Friendly Reminder: Robin Hood did not "steal from the rich and give to the poor."
He "stole from the government, and gave back to the taxpayer."
It's an important distinction.
Excuse me. It’s pronounced “gubmint.”
Most of the rich back then were nobles or representatives of the church, i.e. were the government.
And many of the rich that weren't nobles often got screwed over by them.
That left few rich people that weren't part of the government.

The unfortunate reality is that the writers probably have a similar mindset you see when it comes to your average looters: just take from whoever has more than themselves, regardless if it was earned legitimately through hard work or not. Because unlike the supposed motivations of Robin Hood, portrayals like this show are about personal greed and envy, not trying to correct wrongdoings; granted it's all perspective at some point, but motivations are what contextualize/legitimize actions that could be considered right or wrong.

These feudal lords technicaly were obliged by law to support their sovereign but in practice could do whatever they wanted.
This is how feudalism which was pre-dominante order in medieval especialy early medieval Europe.
But well I guess you are american. The closest to medieval Europe(Also not brightest example) you got was "england" (which suprise suprise weren't even talking english back then but french. About beggining of governments as we know today we can speak since early-modern or late medieval period when education became more prevelent.
It's also puzzling to me how certain sectors of our society hate cops yet vote in overwhelming numbers for an all powerful police state.
The blessing in disguise of the left winning and going all police state will be that nearly the entirety of the 13% will be among the useful idiots that get disappeared right of the bat.

The joke is too contrived. Nobody, esp a Dr., would deliver news by saying "you'll never be able to work and support yourself again" The doctor, in your joke, had to say this because it's how you want to get to the pre written punchline you crafted the entire joke around. It's doesn't feel natural

I always hate when people get what Robin of Loxley was doing wrong with the ideal of "robbed from the rich and gave to the poor." He robbed from the corrupt and gave to those who were loyal to King Richard.
What's funny is that King Richard was no saint. For instance, being bought into rebelling against his father, and beheading lots of people.

It's not even that creative. I believe that OCP was actively screwing the place over SO they could take it over and replace it with something they controlled more and were actively encouraging the crime issue to push for their own methods of solving it. Hell, Murphy was made a VICTIM of such things so the Robocop division would have their product.
I haven't even gotten that far into the video and I can guess that the crime issue is so bad in this because of the people's own choices, not because corrupt corporations are encouraging and enabling crime in order to further their own business plans and establish a further monopoly of control and 'security'. Probably because the writers would be biting the hand that feeds them if they went the latter route.

This show’s demographic is a pretty small portion of the US, UK, and Canada which isn’t to say the majorities in those places aren’t also full of lazy bums and 304s.
But they have had an unbelievable amount stolen from them. The entire Progressive Era has been every generation voting for more government and more socialism, thus enslaving the next generation to pay for it, and the can got kicked down the road with each successive generation. So, while they may not have ever gotten off the couch and provided anything to society--they've also been saddled with over a century of "Give me free stuff now and later generations can pay for it later". Continuing the cycle, ultimately is the fault of previous generations not breaking it.
As much as I hate millenials and zoomers, they aren't the reason everything is so f*cked up, just the reason everything continues to be so f*cked up. The reason everything is so f*cked up is previous generations engaging in the same voting habits for over a century. Like it or not, both parties are progressive, and "Less Government" is never on the ballot.

As far as I understand it, this was a Canadian production so the strike wouldn't have reached that far North and they're not beholden to the WGA union. Though it appears they must've studied at the same Wokeology Academy Of Writing, so they had that in common at least.

There is so much wrong with this that it won't last a single season. They will can it before the first one is even finished airing. Police will NOT shoot unarmed protestors, they will do what they're trained to do, de-escalate the situation and if that doesn't work they will use non-lethal force, pepper spray, water cannons, bean bag guns, NEVER live ammo. This is Canada, we don't do lethal force unless there is no other choice. Police in cities like Toronto will always use their tasers before their guns. Protestors up here do not trespass on private property, they will stay in public areas like the road or a sidewalk. Whoever writes this doesn't know how Canada works AT ALL. I hope Global regrets ever putting this shit out when the ratings tank so bad they lose all the money they put into it. Yes, Global TV is network TV, not streaming. They simulcast on streaming but still keep the TV stations. And are beholden to the ratings like every other network show.

The issue wasn't with john being authoritarian (every king was, because authoritarianism is kinda part of a *functioning* monarchy, though most people misunderstand what it authoritarianism is or why it isnt always a bad thing), the issue was him taxing everyone to death.

From here, we see Robin Hood did not steal indiscriminately from the rich but only from certain corrupt types. The excerpt here is Robin counting the goods of a corrupt bishop he captured. But he wasn't a religion hater either. Immediately after, he finds and leaves expensive candles alone since it's the kind used for holy services instead of being part of the bishop's luxuries.

I get annoyed when people talk about Robin Hood. He stole from the rich to give to the poor, but who was the rich, and why were they poor? Because the king was overly taxing the people. What was stolen was the tax money given back to the people.
Yes I pointed that out to someone in another comment. Robin stole from the tax collector and was returning the money. He wasn't taking it from rich individuals.
Exactly It was the crown and the tax collectors he went after. Any rich person or business owner (for modern day term) was left alone as they were being taxed just as hard. He didn't help them as much as they were able to weather the storm as it was while the homeless, elderly and families couldn't. Anyone who earned their money fairly was left alone. He was basically someone who resorted to being a criminal due to his heart of gold. If a rich person had their house or a merchant cart raided by the Sheriff or the crown. Robin would stand up for them and help them regain what was stolen or taken.
Well that changed over the centuries in which these stories were written.
I think in the oldest surviving story he actually only steals from Bishops, Archbishops and the Sheriff himself.
From what I remember, he was stealing from the (acting King) Prince John because King Richard was away on the Crusades. John was taxing everyone to death and Robin being ‘of king and country’ took back what was wrongfully stolen.
@@GamingProspector84 Precisely. Robin saw Richard as the true heir to the British throne, whilst John was a clown who was driving people to poverty out of self-interest. Hence he ironically was a sort of agent for the crown, making sure rural Britain didn't collapse.

I just did a bit of calculation and found out each cop has to be making maximum 833.33 per month, without any sort of other benefits and bonuses, to be able to stay under 20grand, which is the most expensive drones you mentioned. The name "Pyle" is because Howard Pyle did one of the best-known collections of Robin Hood stories. But I fully believe the writers for this show didn't know that and assumed it was the name of King Richard.

With how Sher Wood treats officers lawfully doing their jobs it's a real concern that they may try to hide her.
How is Sherwood the most valuable property in the city? It's just a shitty apartment block.
How is that $60 drone worth more than the police's salary? Why is ten men to search an entire apartment block unreasonable?
How is the villain a dude who wanted someone arrested for trespassing on his property but the hero is a career criminal?

I love the fantastic writing of a plot of how apparently for a family that has no one in there that has jobs or any money, and nobody in authority bothers to ask how they just suddenly came up with 30 grand on the fly the day after John gets his super expensive car stolen.
My favorite part of these reviews is how Az gives up with ten minutes to go in the episode and just gives a thirty second synopsis. All hail Jose!
