I wish there would be more guys like the owner of this masterpiece. So passionate about the car, you can tell it's his baby! A lot of guys who have as much money as he does just buy the car & never use it.
I think what I like about Jay's Garage, is rather than talking about his own collection. He's talking about other peoples cars and respecting them as his own trying to give you a history about the specific vehicle while at the same time delivering the history of the vehicle and talking to the owner rather than over them. What I like is it's an exchange too the owner of the vehicle gets to see Jays collection, while at the same time. Jay can showcase their car. The back drop, his personal collection, is a real thing that you can touch and appreciate at the same time as the piece he's displaying and personally. I think. It would be good for his community if once a week. Month or even a season. They held an event in his area just to hang out with other enthusiast. Just to see who showed up.
Beautiful machine. I had grown up "in the pits" in the SCCA racing scene in the early 60's and got to wander around and check out race cars somewhat like this. Great times. Great memories.

An American called Peter Brock engineered this car, in 1999, from the design of his from the 1960's, then at a road race in Australia, a car called the Daytona Coupe that was made in Australia as a replica of the Peter Brock Shelby Daytona, was being driven by the best Australian driver to have lived, was killed in it, his name was Peter Brock.
I think Jack Brabham, Alan Jones, Mark Webber, Vern Schuppan, to name just a few Aussies. Were better drivers than Brocky. He was very good, but did not really take on the best in the world.
@@davidholmes4088 Different form of racing, F1 compared to Group A which was endurance racing, though Alan Jones was good in all forms of racing, yet Brock will always get the nod because of his Bathurst wins.

In my younger days, I was an avid reader of the British magazines _"Thoroughbred & Classic Cars"_ and _"Classic & Sports Car "_ . I don't remember which it was, but what caught my eye on the cover, was the original Daytona Coupe. I'd never heard of it until then. In the article they mentioned that back in the 60s, Britain had no speedlimits on the motorways (also unknown to me). Anyway, AC took it out on the M1 at 3 or 4 at night to run it through it's paces thinking it would be safe enough what with everybody asleep. Well, they clocked 190+mph... Day after they were in the papers, and that was apparently the end of unlimited speeds in Britain...
Whenever I hear the name Pete Brock, I immediately think of the Australian race driver, Peter Brock, who was unfortunately killed in a racing accident in 2006. Ironically, I guess, in a Shelby Daytona Coupe. When I first saw the name of this car, I thought it was a tribute to him, of sorts, but no. Just turns out that someone of the same name built it.

As a kid growing up in the 60s, the Shelby Daytona Coupe was perhaps my favorite. Just a gorgeous body shape, almost as swoopy and sexy at the Jaguar XK-E. Yet, unlike the XK-E, this car had an American V-8 under the hood, just a throbbing. growling hunk of foot-lb torque that was rarely matched in Europe back in the day. And Bruce Goldsmith's version here is just a dream. The color is drop-dead gorgeous, and it's updated where it needs to be updated yet it keeps that wonderful, imaginative shaping and engineering that was at the heart of the 1960s. The automotive engineers and street-rod car guys knew little of aerodynamics back then, but they compensated for that by dreaming big, really BIG! Thanks Jay and Bruce!

Strange that jay doesn’t seem as keen on this car as you’d think. Fantastically good looking car. Very interesting man as well. Really wish jay had been more interested
I think he may be a little quirky because of his overuse of his hands when he's talking, I think it's odd that they don't fix the camera angle to include his face
@kragseven especially in a day when wants a throwaway car. Something cheap. Without these cars and passionate owners people like me Wouldn't have learned anything in vocational school. I'd rather hear everything he has to say about this car than some babbling fool talk about brand new stuff.
This guy is so passionate about this car. I think it's awesome. So many guests Jay has have no personality, or don't seem like they know what they really habe
Peter Brock was a nine times winner of Bathurst nine hour endurance race. Sadly he died on a motor rally on the outskirts of Perth in 2006 in a car very similar to this .
not the same person the one you talking about was only known in America for his oil commercial on tv ,the one here is Pete Brock a car designer used to work for Shelby and Kaminary
Different Peter Brock. One an American car designer and one an Aussie race car legend. And yes he was killed in one of these replica cars. That car was pure evil!
I've had the pleasure of running into Mr.Brock several times, Jay is right here, Peter is still very fit, handsome, salt of the earth type, you just can't believe he was responsible for all that neat stuff. Very humble, loves talking about racing of any sort.
In NJ we had a dealer that had two of these at the same time ,he was Larry Megibow and owned (The GlassCar) which I would drive my bicycle to his showroom and salivate over his inventory ,Ls6 corvette and Chevelle more 427 corvettes Cobra’s ,the list never ended . Larry and I would talk for hours and he shared his knowledge with me including the fact that there was only 6 of these in existence ,though he took advantage of a lot of his co-signers he was always more than gracious to this car crazy young kid ,I’m 61 know and can remember it like it was yesterday .
Isn't it nice to just see two guys discussing their passion, enjoying the conversation, taking the car out for a spin, and not having some stupid music ruining it?
Jay says Shelby was a character, not all of it good. I often wonder how many people Shelby out right fucked. Shelby went to his grave owing my dad big bucks on aluminum used to make wheels. Dad beat him to the grave, and I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't waiting at the Pearly Gates for Shelby. If anyone mentioned Shelby this or that, you'd hear the story every time. Dad hated Shelby's guts, I have a feeling if they had run into each other Shelby would have made it to the grave first.
I don't understand the people who are harping on this guy's "yacking" on about the car. If you were as passionate as he is about anything you'd want to tell the person closest to you anything and everything about it.
That's the problem with each new generation being born. Hardly any passion about anything. Not say all are that way but mostly. And It's a shame. Once these cars and the people that are passionate about them are gone that'll be all she wrote

AugustFourSeven It sounds great, so smooth. Not too boomy and bassy.
newmabreu96 alfas sound great but for me a ford more so a 427 sounds great but really yes alfas can sound really great as well
sounds pretty normal 8 to me
What an awesome video! Love its engine’s noise. The owner is really nice as well.Thank you for sharing it with us!
I love how much this guy loves his car!!
the car looks amazing on the road. i bet it drives great as well.
Iv been watching jay and this show for years, this takes the cake I just love this thing AND this is by far the best sounding car since forever, great
Pete brings this car to Cars and Coffee Las Vegas almost every weekend.
He's a car guy. He knows what he's talking about lighten up.
I think Jay loves this car. Just the look on his face when he drives it...:)
I know this is one video JAY is counting the minutes til its over. This dude wont shut up
As a kid growing up in the 60s, the Shelby Daytona Coupe was perhaps my favorite.
Looked much better with Shelby's decals, wheels and seals around the lights
And minus those flares!
Such an incredible design. Great color too. I wonder how it'd look in white.
Buy some glasses man...
It is absolutely UNREAL how you could come up with a condescending remark to such a harmless comment. Honestly, that's a talent !
***** Its this (Trolling) thing. Best to ignore mynameisray and the like.
I wonder how it'd look in black and red...

This guy knows more about cars than Jay and Jay is worried
That's apparent, lol.
Always thought these were gorgeous cars. If I could build a factory 5 one some day with my son's I'd be a happy man.
Hope it happens for you brother.
It was nice to see how passionate this guy is about this gorgeous race care!
i'd like to have a car that leno doesn't have. Oh ya I do a 2007 dodge caravan
This reply adds a few more thumbs up for your comment.
I do recall a camera vehicle of that era
2003 toyota avensis
Leno's production crew actually uses one, sorry.
Me too! For what it's for, there isn't anything better than the Dodge minivan.
Gorgeous car. Love the enthusiasm of the owner.
It's called PASSION!
i just watched a couple of jays videos about the shelby cars . And i swear if i closed my eyes it was like the best music video ever !!!
Strange that jay doesn’t seem as keen on this car as you’d think.
Fantastically good looking car.
Very interesting man as well.
Really wish jay had been more interested
I think Jay died a little inside when he realized it was a kit car. A really special kit car, but a kit car.
I don't see why everyone has a problem with the owner...
Kyong Hansen BAHAHAHAHAHA
I think he may be a little quirky because of his overuse of his hands when he's talking, I think it's odd that they don't fix the camera angle to include his face
@kragseven especially in a day when wants a throwaway car. Something cheap. Without these cars and passionate owners people like me Wouldn't have learned anything in vocational school. I'd rather hear everything he has to say about this car than some babbling fool talk about brand new stuff.
Jelousy.
They keep cutting the guys stories out while Jay is driving hahaha
+Adam And nothing wrong with that.
+Sss It's called Jay Leno's Garage, not Bruce's Garage.
Well it is only a half hour program.
Yeah I noticed that. It seems like Jay doesn't like him a little bit.
"Every single bolt has been replaced with American..."
Where's the horn?
"IT'S BRITISH."
😂
Lol😂😂😂
I didnt know our horns where on a dash lol
+505197 Every one who bought his snake oil fuel/oil additives....
@505197 I'll take "stuff that never happened" for $5000, Alex.
Calling Shelby a character is being kind.
If I win the jackpot in the lottery, I’m building one of these. This car is absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for sharing 🔥🔥🔥
Great wristwatch too. Looks like an Invid sentinel.
I don't like the fender flares but it's still an amazing looking car. And sounds great!
BEAST of a vehicle.
Jay I’m in Australia and there is a world of cars you have not discovered.if you could find a XU1 or a A9X it would be priceless to be on your show.
As a 14 year old i can proudly say i wanna visit his garage like any guy would
"Where's the horn?" seriously? It's under the right foot.
People that are complaining about this guy being yappy is because they are not real car enthusiasts, in other words fake!
Neff Juarez bs this guy is annoying af.
Right what a bunch of slack spined whinny children.
@@teknique8292 then don't watch it easy as that dickhole.
THIS GUY IS A CAR GUY THAT HAS GONE OVER EVERY ASPECT OF THIS MACHINE ..... AND MADE IT THE BEST IT CAN BE .... WE USE TO CALL THAT BULLETPROOF
THE FLARES JUST MEAN THE DAMN THING HAS SOME REAL BIG RUBBER ON THE ROAD ....... I NEVER HEARD OF THIS CAR AND IT'S DEFINITELY NOT COMMON .... I LIKE THE CAR GUY AS MUCH AS THE CAR ..... HE HAS MADE A PERFECT CHOICE OF A CAR TO DEVOTE HIMSELF TO
I'M HAPPY FOR THE CAR AND HAPPY FOR THE CAR GUY THEY WERE MADE FOR EACH OTHER IT'S LIKE A PERFECT MARRIAGE ... WANNA BET HE TAKES A LOOK AT IT LIKE A PARENT LOOKS IN ON A CHILD BEFORE HE GOES TO BED AT NIGHT !!!!!
THIS IS DEFINITELY MY FAVORITE VIDEO!!!!!
I THINK JAY EVEN HAS A GRIN OF PLEASURE WHEN HE WAS BEHIND THE WHEEL
Aussie motor sport legend Peter Brock died in one of these cars designed by another Peter Brock.
King of the mountain!
The irony is strong in that fact.
RIP 05.
@@SuperFrankski moo
The Simeone Museum has so many wonderful race cars on display... 20s Bentley’s, Cunninghams, Alfa Romeos, Ferraris, Mercedes, Jaguar, etc.
It’s a treat each time
Maybe the best version of a Shelby Daytona Coup out there!
I don't know if it's the same in the US but if you parked this and a Bugatti Veyron in Europe this would get all the looks
I'm looking at the comments, and all I'm seeing is a bunch of over opinionated droolies. Well. Here's a reality check guys! Anyone can have an opinion. But not everyone can have a badass car, such as this one!
*CHECK MATE!*
Hey, Einstein, checkmate is all one word.
RIP , Peter Brock the great Australian touring car multiple championship winner [no relation] who was killed racing in one of these at the Targa Western Australia in 2006
The first thing I thought of when I saw the headline. RIP Brocky
Beautiful car. And what a great guy. So enthusiastic and so loves the car.
Superformance was here outside of Cincinnati in Ross Ohio. They are no longer there. It was really cool to go to that shop
This guy is someone I’d hang with, love car geeks
