is Isaac Newton's (mathematician/physicist).
Well said. ALSO, since it was 1953, some of them are STILL ALIVE or recently deceased. Einstein is definitley alive in 1955. Edison did his thing in the 1870s and 1880s, so he might have died like 30 years ago, probably during Doc's lifetime. (For sure, Franklin was long dead since his heyday was 1776.)
🙂 Devin, you've just found one of the *BEST* trilogies ever made! No spoilers, but I hope you watch the next movie ASAP, because the way the first and second are inter-woven is nothing less than spectacularly great writing and acting!
IMO, this is a perfect movie. Great plot, use of science fiction, comedy and emotion. Marty saying "I hope so" about seeing Doc in 30 years and the reveal that Doc taped the letter back together always gets me.

The car "didn't come from this damn movie". The DeLorean was a real car and was around before the movie was made, and was chosen by the movie production team as an 'iconic' car and used in all three 'Back to the Future' movies.
If you think about it...Marty traveled to an alternate 85 timeline at the end, where he replaced the Marty of this alternate 85...all because his father got confrontational with Biff. His original 85 timeline where he's from, he's still missing and Doc is still laying on the ground.

My theory is that the clocks at Doc's house went on the first time travel trip and that was why they were all uniformly wrong. Does not make sense but it does as much as any other theory about the clocks. However it seems like Doc would not have been surprised about that info after Marty mentions it.
That was an excellent reaction. You’re so right about parents and their kids. I’m glad you had fun with the movie. Can’t wait to see the rest of it with you. Thanks for the fun until next time.
Great reaction! 😊 This is another one of my favorite movie trilogies. This was another one that I've loved since growing up with it in the 80s. I love the on-screen chemistry between Michael J. Fox (Marty) and Christopher Lloyd(Doc Brown). 4:42 Fun Fact: This judge that's judging Marty's band is singer Huey Lewis from the 80s band Huey Lewis and the News. They sing the opening song "The Power of Love" and the closing credits song "Back in Time". Just a side note for when you watch the second movie: If you don't want to be spoiled for the third one stop the second movie as soon as you see it say "To be continued..." at the end. Something no one seems to comment about is, the easiest time to get plutonium was, in fact, the 1950's. They did not understand how dangerous it was. There were even kids toys and chemistry sets with radioactive chemicals in them. The 1980's would have been a lot more difficult.
Just a heads up the “Telltale” game released a few years ago is the unofficial ( 4th ) installment as stated by Gale and Zemekis. The principal was just handing out some tough love for Marty, because he hoped it would help him avoid the mistakes and weaknesses of his father, who was a push-over and slacker. It might not have been the best strategy, but he meant well. He was old school and thought that kids need some discipline to grow up into respectable citizens.
This was 1985 and Biffs admission about drinking and diving was a common thing then. This was before drunk driving laws, and the only rule was "keep it between the lines".
I remember watching this in the theater when it first came out. 😁 I saw it again the next weekend, and the one after that. I've forgotten how many times I rewatched it; I even saw it again when it hit the discount theaters (a dollar per showing, back then).
I have a friend who recreated the Delorean time machine in EVERY detail from a full size actual DeLorean. He built the version that you see at the end of this movie. (except of course it doesn't fly) The Mr. Fusion, the lights, controls, Flux capacitor, sound effects, EVERYTHING. It's perfectly identical to the one in the movie. He rents it out to people for birthday parties and movie showings. He even got to show it to Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox. He's currently recreating the ECTO ONE Hearse from "Ghost Busters".
Small details I didn’t notice until I watched this multiple times. When Doc Brown is telling Marty about the area around the mall he says “old man Peabody, owned all of this. Had this crazy idea about breeding pine trees.” The. When Marty goes to 1955 he is on the farm.
The Libyans were not pleased being named as the terrorists in this movie. The movie was rejected by every studio, sometimes more than once. What's really wild is to be cruising down the interstate and seeing an extremely well made replica coming from the opposite direction. For just a second, you get that little tickle in the brain as you try to deal with it. Crazy.
8:20 Met Online⁉️ . . . They didn’t even have internet in 85, and definitely not in 55 when they met. But this a fun watchin you see this amazing movie. Can’t believe you had never seen it. Blessings 🙏

This movie is just incredibly well made. . 40 years later and I thoroughly enjoyed watching Devin experience it for the first time! Great reaction, I'll be looking out for the sequels!🥰
So glad you reacted to this. You gotta see the sequels! Fun fact: In the beginning, Doc tells Marty to meet him at Twin Pines Mall where he travels back to 1955. When he drives away from the home owner with the shotgun, he runs down one of the pines and when Marty returns to the future, the mall is called Lone Pine Mall.
The judge that said the music was Marty's band was too loud is the artist who actually wrote the song they were playing.
Huey Lewis, and his band THE NEWS 😁

You are awesome. One of the best react videos I’ve seen. Keep it up dawg.
AUTO THUMBS UP 👍🏻 DevinG always delivers!
Man, I LOVE your reaction to this flick! So damn fun, dude!! Thanks!!
I'm glad I stumbled upon your channel. You're insightful and funny. Looking forward to more reactions. 😃👍
19:50 This joke by John Mulaney explains it perfectly.
Crazy.
Those Toyota 4x4 were so popular back then and we called them toy. We would use the Toyota lettering on the back tailgate and change it to Toy. lol
My neighbor has a Toy-yoda.😅
@8:58ish.... this scene ALWAYS makes me laugh out loud! =X-D
My favorite series of all time. Best trilogy, hands-down. Excited to take the journey with you.
One of the best Trilogies ever made
Fun Fact: The judge who told Marty they were to loud is Huey Lewis him self. Huey Lewis and the News is one of my favorite bands.
Almost 10k bro, you deserve it and more. Great reaction to this classic!
Love your reaction. Looked like you were ready to fight Biff 😂
Yes, keep going through the trilogy. Actually the first is my favorite then the 3rd, but a lot of people like the 2nd Back To The Future the most.
😂😂😂 You’re simply the best ‼️🎬🥤🍿
Can't believe you have never seen this 😂 but I loved this reaction Devin!! Can't wait for 2 and 3 ❤
8:20 Met Online⁉️ . . . They didn’t even have internet in 85, and definitely not in 55 when they met. But this a fun watchin you see this amazing movie. Can’t believe you had never seen it.
Blessings 🙏
Definitely watch all three of this series it’s a full circle. Also, check out the movies Weird Science(1985), The Goonies(1985), Terminator 2: Judgment Day(1991), and Men In Black(1997).
24:28 Not presidents, but scientists. From left to right: Isaac Newton, Ben Franklin, Thomas Edison, and Albert Einstein.
