- Wow... urgh... We're here again, I guess. Agatha All Along has released it's first two episodes and here I review the first. A mix of nonsense, bad acting, zero plot and garbage writing, this is a joke of a show that should never exist in the first place.

Women generally don't watch Marvel. The minority (gay) of a minority (women) of a minority (non-white) audience for this show is tiny, especially ex-US. No mass appeal, so don't be surprised this flops, also of course because it's very poor quality content, which is perhaps even more important.

It's near impossible to write characters who sound and act like normal people, when you only know people who are show-biz activists. There is no reference frame.

i am a bored middle aged cat lady... and i dont like woke one bit. i loved daredevil and the punisher, but i skipped the recent Disney daredevil with the handicapped native American villain who serves no purpose. 1. this villain is not imposing... like at all. callisto, bellatrix, wicked witch of the west are good examples of imposing fearsome female villains. 2. she is not a femme fatal who seduces, teases, confuses our hero who maybe not can fight the hero in a straight up fight, but orchestrates bad situations for our hero. so what the hell is her purpose? and this new girl boss movie is more boring check mark shit.

I have a theory that movies made by women tend to be worse because women refuse to criticize each other's work. That's why bad characters, bad dialogue, and bad stories keep getting through.

I actually completely forgot that Multiverse of Madness killed her off and my reaction was a "wait, when did that happen?" when I saw a couple comments mentioning it under a different reaction/review video. I'm still questioning it. Thinking back on that movie, my memory of the ending was that Strange's pleas and the obvious fear on the faces of the other timeline's (somehow actually real) copies of her kids got through to her and convinced her that "hey maybe killing and taking the place of an alternate timeline's version of yourself ain't cool man" and she backed off. Was that not what happened?

I have the impression that in her latest work, California shows us that their scriptwriters are very impatient. They can't start properly without going straight to the main plot with their story. Building a story is like a punishment for them, and when they get to what is important to them... they talk about everything at once, without order or sense. It's as if they think we can read their minds and understand everything they want to convey without them having the apparent ability to do it outside of their own minds. Watching/listening to your summary immediately reminds me of my husband's sister's behavior in everyday life (a single woman with a cat). Sometimes I get the impression that she has ADHD, her way of acting is unusual, especially when it comes to cleaning. She is everywhere, trying to take on everything at once, which she can't do because instead of doing one thing to the end... she abandons one task and starts another one, only to abandon it and finally do something that she should have left for the very end because it completely distracts her and she forgets about the rest of the things. She leaves one big chaos behind and when she is told about it, she leaves the house crying. This is how I imagine these creators and I am absolutely not laughing at it, I am just stating the obvious.

Well imagine if this entire season was triler borderlining horror about her being detective and tracking down serial killer who knows who she really is and wants to reveal it to her and then at the end she finds the killer and it turns out to be someone possessed by Mephisto who wants to use her or something. That could have potentially introduced Mephisto to the MCU... I am just thinking on a fly here... I mean anything but this sh**.

Your first mistake is assuming that we're getting good characters and set ups. Marvel Studios is more content with force feeding people Captain Marvel and side characters that only appeared for five seconds in a show.

I was sad to see that Aubry Plaza did this show and is leaning into the "yay girl power!" in the media blitz. I suppose that's part of the job, but it still kinda doesn't do good things for the image she's built up for herself, unless I just haven't been paying attention (I haven't, really).

So, Naomi and Robyn Hood were actually more palatable by Az than the Rings of Glower? At least, Amazon is slowly learning and improving the CG work, but oh, the costumes, set-work, blocking, direction, editing, and scripts are beyond horrid. Not to mention some horrific acting from some of the cast.

This was ONE of the most painful episodes of Television I've ever suffered through.

Why make the villain (Agatha) be made a detective in the made up world she was trapped in? Where she would naturally be investigating and questioning everything? Baffling. Make her fast food service staff so she is forever out of the way and not a threat.

As a cat lady, my friends are watching Downton Abbey and Pride and Prejudice. I am the only one in my age group into comics (got into them in the 80s), my friends think I am silly and immature for this (not wrong, really.) How many BILLIONS does Disney have to lose before they figure out there is *NO* audience for this.

Basically the opening only makes any sense if you watched the previous show, and even then yep they don't seem to have put in the effort to make it a believable crime scene drama. Sure Wanda's death could've destabilized her spell, but that doesn't work if you don't show the before, where Agatha is stuck in the fake reality.

Katherine Hahn destroyed Me in "Bad Moms". Aubrey Plaza is pretty hilarious too. Only marvel could take that level of comedic talent and make a boring lifeless show.
It took 18 minutes of fake true crime show to hunt at the paranormal, and 22 minutes before it finally got going.

Az’s content improves as shows drive him closer to madness though.
This first episode was basically a dream sequence, which is one of the big no-nos for opening a story if you're a writer. The only example I can think of off the top of my head where this worked was in Resident Evil 3 Remake and that was like two minutes long whereas Agatha's first episode is basically a dream for 90 plus percent of the run time. If it doesn't matter then your audience won't care and will have no reason to watch the next episode, I know I didn't on both accounts.
I simply don't understand their marketing angle...guaranteed tax write off is the only thing I can come up with.
