biff is sometimes a shortened form of bufford or william but more likely in this case it was a nickname. in slang it refers to hit or to punch so a lot of "tough" guys would adopt it as a nickname. not very common at all now though and i think it really dropped off after this movie

Fun fact: as a prank, someone put real liquor in the hip flask for the parking scene. Fox's spit take was a genuine reaction. The director liked it so much he left if in the finished film.
There are other easter eggs showing changes. For example, the ledge on the clock tower is now damaged where the Doc nearly fell off.
Another is that the mall is originally called Twin Pines Mall. When Marty first went back, he smashed one of the two pines running away. When he returns the mall is now called Lone Pine Mall.
The ending was a throw away gag. They didn't expect the film to perform that well. When the film became a runaway hit, a sequel was written. Problem is, they had to start with the final scene of the first movie.

@@NiceIce75 Robert and Bob have no legal say. However, one of the owners and the biggest name at Universal Pictures Amblin Entertainment is Steven Spielberg. He produced the films too. Steven's friendship with Robert is likely the only thing keeping the rest of the studio from pursuing alternate revenue streams from BTTF that the screenwriters oppose. Once Steven passes away I think the odds of a remake or something will become much much greater. They are not going to do it without Steven's approval and Steven isn't going to approve something his friend is so adamantly opposed to. Sadly I think a remake is simply a matter of time. Heh... I couldn't believe she'd never seen it, so I showed her the whole trilogy and she loved it. It's one of the few instances of a film trilogy where I feel like all of the movies are equally good. *You were right when you said "this is perfect."*
From what I understand, this is still taught in many film schools as being the perfect script, from beginning, middle to end. Hits all the right notes. This is the main reason it is so well loved by everyone who sees it for the first time - no matter who they are. My enjoyment of seeing these reaction videos to the movies that made us Gen X bunch, and made a definitive cultural impact, is a very warm feeling. I just wish modern movie producers would stop a moment, look back at these movies and understand why they were just so successful and make _original_ productions based on these... well, philosophies.

one fan theory I accept as headcanon is that George McFly is really a left-handed kid but was forced to use his right. This was fairly common and messed up a bunch of people. When he has to punch Biff he's using his left, which is his stronger hand. And afterwards he allowed himself to be a leftie, which helps since he's no longer holding back.

There was another lead actor but they fired him and hired Michael J. Fox. The problem with that was he was on a popular TV show and the producers refused to let him take a break from that. So if you notice, most of the scenes in this movie are at night. That's because Fox worked during the day on the TV show and at night on the movie. It was not until after the TV series ended that when they started talking about doing a sequel. You have to watch part 2 and part 3. They are awesome. Pro tip, the dad, had a major issue with his character, and ideas and other things. So everyone not only fired him but used a stunt double, practical effects and CGI for 2-3. He couldn't work for 20 years, was blacklisted, broke, everything. But he never gave up. He sued and sued and sued....and finally won! Crispin Glover changed Hollywood and he deserves a hand! I think the first gig he got after working again, was a small part in the hillarious riot, Hot Tub Time Machine!

Pretty much none of that is true. He didn’t work on 2 out of his own choosing, and obviously not 3 and did sue for them using his likeness in 2. But he worked steadily after BTTF. He was in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Charlies’ Angels (both of them), Twister, Wild at Heart, The Doors, Rivers Edge, etc. before Hot Tub Time Machine.

@@dnish6673 yes, he did work...some...but if u don't think the heavies from this production and studio, didn't throw their weight around against him, knowing what they could lose, in future films by not being able to use doubles robotics likenesses CGI etc , of a person, without paying, ur incredibly naive'.

It’s apparently that George isn’t the only one to fall out of that tree according to her dad. I wonder if she knows the angles.

Kamilla, after Marty returned to the future, Doc Brown wad ready and waiting to take his own boogie ride. He had already seen the future when he returned to warn Marty and Jennifer about their kids. What a great set up for part 2. Loved your reaction. Just a fun, feel good film. Enjoy Part 2 and 3!
