Had a friend on social media who literally made a post complaining about this because his (then) wife was spending time with a guy she'd been seeing rather than taking care of him, apparently. And one of their other mutual friends even commented, "Uh, Daniel you were the one who wanted this whole open relationship thing to begin with & you knew this could potentially happen..."

I don't think he think about others emotions enough to try to make Louis jealous. I think he truly thought that was a laughable statement, I'd imagine him thinking "I'm 160 years old and you want me to just have sex with you?!" He has unlimited time to be with a unlimited amount of people.

📍; I think Lestat was gitty because he was happy to see that Louis cared, and it was ridiculous to him because he loves Louis so much and would do anything for him.
Well either way Louis was hurt guys..You could tell when he asked lestat, aren't I enough? It's because he was not ok with him messing with other people. But of course Lestat laughed, and made him feel like shit.

I don't think it's that. This would've made Louis leave, seeing as how his childish tantrum in response to Jonah didn't, and Louis never so much as looks at another again. Literally because Lestat isn't 'okay' with it. But what happened there is, Lestats pride and ego is immense and he really clowned himself here. Hard. So I think his "Of course"s where his attempt at masking his utter embarrassment at having his own game turned back on him.
I remember when I watched this scene the first time, hell the first few times. I was beside myself with Lestats reaction. I laughed so hard I was wheezing. Like he clowned himself so damn hard, then didn't know what to do. And I was just like "Ohgod Louis, look at his face while he says that. Of course... he looks crazed. Louis, don't do it. You're gonna get some poor man killed" Like he looked one hair line fracture, from absolutely unhinged. That second "of course" oh man XD

Subtle but genius: watch Lestat's head carefully each time he says "of course." When people lie, their body language usually gives away their real answer. Notice how fluidly, slowly, and perfectly he continuously shakes his head 'no' and how quick and forced it looks when attempts only once to nod 'yes.' It's really brilliant.
That was the most insincere " of course" I've ever heard. He might as well have said "of course NOT!"

I thought I was very powerful when Louis asked Lestat “aren’t I enough”….it’s something many of us want to ask our partner when/if they’re being unfaithful, instead we put up with it or leave….but actually asking the question is simultaneously riveting and sad…..relationships🙄
It seems like a pointless question to me. If someone cheats on their partner, the partner got their answer. If the partner was enough, the cheater would have no interest in betraying that person's trust and their bond with them. You wouldn't risk losing them if they were enough. It shows a lack of emotional and sexual restraint, personal responsibility, and regard for their partner. It's hard for me to believe that a person could find that their partner is enough for them and then do that to them.
That's not being unfaithfull that's being in a non-monagomus relationship. What's toxic is that he's jealous and is like okay but we can have a theesome with whomever you find attractive, what's like he's not part of that relationship? He could ask to be that's great, but the way he treats it is just wrong.

He just used her to listen to Claudia & Louis. When she tries to kiss him he acts like he really isn’t interested. He cannot leave New Orleans because Louis is there. She is the reason Lestat knew Claudia was leaving & Louis was thinking about meeting the sun.
She was just entertainment ultimately. Lestat needs attention and he's ready to take it no matter the source. Plus after Claudia came he gave more attention to her so there was this jealousy on his part.

The thing is, I got the impression that there were large swaths of time when everything was going good with him and Louis that he wasn't even seeing her, he just kept coming back to her when things weren't working out. She should have run when she had the chance.
@@Ceares yep same. I think that was the point, that when things got rocky (normally bc of something HE’D done), lestat would go to someone to boost his own ego and give him the attention he wanted. Also I was sliiightly confused about the timeline- not the dates, cause they’re pretty easy, but since antionette was ??? in 1917, when she’s first introduced, she really doesn’t look all that different in the 1930’s. That’s assuming she was turned very late on, which is what the show implies- sometime mid episode 6, which puts her at at least 10 years older than she was in ep3. Might have to rewatch but if there’s an age up it’s quite subtle.

When Claudia put a stake through her heart and bashed her face in , Lestat had no reaction to these things happening to her. Of course, he was being outfoxed and dying but still if someone was torturing Louis in this way and he’s witnessing it, Lestat would show strong objection on Louis behalf. Antoinette has always been a means to an end.
And what individual thinks being a replacement would be a good idea? Doesn’t she knows Louis always comes fist. And for sake of discussion and Claudia was killed. Louis would have demanded that she would have to be next. And Lestat would concur.. because, he even told her (Antoinette) from the beginning that he will do anything for Louis.
And being responsible for killing the one person Louis loves apart from his family and Lestat would not go down with them living a happily ever after.
Idk lestat hated claudia. He wouldn't do anything about Antoinette killing her. Out of pettiness he would even praise Antoinette for that. Louis would go mad in that house with both of them slowly driving him nuts with their mocking relationship and chatter. And with no way to go since lestat would never let him leave new Orleans i think Louis would have killed himself
@@EughhBrothereughh I think originally lestat had some affection for her; when it was easy and she didn’t start suffering the consequences of having been turned as a kid. It was 100% a baby trap, done for Louis at his own request, but Claudia mentions how she was very like lestat in her bloodlust. It’s the same with her ability to manipulate: she is VERY like him in those chess scenes, except far more measured in her approach. book!lestat talks about genuine affection for Claudia in TVL and again in TotBT. we don’t know for sure, since Louis is still an unreliable narrator in this version. I’d say lestat is almost confronted with a part of himself in Claudia, and hates her for it, - I hope they explore that s2 or later on, so he can finally realise that what’s sabotaging his relationship is really himself.

I honestly cannot get enough of these 2. The last series couple that I was this obsessed with was TWD -Rick and Michonne. Jacob and Sam are so great together. Whoever cast them opposite each other could get a raise. I even love their interviews together for the series.
You'd think someone that old would have had practice at being alone and want some time off from relationships to enjoy alone time anyway.

I think that's true to some extent. I don't think it was ever about Antoinette or even about variety (variety would have been several different short-term people), really.
Wasn't he already messing with Antoinette when louis said so I can f whoever I want? And louis only f with Jonah to prove a point to lestat, that I can get someone else if I wanted. But of course Lestat didn't like that, so he Lied to Louis and said she was tedious, and he didn't see that happening again. That's why louis was shock when Cludia exposed lestat still messing with her, cause he truly believed lestat was done with her.

Louis is shown repeatedly to embellish his stories to make himself sound a certain way and his relationship with being gay and being vulnerable is pretty apparent. I think he was vague about his own age bc admitting he too was young at the time would make him appear weak. He had a preoccupation with being seen as strong and masculine at that point in his life, and it would make him sound that way if he was the older one, the stronger one in the dynamic even if that wasn't the case.
