- The WDR BIG BAND performs "Persistence" (composition / arrangement: Carla Köllner) with Carla Köllner on trombone. Another solo is played by Matt Halpin on tenor saxophone. Pascal Klewer leads the WDR BIG BAND. Recorded in concert live stream as part of the concert on February 27, 2021 in the Kölner Philharmonie.
NRW enjoys a reputation as a "jazz state" beyond its own borders, due in no small part to its outstanding educational opportunities. First and foremost, there are the two music academies in Essen and Cologne. And the WDR Big Band also promotes young talent in the region with various projects. The most recent example is the "Cologne Composers Corner" project, where four young musicians can contribute their talents as composers or arrangers. Carla Köllner, Pascal Klewer, Maik Krahl and Johannes Ludwig will start the project. Pascal Klewer will also take on the responsibility of musical direction and a large part of the conducting as part of this sponsorship. Ansgar Striepens, a university professor and artistic director of the Bundesjazzorchester, has been recruited as a mentor with extensive experience in the field of talent development.

There’s so many details in this. Little parts that make the whole; unison lines, harmonies, question/answer passages, the composition, arrangement, drone notes. Amazing!
May I ask you what is a drone note "une note suspendue".?

Wunderbare Komposition, herausragendes Arrangement mit den großartigen Musikern der WDR-Bigband, die Partien zwischen Sax und Posaune so perfekt auf den Punkt gespielt 👌🏼.
