    If i remember right one of your first reviews for a battery was a golden mate battery. I'm liking golden mate more and more.

      Yes sir! Goldenmate was the first battery I reviewed on the channel! Different style of reviews now lol. But the first goldenmate also known as “your brand here” battery has been in continuous service in one way or another since the initial review. Just a solid workhorse!

      I know! Vast majority of the 12V batteries are IP65 rated.
      Nice to see this one pass my bucket IP67 test lol!

    I like waterproof. Never seen someone actually submerge it for 5 minutes.
    Not a fan of the slow charge speed. Seems to be 50a only. For a single battery, that’s not good. In a bank of 4 batteries it wouldn’t matter too much.
    With that display, they might want to be competition to server rack batteries.
    And at that low price it’s a very interesting battery

      They claim it, I test it lol! It was fun for sure!
      The battery does have a conservative charge rate by the manufacturer, this is par for course on by many brands regardless of cell type. This is mostly for end user safety/warranty/lifespan purposes.
      Beyond the scope of this video, but cylindrical cells are tough, dissipate heat quickly and some manufacturer’s cells are rated at 3C rates! Easy to find info on goldenmates cell provider for this battery with online search. Some impressive information on the cells.

    Amazing. In-bat shunt set to show 0% when cells at 20%. This would increase cycle life significantlly.

    • @TheCornucopiaProject-bd5jk
      @TheCornucopiaProject-bd5jk 22 дні тому +2

      It would but you also don’t get to use the full capacity. You’d need to add one more battery to your system to account for it

      @@TheCornucopiaProject-bd5jk Oh of course, but still the pack pulled the advertised 1280wh while still at 12v, a very healthy discharged voltage. If you test a true 100ah cell composed pack, which I have plenty, if you do DoD to 100%, cells can go as low as 10v, which isn't particlarly the best voltage to discharge to, but only THEN does it pull 1280wh and at 80% DoD, usually leaves the discharged bat at 12v, but if pack is exactly 100ah, you can maybe get around the 1100wh mark, which would be less than adverstised but that's the DoD recommended.
      So you basically either do recommended DoD and never get full adverstised capacity, or do full DoD to get that advertised rating but get less cycle life. At least in my testing. This is 0.3c and 0.2c discharge tests. Also have 0.5c data which isn't particularly too much different if wire sizing is correct and cells are healthy.
      I only discharge below 12v if there is an emergency balckout.

      I have never pulled my 12V systems below 12.0 so far. Usually never get below 12.8-13.0 unless I need that capacity for something during a rainy/cloudy weather pattern.
      A few rips down to empty shouldn’t make a meaningful difference on cycle life of LiFePO4. More on this later.
      Also with LiFePO4 cells not too large of a capacity difference at .2/.3/.4/.5C etc at least from the cells perspective. Waste heat through BMS/wire/connections can be noticeable though at higher rates. I always pull down with an inverter. Folks need real world capacity. A dedicated discharge test rig could get even more capacity out than I did from the Goldenmate

    Like always, awesome info!
    Would you please review a 300 ah battery like the Kepworth? 300 ah for less than $500 seems like a great deal and that with a Topbull 4000 would be perfect for my Winnebago View.
    TIA

      @@THEOFFGRIDMOUNTAINHOMESTEAD Just a suggestion but the 12.8v 300ah Newti Power LiFePo4 seems too good to be true at $470 considering most 400ah batteries are $1,000+.

    Will this be good for 48v golf carts if ran in series?

    • @THEOFFGRIDMOUNTAINHOMESTEAD
      @THEOFFGRIDMOUNTAINHOMESTEAD  16 днів тому +1

      It’s not listed per the manufacturer for Golf Cart applications. You really want a battery with 200A BMS and higher surge ratings. If you’re looking for a 48V golf cart battery, please check back in a few days! I have been working with an awesome battery that should be perfect for your needs. Take care thanks for watching!
