Brendan Fraser had so many bangers in the 90's through early 2000's. Action, comedy (Blast From the Past, Bedazzled my favs), drama (School Ties)... Then he was gone. Watching him win the Academy Award last year had me crying for real.
There was an accident during the hanging scene in this movie. Brendan Fraser was injured, badly. He quit acting for a while (he thought forever) because of the severe pain. He was able to recover enough to start acting again.
Rick whipping that chair at the back of Beni's legs made me laugh when I saw this in theaters at 8 years-old, and it still makes me laugh as I'm about to turn 34 years-old.
"Birthplace of Anck Su Namun, Pharaoh's mistress. No other man was allowed to touch her" In those final years of the century (1999), we went crazy with Patricia Velásquez. What a woman.
The Mummy is one of my favorite movies. I love Rachel Weisz as the brainy, beautiful leading lady, Brendan Fraser as the adventurous man of action, and Arnold Vosloo as the chief villain. Also, they did get the mummification practices correct when Evelyn described how ancient Egyptians removed people's brains (minus a slight omission): The embalmers used the hook to also punch a hole in the person's skull so the brain drained out when they were rolled over. And I always get jumpscared when Jonathan is toying around in that damned sarcophagus, no matter how many times I've seen the movie. Side trivia: 1. In the scene introducing her as Ankh-su-namun, model/actress Patricia Velásquez was completely naked with the exception of a loin cloth, a few pieces of jewelry, pasties & body paint (body paint took four hours to apply). 2. Brendan Fraser revealed on a recent episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” that he had a near-death experience during a stunt gone wrong while filming “The Mummy.” The Oscar winner said he was “choked out accidentally” during the scene in which he had to be hanged from the gallows in the Egyptian prison, which resulted in him being resuscitated by on-set medical personnel. 3. In the desert race to Hamunaptra, you see camels and horses. Horses are faster (on flat land), but camels are adapted to life in the desert. Even though they do eventually have to eat and drink, camels can live off the fat reserves inside their humps, their long eyelashes keep dust out of their eyes, and their feet are big and wide to keep them from sinking into the sand as they move. 4. After Evelyn unknowingly awakens Imhotep by reading The Book Of The Dead (which is actually a funerary scroll in real life) and the locust swarm flies into the encampment at Hamunaptra, the locusts crawling on the Egyptologist are actually grasshoppers that were refrigerated to make them sluggish. On a similar note, the scarabs in real life were merely dung beetles, not vicious flesh eaters.
We love you too Dev. And as for your question about if this is a scary movie or not, The Mummy is one of the Universal monsters along with Frankenstein's Monster and Dracula for a reason!
I’m glad to see that you’re replying to comments saying that you already have The Mummy Returns on Patreon because that one definitely doesn’t suck. The Mummy 3 though, it’s not bad, but it just doesn’t have the same magic the first two had. It came out several years after the first two and doesn’t have the whole Egyptian setting. If feels too far removed from the first two. I feel like you’d probably enjoy it still, but you wouldn’t be missing out on much if you decided to skip it. I don’t know if you’ve went passed The Mummy Returns on Patreon, but if not, watching The Scorpion King would be a much better follow-up than The Mummy 3 would. It came out not long after The Mummy Returns and that was a pretty big movie at the time too. If it’s not already obvious, it’s a spin-off about The Scorpion King.
On flat solid ground, a horse is faster than a camel, but on sand the camel is faster because their wide, flat hooves spread their weight out better and keep them from sinking into the sand - think of those big tennis racket snowshoes people wear to keep from sinking into the snow.
when I first saw the decaying face during a kiss scene in theaters I wondered what tramatised Evelyn more, the fact something decayed kissed her or the fact she just got a good whiff of three thousand year old bad breath that scope, tic tac and even a breath mint couldn't help
My parents and I snuck in to see this movie 🤭 I can't remember the movie we initially went to see, but once it was over, walking down the hallway to leave, we see "The Mummy." Both of my parents were like, let's goooo! Something we've neeeverrrr done or have since 😂 core memory
What a blessed memory. I remember movie hopping so much as a kid. One day my big brother flew down, so we told him we were spending day at the movies. He didn't expect to see 6 movies in 1 day. He was so tired!😂
Great movie. The second mummy movie is well worth it. Third is only for the real hardcore lovers. Kinda cheesy to me, but still entertaining. Stay up, D.
I remember catching my stepdad watching this when I was 3. Been into it ever since. Plus i find it insane that Brendan Frasier survived that stunt of being hanged.
The Medjai made him immortal because they wanted him to suffer for all eternity, not just for the few minutes it would have taken him to suffocate while being eaten alive by the bugs. That he might one day get loose and become A Serious Problem did cross their minds, which is why they set their descendants to guard the site.
I don’t think either of the other films sucked. The sequel the Mummy Returns was an awesome movie it maintained the same funny action packed vibe as the first one continuing & concluding that story. The third film Tomb of the Dragon Emperor wasn’t bad either I just think it was a different vibe, there are some new cast members & a different kind of mummy. I enjoyed it I just think it felt different from the other two, but definitely still worth a watch. It’s very entertaining & a different direction.
3:09 "Resurrect" is how you say it. 11:29 About 2 weeks (a lot longer then a horse) 12:11 They can go 65 km/h horses can do 71 but in that kind of heat the tables can be turned.
The second Mummy movie is great! The 3rd? Not so much. It has its points but the woman who replaces Evie's actor just throw the chemistry off kilter. I definitely want to see you do Mummy Returns, though!
This movie gave me a week of nightmares as a kid bc of the beetles and being buried alive. I stopped sleeping for a couple days until exhaustion hit me. I love the movie but will try to skip those scenes or close my eyes and distract myself. 😅
Also, I’m pretty surprised to see that you were a little more lenient on Benny. In your videos, you tend to dislike a lot of those scummy, greedy, selfish people, which Benny is. I’m thinking the reason why you didn’t go as hard on him as you usually do with movie characters might be because he’s still entertaining besides being s shitty person. If you’re reading this comment, I actually have a question. What did you think about Rick trying to save Benny at the end? Considering all the times Benny fucked Rick over and left Rick to die? Curious what you’re opinion was on that.
the humji have to be the worst guardians in the world " OHHHH what have we got here a bunch of people at the very burial site of this terrible mummy , with plans and knowledge to raid it ... EHHHH lets just let them off with a warning it should be fine" lol
Id give all 3 a view (i know the 2nd is on your patreon since you told someone this in the comments) but dont stop after the 3rd one. Id STRONGLY URGE you to react to The Scorpion King movie, the prequel to the mummy trilogy, plus it has Michael Clarke Duncan in it. Seriously give it a try, i promise you'll enjoy it.
Hey Devin love your reactions as usual😀😀. Need to adjust your volume..Your voice way louder than the movie sound I have t constantly pay with my volume.. Hey you have GOT to Do ""PATTON '70""😍 Only like 2 youtubers done reactions to it. its the true story of Americas Greatest WW2 General George Patton. U will die when u hear he opening speech. Have I ever given u a bad suggestion? Wont' be disappointed I promise
Hey, Devin. Hope all is good. Been following you since 5k on your old channel that youtube fucked over. I consider your videos one of my highlights of the day, there are so many others out there that do what you do and no hate to them but you just got that thing, love your energy bro. Keep doing what you doing, i will be there for the next one. Much love from sweden Also wanted to suggest a movie for you, it's one of my favourites. It's called ''The last Duel'' really good medieval movie based on real events with big shots like Matt Damon and Adam Driver in it, think you would really like it, got some intense moments in it.
Frasier did his own stunts in this and got injured more than once. The most serious of which was the hanging stunt that got botched and he was legitimately strangling. He still suffers ftom neck and back issues stemming from it 😢😢😢
I saw you responded to a comment on this already. But just to echo what I'm sure most people are saying. The Mummy Returns is worth the watch. The third film... not so much. I don't even remember what its official title is.

The Mummy Returns is awesome too! Worth watching.
Already did! Up on Patreon 💪🏿
@@DevinGtv901 awesome!
I agree. It was funny and lots of action and also gives answers about Rick and Evelyn who they were they too have their history
@DevinGtv901 so happy to hear that!
The mejiah that was helping them is also in part 2 and three of the Resident Evil movies and Deuce Bigalow Male Jijgalow.
Oded Fehr as Ardeth Bay is also a hero in this movie and the sequel. Oded was the perfect choice for this role.
Rick whipping that chair at the back of Beni's legs made me laugh when I saw this in theaters at 8 years-old, and it still makes me laugh as I'm about to turn 34 years-old.
"Birthplace of Anck Su Namun, Pharaoh's mistress. No other man was allowed to touch her"
In those final years of the century (1999), we went crazy with Patricia Velásquez. What a woman.
Agreed! She’s gorgeous, I wanted to see every film she was in after that.
The second Mummy is fun; just forgive the comically bad cg near the end.
The Mummy is one of my favorite movies. I love Rachel Weisz as the brainy, beautiful leading lady, Brendan Fraser as the adventurous man of action, and Arnold Vosloo as the chief villain. The second one is also fun.
I know🙌🏾. It’s up on Patreon now

8:17 in that scene Brendan Fraser was actually choking, something went wrong with the stunt.

Welcome to The Mummy Family enjoy the journey
Definitely!! The second one is great too. It’s up on Patreon
Brendan is THE goat bro, absolutely love that guy. What a legend💪
when I first saw the decaying face during a kiss scene in theaters I wondered what tramatised Evelyn more, the fact something decayed kissed her or the fact she just got a good whiff of three thousand year old bad breath that scope, tic tac and even a breath mint couldn't help
Hard to believe that this movie is 25 yrs old.
BTW Camels can go up to 2 weeks without water, assuming a slow walk.
My parents and I snuck in to see this movie 🤭

12:40 Devin... there were bats in ancient Egypt
The third Mummy is my favorite out of the three so definitely watch all of them!!!
I remember catching my stepdad watching this when I was 3. Been into it ever since. Plus i find it insane that Brendan Frasier survived that stunt of being hanged.

the mummy returns is actually my favorite one
The other good guy that was over the army in the desert is also in three of the Resident Evil movies and Deuce Bigalow Male Jigalow.
Brendan Fraser in Tarzan is good too very funny but definitely the right character pick for Brendan
Benny was a world class azzhole, but he really was pretty funny 😂😂😂. Rarely say that about a "bad guy."
He's probably my favourite movie dirtbag.
Dude. Bagel face?’ Freaking hilarious! This movie is bomb for its day. Second one is great too. Thumbs up all!
Appreciate it fam!!
Brandon Frasers' best movies The Mummy 1-3,Encino Man,Bedazzled.

Dope movie and dope reaction Devin.
Fun fact: the shot with the bookcases in the library luckily worked out on the first try - otherwise, it would have taken ages to reset everything.
Brendan Fraser is amazing
Watch the Mummy returns basically direct sequel so same actors and same awesome writing and fun vibe
You should watch Van Helsing have you do The Mummy Returns. Same director. Fun movie.
Watch all them it's good ride!!
Don't bother with the 3rd Mummy movie but I'd definitely watch The Mummy Returns, the 2nd movie.
Fun action film glad you liked it only this and the sequal are any good to me. Was a treat to see you enjoy it
One of my favorites movies

The second Mummy movie is great! The 3rd? Not so much. It has its points but the woman who replaces Evie's actor just throw the chemistry off kilter. I definitely want to see you do Mummy Returns, though!
The next one is awesome too. You’re right, the third is skippable.
That noise they heard was scarabs. The bugs that the high priests put in the sarcophagus with Imotep that are him alive.
The Mummy Returns is good, the 2nd movie. The third movie was so disappointing. I hope you react to the second one!!
Love your reactions. U lost weight? Especially in the neck section?
Haha I get it. Anybody who lifts or does intense exercise knows, you gotta eat 😂
This movie gave me a week of nightmares as a kid bc of the beetles and being buried alive. I stopped sleeping for a couple days until exhaustion hit me. I love the movie but will try to skip those scenes or close my eyes and distract myself. 😅

Always with those dry ass bagels. Lol
The Mummy Return is fun and worth to too!!!!
This movie is awesome and it's the start to the start to the cartoon they had which could be canon and the other 2 movies are great as well
One of Anaksunamun's organs was gone, the jar was broken. Maybe her liver.

the humji have to be the worst guardians in the world " OHHHH what have we got here a bunch of people at the very burial site of this terrible mummy , with plans and knowledge to raid it ... EHHHH lets just let them off with a warning it should be fine" lol
First watched this when I was like 6. It was more cool & fun, than scary - to me n my siblings.
Hey Devin!!
Mummy Two is great. I never saw 3.
I’ve only seen a few videos but you see so kind and sweet I’m gonna stay a while
Id give all 3 a view (i know the 2nd is on your patreon since you told someone this in the comments) but dont stop after the 3rd one. Part 2 is good part 3 I didn't care for
Jonathan lifted the skeleton's leg and pulled out something out of the skeleton's ...
Fun reaction but could you turn up the movie audio on the next one
0:52 They don't suck but I hope you do react to The Mummy: Tomb of the dragon.
There is three of these movies and the remake of the first one but with Tom Cruise.

Hey, Devin. Hope all is good. Been following you since 5k on your old channel that youtube fucked over. RiP Winston 💔😭😭
The 2nd one (The Mummy Returns) is very good, I would recommend you watch it...the 3rd one is garbage
As others have said, the second movie is excellent, anything after that sucks.
I saw you responded to a comment on this already. But just to echo what I'm sure most people are saying. The Mummy Returns is worth the watch. The third film... not so much. I don't even remember what its official title is.
Tomb of the Emperor
I like Maria Bello as an actress, but she was not a good Evelyn and the chemistry was off with Brendan Fraser.
Тhe movie audio is too low, i turn up the volume to the max and again I barely catch it.
Second one is a banger too. Anything past that is trash.
Hope you are ok and well I no what you mean I love food to I eat 8 or 12 times a day
I think The Mummy Returns is a good movie. The first one is the best of the trilogy though. The Mummy 3 I never liked.
