Great video of the Superformance Daytona and nice to see Donald behind the wheel! I work for Superformance and our cars are built to the highest quality. My father (Dave MacDonald) ran the first built Shelby Daytona CSX2287 to the marques first victory at the 12hrs of Sebring in 1964. Well done Jay and Donald
Rich!!! Hope you and the family are well! The work done at Superformance is indeed of incredible quality. Thanks for tuning in, and for the kind words! As we hope you know, we appreciate your friendship and are honored to have your father’s Cooper Monaco King Cobra in the collection.
Its amazing Brock designed that car at such a very young age and hit it out of the park. If they would have not gave up on it and put all the attention to the GT40s just think how much more the car could have accomplished.
My wife and I love our (now her) Daytona Coupe. Over 70k miles and over 2k on track. We've taken it on tons of long trips (great luggage room in back) and very comfortable considering how capable it is on track. Superformance and Peter Brock made for a winning combo in designing and delivering a modern GT car with retro looks!🏁🏁🏁
Doug! Welcome to the channel! We love our Daytona Coupe - had it out for a track day at Club Motorsports just a few weeks ago and then had the chance to take it for a spin with Jay. Doesn't get much better than that! Phenomenal machine.
Oh you lucky guys, this is my dream car! I love the Coupe and you should do a long interview with its creator Mr. Pete Brock. His stories are hust amazing.
Automotive royalty. Listen to that engine. Wow. I have heard of this company. Mr. Osborne is decked out in that suit. Beautiful car 60s style. Mr. Osborne likes it. Yeah. Need earplugs maybe. Lol. Love you guys. ❤💙🐉👍🤑😎
Dear Donald, very very nice movie 😊, it’s so nice to see the Daytona dynamic …I have also one since 2019, SPC0040, and because it was stored for about 10 years, we restored it and did lots of changes to make it a real driver car … well I m from Germany and here we can go maximum speed on the autobahn 😊. I love the Daytona since I was 8 years old in 1968…and it took a long time until one is mine . When Superformance came with the Daytona , I was shure it only could be this car for me …with history and the fingerprint of Peter Brock . For me it’s not a kit car , for me it is a contiuation car. At the beginning of the restoration Ron Weingart connected me to Peter Brock, what a amazing friendly and fine gentlemen. He helped me so much with very interesting informations during the restoration …I love him 😊…we are in contact until now , because he always want to know , what we are doing with the Daytona😊 Very sad that it is not possible to put pictures in here🤷♂️…by the way , my vintage team jacket is blue , because , when they raced in Europe , they used the blue ones . All the best to you from Germany , Bernd
Superformance make great cars! Saw one of their GT40's (a "roadster") version at my local gas station about a year ago. The owner took some time getting it filled up. The pump hose barely reached the off-side filler. Gotta love those twin tanks. That did give me some time to get a good look at it though. Beautifully made. Hard to tell that the body work was composite, even up close. And what a great sound with those tuned pipes ending in the famous chrome trumpets.
nice jacket Donald, looking sharp as usual, we love ya. Shelby/ford has so much magical history. Im a member of Nor Cal Shelby and we just rented sears point raceway last weekend. in November we rent Laguna Seca. I met you at pebble beach and I sang opera to you. your a good person just like Jay.
A fantastic museum to visit. Always a highlight for day trip adventures from CT. I built myself a FFR Cobra and it gives many of the same driving experiences.
We agree! They make some magnificent machines. You can be as original as possible or make it exactly to your liking with a newer and/or more powerful drivetrain. We love it!
Great video, Donald and Jay. I own a Superformance Mk III. Superformance builds phenomenal cars, the build quality, fit and finish are second to none, these cars are absolute jewels!
Thank you for featuring one of my favorite car designs of all time. Amazing that the original race cars could be bought for bargain basement prices when they moved on to other projects. Crazy what you'd par for one of them today (if you could even find one for sale). Think THIS replicar would be my first choice if I suddenly came into money. Beautiful ride.
That's hilarious 07:00am Dad "" Honey I'm going to the grocery store" Wife,,,, Ok be home for dinner" . Beautiful grocery getter. Love the show and all the content. Keep up the great work. Cheer's keep the faith. Dean
Ooooohhh mannnn... Imho 1 of the 3 most beautiful American race cars. The others being the Ford GT-40 and the Penske-Donahue #6 Sunoco Javelin. Gr8 feature.
Although I love these collaborations with Donald and Jay, I really don’t know much about the former other than he is equally knowledgeable about automobiles.
I sold my 68 Mustang GT and the price I got is just enough to build one of these. Im not spending the money until we have an administration that's not threatening to eliminate cars... You know who in 2024!
We can neither confirm nor deny whether that was intentional. However, Donald is often quite good at matching our 4-wheeled stars, so we’d venture to believe this one was on purpose.
The true Ferrari killer. The proper documentary needs to be made on this vehicle and the team behind it. This beat the GT40s and almost won Le Mans overall and got the Ford factory attention.
Ford issued a dictate that Shelby was to concentrate on the GT40s for 1965. When the Daytona Coupe won the World Manufactures title they were being run by Alan Mann racing in England. Shelby didn't even want the cars back and considered having them dumped in the English Chanel as a cheaper alternative to shipping. Alan Mann personally footed the bill to ship them back to Shelby American. Shelby G40s would have won at LeMans in 1965 but Ford demanded he replace the engines with Ford assembled ones for the race. They all failed due to bad head bolts. They learned their lesson and used engines prepped by racers for 66 and 67. But they messed up again in the 68 TransAm series when they demanded Shelby install the tunnel port engines as supplied and not even take a peek inside. 4 engine failures cost Titus the championship. He had delivered the 1965 B Production championship in a GT350, the 1966 TransAm title went to Ford for Titus' win at Riverside and the 67 TA title went to Ford with Titus driving. 68 started well with Titus/Bucknam at the 24 hours of Daytona placing the Mustang 4th overall behind 3 prototype factory Porsches - 56 laps ahead of the 2nd place Penske/Donahue Camaro. I've always wondered if the GT40 program would have continued if the Daytona Coupe won overall at LeMans in 1964 if not for a cracked oil cooler that dropped them to 4th overall but still with their class win,
Today, a "supercar" wants bags of time to design and refine; the Daytona Coupe was originally built in a hurry, on modified chassis for the Cobra. Yet, like some many racing ventures Carroll Shelby got into, it beat the snot out of nearly everything. Donald, you're the historian; where are the six original Daytonas today? Particularly the original that has a slightly higher roof line? Always have a moment for whatever you guys are up to!
Of all the Shelby cars, the Daytona is the least well known and the least respected...and I do not understand that. This car brought Carroll Shelby an FIA Championship for GT Manufacturers in 1965. This was the first time an American car constructor won a championship. Shelby Daytona Coupes won GT class in 1964 at the 12 Hours of Sebring, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the RAC Tourist Trophy, in 1965 at the 24 Hours of Daytona, again at the 12 Hours of Sebring, the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, the Nurburgring 1000KM, the 12 Hours of Reims, the Enna-Pergusa and set 25 land speed records at Bonneville. Styling is matter of opinion. I love the lines on this car. Performance is fact and its heritage and lineage cannot be disputed.
Yeah it’s a kit car just like a lot of race cars are kit cars. Technically the second and third generation Ford GT’s and the new GTD Mustangs are sort of kits…assembled by a race car mechanics. I’d take any one of those “kit” cars any time. I’d even settle for a Daytona Coupe. 😆
That car could be as fast as some modern supercars if you spec it out right. If you want it with twin clutch and paddle shifters they can do that. Carroll Shelby had paddle shifters in his personal Daytona Coupe. Peter Brock has an LS7 in his personal Daytona Coupe. There are also wide-body models known as the LM edition. There are so many mistakes, concerning this car, made by these two it's embarrassing.
Yes, he wasn't clear - it varies by state. Some states allow a car to be inspected and be registered by bodystyle - in this case the car can be registered as a 1965 and you will not need an annual smog inspection, et cetera. Some states limit the amount of cars that can be done per year, for example, the state of California allows 500 of them.

Rich, do you know Rem's daughter? She is married to one of my second cousins. I think she mentioned your name in the last few years?
It'll always be my favorite body style. Every curve is perfection, conveys raw power, and cool factor? Over the top!
Its amazing Brock designed that car at such a very young age and hit it out of the park. If they would have not gave up on it and put all the attention to the GT40s just think how much more the car could have accomplished.
Thanks guys this series never disappoints.
They never do!
I've never seen Mr. Osborne so happy and relaxed. It's cool to see him authentically happy while driving this awesome beast!
My wife and I love our (now her) Daytona Coupe. Over 70k miles and over 2k on track. Great production as always gentlemen
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!
Racing jacket and a bow tie! Not easy to rock that look - but somehow it works here.
I love to watch these two. Just great fun to watch :)
Vintage team jacket and a bowtie... Now that's class! I can't decide between the GT40 and the Daytona
Nice car. Glad you did the video. All my best to all at Audrain!
Thank you!
Probably the best episode guys. And I have watched them all. Awesome to both Jay and Donald👍
Glad you enjoyed!
Donny! That car, that jacket, and that Bow Tie. you look marvelous... priceless!
nice jacket Donald, looking sharp as usual, we love ya. Shelby/ford has so much magical history. Im a member of Nor Cal Shelby and we just rented sears point raceway last weekend. in November we rent Laguna Seca. I met you at pebble beach and I sang opera to you. your a good person just like Jay.
One of the best built by the best. The quality of work they do is incredible.
A fantastic museum to visit. Always a highlight for day trip adventures from CT. I built myself a FFR Cobra and it gives many of the same driving experiences.
So glad to hear! Bring that Cobra to a Cars & Coffee before the season is over!
I've always thought of Superformance as a car builder not a kit car manufacturer.
We agree! They make some magnificent machines. You can be as original as possible or make it exactly to your liking with a newer and/or more powerful drivetrain. We love it!
Beautiful vehicle, I’ve always thought they was so far a head of their time.
Another awesome car and video. The original was always a favorite, this one seems even better.
Great video, Donald and Jay. I own a Superformance Mk III. Superformance builds phenomenal cars, the build quality, fit and finish are second to none, these cars are absolute jewels!
'Simplify, then add lightness.’ -Colin Chapman
Donald's reasoning for shaving the stash.😂
LOL😂

Beautiful and powerful vehicle
Great content as usual l. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Mr. Osborne, the absence of that magnificent "Stach and Beard" leaves me saddened!
I love these 2 doing these reviews ❤❤
Glad we get to share these videos with all of you! Thanks for watching!
Great video,thanks👍🇺🇸
Osborne is cool! Dude knows his stuff!
Lov that jacket Donald's wearing ❤MIGWECH Audrain from Toronto ❤
That's hilarious 07:00am Dad "" Honey I'm going to the grocery store" Wife,,,, Ok be home for dinner" .
Beautiful grocery getter. Love the show and all the content. Keep up the great work.

Very solid choices, there!
@@AudrainMuseumNetwork just sayin'...
Thx!
would have been SO funny if Jay was wearing Donald's moustache! great show, gentlemen!
GREAT sound! and the entertainment, that's how it has to be. You know what... you deserve a SUBSCRIPTION from me! Greetings from Germany.
Car is beautiful
Although I love these collaborations with Donald and Jay, I really don’t know much about the former other than he is equally knowledgeable about automobiles.
Donald. You drive this like a gentleman......Jay wants to drive this , like myself , as a HOOLIGAN !!!🥰🥰🥰🥰😜l
Felix shaved his mustache 😳 Oscar looking good ❤great videos guys, keep it up ❤

I sold my 68 Mustang GT and the price I got is just enough to build one of these.
Im not spending the money until we have an administration that's not threatening to eliminate cars...
You know who in 2024!
Nice open it up a little Jay.
Hard to hear u two but the car looks great and sounds great one of my favorite cars
Hard to hear anything with those side pipes!
Outstanding for sure. I am sure I am behind the curve, but is there any bid/book info on your new look? Kidding, you look great.
Love that the bow tie matches the seat belts…
We can neither confirm nor deny whether that was intentional. However, Donald is often quite good at matching our 4-wheeled stars, so we’d venture to believe this one was on purpose.
The true Ferrari killer. The proper documentary needs to be made on this vehicle and the team behind it. This beat the GT40s and almost won Le Mans overall and got the Ford factory attention.
Flawless !
I hope these two got to open it up on a highway!
Are not the Superperformance coupe available with an aluminum body from Kirkham Motorcars for an additional price?
The reason for full safety shoulder harness belts is no air bag system in the steering wheel and dashboard. That's OK. Buckle UP ✌️
Ford issued a dictate that Shelby was to concentrate on the GT40s for 1965. When the Daytona Coupe won the World Manufactures title they were being run by Alan Mann racing in England. Donald Osborne is my favorite "car guy", he just replaced Colin Chapman.
He shaved the mustache to add lightness.
Nice Shelby kit, Donald, very appropriate.
Osborne has a great mic on him, Leno you can hardly hear in comparison!
More than 6 in Historic motor sports. Much like Lotus Cortina mk1 and Austin/Morris Cooper s in motor sports
Is there a closed track nearby....?
Remember the first Corvette had a fiberglass body, and never any other material used since 1953 - not a kit car....... Ray

Having driven a real Shelby 427 Cobra, I’d rather have the 289.
I sold Dodge Vipers and they were the same formula, a broad axe and their European competition a scalpel.
Funny you mention the Viper! Jay and Donald discuss that connection in our Viper video: ua-cam.com/video/FPtVRKdIzBU/v-deo.htmlsi=7zNvMhpP8FAW2SkS
I wonder what he was going to say about cobra buyers complaining about its lightness.

Superformance will build you a 427 Cobra or Daytona Coupe in Aluminum if you are prepared to pay for it.

where's the spare tire?
Donalds mustache is gone 🤨
It shall return! When? We do not know! Stay tuned to find out!
It's locked in a safe down in the basement.
yeah I could do with more Audraine and less Tim Allen lol

Hahaha a radio 😂
See what happens when you search “Donald Osborne”? More great car channels.
I thought it was going to be OZZY?
Rather have the 347 small block and 15"wheels.Those wheels take away from the look of the car.Make it look like an out of scale hot wheels car.
Well, that’s the beauty of Superformance - there are so many available options!
The car is not an exact replica and Pete Brock designed those wheels.
So the body is aluminum? Or fiberglass 👎🏻
Either. Fiberglass is the redesigned car, aluminium is available with leaf spring suspension, smaller body.
It's not a "1965" anything and Shelby didn't build it. Nice car, though.
It's better than the original car, materials and assembly.
Very nice
Superformance doesn't even answer emails. WTF
Call one of their US dealers, you cannot communicate directly with factory in South Africa. Hillbank Motors is a good one.
