- Vampire Chronicles: The Life Of Armand. The Vampire Armand is one of the most interesting yet complicated characters from the Vampire Chronicles. From reading The Vampire Lestat and Interview with the Vampire, he really stood out as someone with a story that was needed to be told and fortunately for me, his story was already written when I started the chronicles but if you’re someone who bought interview back when it first came out, then you would’ve been waiting over 20 years to hear Armands story. In today's video, I’m going to take you through the entire Life Of Armand, everything you need to know about him, everything he’s been through, his ups and his many many downs, this is certainly a video for viewers who really want a gripping story and I really hope I do Armands story justice today. Please enjoy The Life of The Vampire Armand.

By far Anne's most tragic character I feel like living longer than a century becomes morbid and depressing
U only saying that cause u got no choice but to age
@@chrisstich5971 well kind of a universal give lol
@@jasperquinnzelblack3488 right ? lol
I like how she wrote into the story that the strong ones would bury themselves as a sort of reset when they unlived too long. Resurfacing decades or a century later.
If out of shape & such? Obviously.
IT WOULD BE. IT IS. YOU DON'T NEED TO BE A VAMPIRE TO KNOW THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Armand's problem is he didn't live much when he was human, never knew the world only drastic change & harsh reality. As a Vampire it took him a long time, too long, to live alone with some purpose & create fledglings he could love (until Daniel). He always need smthg else to believe in, someone to feel through. Like people who need someone make them feel whole, with purpose or they are miserable & empty.
Yes, essentially he has Borderline Personality Disorder.
Poor Armand..his life really was terribly rough the minute he was forced into slavery and as for the book interview with the vampire I’m going to order it
You'll enjoy it it's a great book
I've read most of the Vampire-Chronicles , stopped at Blackwood Farm. It's not for everyone, but the first three books everyone should read once (some I've re-read many times). Armand is def one of the best, immensely tragic, interesting, vicious, cunning, & truly monstrous. His appearance in Queen of the damned is legendary.
You should read the Lestat sequels after Blackwood, they're crazy
@@octosalias5785 I'll take that advice. Thanks!
I loved Blackwood Farm. Please read the rest, you won't be disappointed.
@@lindabright515 I'll finish the book Linda, then tell you what I think.
I really recommend you read the newest final trilogy starting with Prince Lestat.. those books are much more similar in tone to first three books than those that came later.... To me it's like Anne went through a phase from "Memnoch the devil" to "Blood Canticle".. a phase I didn't like, those I still greatly enjoyed Marius and Armand's books... but when she came back with "Prince Lestat" a decade later she wrote much more like the old original Anne.
armand is my fav. in the movie. i know he is much younger in the books w/ a very different origin, but I love how banderas portrays him in the film version.
IMO, the section in "Interview," when Armand teaches Louis to climb the tower in Paris, after which they talk as Armand builds a fire in the créneaux at the top, is the best part of the book. The sadness is palpable. I remember crying the first time I read it. Anne Rice's description of their conversation is sublime.
audio books are a good way to experience the books. I'm dyslexic so I listen to the books
I wasn't allowed to watch the movie back than, so I bought the book. And I instantly felt in love with his name. I had french classes since 6th grade and "Armand" just soundet soooo good.
I love that name too!
it's pronounced completely different from the movies or this video
Armand and Amadeus are cool names
Armand was the first Anne Rice book I read. Brilliance
Banderas is a wonderful vampire, BUT he is tragically miscast as Armand.
i both agree and disagree. he is wonderful as *that* version of armand, even if *that* version is not the armand of the books. but I still think he is my fav. character of the movie & banderas was beautiful as it. but we must agree they ruined armand in the movie version of QOTD, even if aaliyah (RIP) was perfect as akasha
@@c.ladimore1237
…and Vincent Perez is the perfect Marius.
@@_robustus_ he was. and better than the books in that casting, ironically, because a dark short-haired man would be so much more accepted in roman society than the book version of long flowing blonde hair which would have been considered barbaric at the time. anne rice just really likes long hair
It was a different time…….we were just giddy with having the movie made
@@c.ladimore1237 They loved blond haired slaves at the time, how marius looked was why he was turned in the first place. His tastes were strange, living like a pedophile in a house full of young boys. Taking Armand with him to show his beauty to other men eventhough Armand had been raped and abused for his beauty right from the start when he was kidnapped, part of why he lost his memory.
With every Vampire Chronicles video you post, I think more and more of wanting to read the books.
They’re really fantastic books, I’ll be slowing down on VC vids and focusing on the Strain and Vamp Diaries from next week..
I read Interview with the Vampire when I started hearing that they were turning it into a movie back in the '90s. I just never got around to reading the others. I've restarted Vampire Diaries, so I'm excited about the upcoming videos.
@@VampireFolkloreVideos there is _so much_ rich content and _so many_ amazing characters, from the *Vampire Chronicles,* so I sincerely hope that, by "slowing down," you mean that you're taking a short break & will then be getting back to the greatest *Vampire* universe in the history of literature!
You'll HATE the movie after you read the books. I did.
The books are SO much better.
@@leahsundvall5894 I read Interview with the Vampire before the movie came out. I thought it was a good movie, but the book is so much better.
From Harry potter to Anne's vampires. We really have the same taste, Mr. Folklore
I've read only a quarter of the books, but I feel most sorry for Armand. This video is so well written. Like I said earlier, in another video, I hope we get these kinds of videos about every aspect of the Vampire Chronicles.
Really enjoyed this. I read the books long ago but now I feel like I should reread them.
I was 17 when the Interview movie came out and I ended up ravishing the books. Armand has always been my most beloved of the series. This was a wonderful summary of his story 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Very well done. Armand has always been one of my favorite characters from the series. Such a tragic figure.
love it, I have to admit you resume very well all the story, much better than my memory! and wow... poor armand, is Anne rice a psychologist? she really is good with human nature I see...
currently reading the books, thanks to your videos, so thanks a thousand.
OMG....Armand was always my favorite , have only read INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE. It is wonderful to hear his story and inspires me to read his story!!
you have to read the armand book then!
Another great video from you. (also I appreciate that you added Marius and Armand's 'natural' looks and not from the movie which can be a bit misleading.) I read The vampire Armand quite long ago and the book definitely left an impact in me. The depth Amadeo carries with his later maker Marius is amazing and they truly share a deep connection.
It’s not very often I truly enjoy reading a comment as much as I’ve enjoyed this one! I love the Vampire Armand, it was wonderful, I’ve more vampire chronicles vids on the way!
In the film the relationship between louis and armand was cut to short for time reasons. I really hope in the new series they shed some light on his character and fascinating relationships between both louis and lestat.
This isn't my typical choice of content, but I found myself truly enjoying it. I came across it while searching for a brief piece on Armand from Interview with the Vampire. Thanks!
Loved these breakdowns. I never read the novels but it sure makes me want to. I’m a fan of the movies and just watched Season 1 of “Interview with the Vampire.” Glad that this video is around to provide more context and I anticipate to see how these characters evolve!
Please read the books, the films and TV series do not do them justice.
I can't wait til you do Lestat /Memnoch that's my favorite book.
Great videos man. I love the vampire mythology and I've always been interested in these characters from watching Interview and the sequel movies . Never have time now to read with three kids n life keeping me busy . Great watching your videos to get the history. You do an excellent job eh . Take care . Look forward to checking out all your vids.
try the audio books if you don't have time to read.. Thanks for the support
Damn it ...thanks for your fantastic Work.I love Armand ♥Send you many greetings from Germany :)
I love the books and I love your content so much.
read "Interview" when it was brand new. Then i read all 19 other stories...Ann Rice is a Goddess!
Absolutely love this character & his story❤ Anne Rice was one of the best authors of her time.
Fun fact. Anne Rice actually hated Tom Cruise as lestat in interview with a vampire. Only eventually reluctantly admitting that he did a passable job.
That was a great video! I loved the illustrations you used for the characters. I guess you don't consider Prince Lestat and the books that follow cannon, right? Armand's story continues in those books.
Hey JJ, I consider all the books canon. I just created this video when the channel had no subscribers so I didn't want put everything in 1 video so i could make follow up videos when the channel grew bigger.
armand was my facourite character from the first book and "his" book is my favourite of the chronicles, and I love the idea that at the end of it he somehow got an happy end, with marius(my 2nd favourite) giving him benji as the lover/companion he needed, forseeing what would happen and preventing it, so that he not loose him like daniel.
i was hoping that in the new tv-show they would show him more like in the books, but again, like in the movies, they decided to make him different :(
Luv these vampires vids ☺️
Powerful and Ancient. He is my favorite
I was a big fan of the books back in the day, and was initially hesitant about Cruise/ Pitt casting, but upon seeing the movie - thought they did a decent job portraying the book characters. However, for Banderas as Armand….all I ever saw was “Antonio Banderas in a wig,” not “Armand,” which is a shame for such a good character (and not critical of Banderas…the character had few scenes, few and not that good lines, who knows what direction he was given, etc )
Of all of them, Cruise as Lestat was easily the highlight. Cruise, for me, is Lestat. He really did embody the character in that movie. Pitt was solid as Louie but Tom was the show stealer in that movie. Agree with Bandanas not being great as Armand.
And they put white makeup on his face somehow.
I do hope you go more in-depth in the future with the Vampire Chronicles.
I 100% will. It's the greatest franchise out of them all. Number 1.
I read the books years ago. I took the day off to see Interview with a Vampire.
Why are vampires so beautiful
I think they are fallen angels.
@@shadowdancer2131 aren't angels really creepy in real life a thousand eyes
In the books vampires go out there way to turn the most attractive humans as the dark gift enhances a persons natural beauty it's literally a law to not turn the" plain and unattractive" what's a bit unfair as in the collective culture one would assume beatuy becomes subjective each century
They picked physically beautiful humans Armand was chosen for his beauty so as Claudia as she looked like a doll. Lestat too was picked for his beauty. It's the allure they lure people to feed
make up and fake lenses :P
I wanted to hear this video again and I said in the microphone story about the vampire Armand and it pop me up directly to this video and play it immediately that was weird and cool😂
Our favorite 😻 narrator,
Be making the books sound like a gang busting philosophical vampire soap opera mixed with debaucery and drama 🎭
In short, I love 💕 it
I hope hope hope There is a series of vampire Armand comeing
You should do a video on the prince lestat storyline and the alien birds
Armond is my favorite vampire!!❤
I wish you would cover the AMC series.
Yes, Armand has lived an amazing life both as human and vampire BUT the lesson here is: SEEK NOT VALIDATION OUTSIDE YOURSELF!!! The issue with Armand is that he ALWAYS needs something or someone to worship to have meaning in his life when life is about YOU and YOU ALONE and the choices you make. In other words: first it was religion, his father (being a great hunter), Marius, Santino's cult, The Theatre of the Vampires, Lestat, Veronica's veil, even Daniel. Try looking inside yourself for once! Religion is a CONSTRUCT, cults are CONSTRUCTS, other people are CONSTRUCTS. Just connect with your Higher Self and co-create your own reality and decide who you want to be, having learned your lessons from the past. Don't LOOK outside yourself...EVER!
I love the way this video producer pronounces Tartare, TAR-TAR 😉💜
He was a well written character 👏
could you do one on daniel molloy please!?!?!? cant find any info about him on youtube i would like to know what happened to Christian Slaters character
Armand is my favorite 🤩 vampire.
What is that soundtrack? I love it!
Very Very good VIDEO
Very cool!
He was the only reason I wanted to see the movie.
Please please read ALL of the Vampire Chronicles including Merrick, you won't be disappointed. Way better than any film.
My real name is Armand. Its pretty weird seeing so many people using it so casually while not talking to me
Amand is my favorite character in the chronicles. He was totally miscast in the film.
Great video, Dean!
What a sad life, even after death... given youth for eternity, he still suffered greatly either way
Blood and gold is my favourite book I love his origin and Marius
Legends of the Fall
You simplified the true story
well yes, otherwise i'd be repeating a book
Antonio Banderas is pure sexappeal, his version of Armand blew my 9 year old mind.
I really don't care for any of the books, the 1994 movie is a masterpiece and I'm glad the creators did their own thing.
The new show followed the same example, the fans of the books will b*tch no matter what you do.
If I want a 1:1 adaptation of the source material I would simply stick to the novels, but I want a fresh perspective.
I truly enjoy fan fiction because it's interesting to see other people's perspective.
It's like reading reviews on IMDB, people tend to discover certain details I didn't even pay attention to or they add background information - staring at a screen for a while and then simply moving on to the next content is not how you should appreciate a good movie or show.
good story.
very interesting
Great video! Now I have a craving to read the book. But I have a question. I was told that vampires from the Anne Rice books don't have sexuality. Is this true or was it changed as the books went on? Also, have you thought about doing videos about vampires from anime and manga?
I wae legit afraid of him.... Nice video
I still can’t believe the cast Antonio Banderas and gave him black hair. I always imagined him more like a timothy Chalame with auburn hair
It seems they chose from the pretty boy category of who was available in the 90's lol...in today's time we have more than enough guys to play these roles.
Assad is the best Armand ❤
Have you read the book of Armond? You missed a few things from the book. I read the book many times.
Here from the tv series
Armand...simply beautiful!
Armand has red hair in the novels!
it's been a while since I read the books but I feel like it was established that Marius and Armand loved each other?
Matthew Newton who played him in Queen of the Damned was young enough for the part then Antonio Banderas.
You should read the Comic books as well.
Someone said I looked like Armand from vampire chronicles so I checked it out and yeah I look like this guy
Armond was a red haired sixteen year old boy. From the Russian steps. Taught to be an icon artist.
Knowing Armand was a 17 year old boy and seeing who they cast lol
Will Kamal and or the chick who got in stand of with akasha (pink haired girl in movie)get their own video?
Armand was and is still my favourite character from the Chronicles, but I hated the ending of his story because it made me hate Marius for what he did to Sybelle and Benji, since he knew Armand was against turning them into Vampires but did it anyway.
How would you have ended Armand's story?
@@allhailthecrimsonking Just allowing Sybelle and Benji to grow up and die naturally, as in, Marius listens to Armand and accepts what he wants for them instead of Marius ignoring Armand's wishes and doing what he wants instead. It's almost like Marius didn't learn anything from turning Armand into a vampire at 17, even though he was super reluctant to turn Bianca into one. Even Armand, especially after doing awful things, particularly to Claudia, grows to realise that vampirism is a curse and learns from his mistakes, really wanted Sybelle and Benji to live full lives - and Marius knew this, but then Armand just accepts Marius' reasoning...it was like neither of them had learned anything, and Armand fell back into being a submissive child blindly allowing Marius to take control like at the beginning. I don't know, it just made me mad..
It doesn't end like this. Where's Trinity Gate? And Daniel and Armand getting back together?
Oh wow are they doing their real lives here or just interview? Armand and marquis and Gabrielle? Hoping.....
I haven't read the new books yet, haven't been out when I first read the chronicles. Armands story is very tragic!
❤
I always thought Antonio Banderas was too tall and looked much older than Armand was supposed to look
My life is in jerpity Amen 💕🔙
Gizmos inspiration.
Maybe do one on the Vampire Azim?
Great suggestion!!!
Zenobia always fascinated me
He was made by Marius.
Movie Armand, to this day, is so hot it's unfair.
Armand and Louis are tortured "souls". Different in their beliefs but have trauma bonding. It never left them and only intensified after becoming a vampire as their senses intensified. It Also is a testement of the eras louis and Armands core memories reside. Regular humans memories fade with time. Vampire memories( are sharp and fresh) .
Madeline was the woman she had picked to switch. I remember the pages that horror was printed on. Anyway awesome so far 😁😃💚🍀🤍🖤
Sounds like MK ULTRA MIND
Armand and Daniel do get back together later on
I only see Guillermo De la Cruz lol
This is almost word for word the Wikipedia page for Armand.
(Spoilers)
How do feel about his appearance in the new tv show?
I thoroughly enjoy these but maaan what a bunch of drama queens. On to the next story!
I sit here questioning if I should watch this and spoil the read or not............
Armand and Marcus from twilight are the same person , you can’t tell me any different 😂
