    Just don't go deeper in land, stay at coast. There is nothing to see more then coast. Be good boy.

    Do you have to be an extreme sports man to do this? Or is everyone allowed to go to Antarctica if he has enough money?

    • @gchead
      @gchead  10 років тому +1

      You do need to provide a medical certificate but certainly no need to be an extreme sportsman or woman :)

    I am so grateful that quality videos like this are cost-free nowadays.
    I am improving my work every day to attain a value level equal to this or higher.
    I really love what I am doing and I know that there are viewers who would appreciate it too!

    Hi Geoff, wonderful video. Thank you for sharing. Really gives us a great idea of what to expect. Can you tell me what month you were there? We are still trying to decide what month to visit. Thanks again. Susan

    In the description box where u mentioned the price, is that total price spent on your trip or just specifically kayak trip?

    • @gchead
      @gchead  8 років тому

      The price in the description is for the base trip excluding extras like kayaking.

    What a video!!! So well done, tomorrow I will start a special savings account for the trip. What was the name of the tour company/cruise ship, and the cost? What's next for you, the Kerguellen Islands?

    • @gchead
      @gchead  10 років тому

      We did the tour with Quark Express on the Russian research vessel Akademik Sergey Vavilov. Cost US$4,600 plus optional extras for kayaking and camping on the ice. Highly recommended!
      Mmmm Kerguellen Islands. You've got me thinking now :)

    Hi Geoff. Amazing video. I had one question which I didn't think was covered in the comments below. Which month did you travel in? It seems like there is still a lot of ice, so I am guessing around November?
    The footage of the orcas taking the seal, was that on this trip? Amazing experience.

    • @gchead
      @gchead  10 років тому

      Thanks Damien. We travelled in December, the very beginning of the season. Yes the orcas footage was all filmed on the that trip. I think we were very lucky. Our guide was excited too. He said it was the first time he'd seen orcas close-up from a zodiac before.

    i want to do this trip but the 3:15-3:25 waves is normal ? I dont think I could make it in the middle of ocean with this kind of waves i d have a panic attack...

    • @gchead
      @gchead  9 років тому +1

      mec7up The big waves were only during the Drake Passage crossing. Fairly typical I understand. As soon as we arrived at Antarctica it was nice and calm though.

    Excellent video! But those orcas seem dangerous. Was there a possibility that they would decide to tip over the boat and snack on the people, like they did with the seals?

    • @gchead
      @gchead  10 років тому +1

      Thanks Gryn. Yes those huge orcas were pretty scary I must say! Not helped by our guide saying it was the first time he had experienced close encounters with orcas from a zodiac boat. Apparently they don't normally eat humans though.

    Absolutely, take at least one back-up camera. One of the passengers destroyed his expensive Canon when his kayak capsized!

    When you were in the captains area! Is anyone on the ship aloud to just walk right up there and walk in do you have to ask or is it just special for you?

    • @gchead
      @gchead  10 років тому

      @RantZ_IE. At certain times of the day the passengers were allowed to visit the bridge.

    • @SuperDarius01

      Also was there internet access and an age limit?

    • @gchead
      @gchead  10 років тому

      No internet access in the Antarctic. Great!!
      Sorry I don't know what the age limit is. There were no kids on this trip.
      Have a look at www.quarkexpeditions.com/ for more details.
