    He actually kinda was marketed as a shoot fighter when they did promo video for him in ECW. He talked about his experience in Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Kenpo Karate, and "my only addiction is competition".

      @madamefeast4824 only when he's choking out guys half his size he looks believable. I am a Punk fan, but I don't think he was ever the best in the world. Great promo, good worker in his prime. Completely agree that he throws horrible kicks, and everyone used to give me shit for saying that. Unfortunately, his body is too frail to take the ass beating from DM Hunk we are all waiting for.

      You guys who bring up the "if it was up to him" thing need to stop. You act like the people at the top in WWE were the ones saying they had to be the main event. No, the promoters made those matches main events too.

    • @0fficialdregs
      @0fficialdregs 5 років тому +9

      let's see either he turn down the main event spot looking money or follow orders and get paid whether a win or loss. Again, "if it was up to him" is valid since he doesn't make the card, the BOOKER does.
      for those saying he's only doing it part timer, really? Where are you when he's training or giving up months training for bouts??

    To be 100% fair, he wasn't sued by the WWE at all. He was sued by their top doctor for slander and defamation of character because Punk said he could've died because of his incompetence. Yes it's pretty bullshit, but when the same doctor is also underfire because of the whole concussion suit he's willing to do anything to protect his image. Even though his image is so shot it's not really worth saving.

    • @MisterJonesification
      @MisterJonesification 6 років тому +25

      And now he's even more of a joke, getting millions he doesn't deserve, and yet again taking a spot from an actual fighter. You give anyone that type of money to get their butt kicked, and they'll do it, so that doesn't make him some sort of tough guy hero, far from it.
      3.5 years of training and he hasn't made any sort of progression at all, and this fight was even worse than the first one, despite 'going longer'...which was only because Jackson was toying with him. He is a joke, and an asshole too, so I enjoyed seeing him humbled in the octagon yet again.

    I’m not a huge fan of the modern era of WWE, but by what I seen and heard of all todays stars, Punk was AMAZING on the mic, where the majority or them are terrible. The fact that he left to try mma, regardless if he sucked at it, he had the balls to try. Most of the people making fun of him haven’t taken a risk in their lives and wouldn’t know a fight if it landed on them. He tried, he failed, big deal. It’s better to regret doing something that not regret even trying. Yeah he sounds like a premadonna but which wrestler isn’t? We are so used to hearing and seeing every single thing people do, including what they do out of the spotlight, we judge EVERYONE, far too harshly for things we shouldn’t even know about. I judge the man for what he did in WWE, and what I saw was a star. And one of my absolute FAVOURITE wwe moments, is in the royal rumble when Snuka and Piper made a comeback, and Punk stopped, say in the corner and just watched every move and laughed his ass off. It was so nice to see one of these famous people be 100% real and just enjoy the moment and not just try to look perfect all the time. Wwe need him, not the other way around. Always be a fan of Punk.

  • @ghostface216
    @ghostface216 6 років тому +94

    Personally, I think this did hurt Punk's value for wrestling a bit. Lesnar is still a big draw in UFC and WWE because he is legitimately terrifying and people know he could snap anytime. Punk, not so much.

    • @mmiller7615
      @mmiller7615 6 років тому +13

      ghostface216 Right. I would have thought that Punk would have represented himself better as a MMA fighter considering that he has been a pro wrestler for decades. Now, I know that wrestling is scripted, but it still requires some athletic ability. Punk looked like he has no control over his body in his two UFC bouts.
      Punk is a joke. His credibility is depleted. Now his complaints and gripes against the WWE just look like whining now.

    • @paulflewitt5599
      @paulflewitt5599 6 років тому +16

      It devalues Punk immensely. How can he possibly go into a title bout against Lesnar or a talent who has ever beaten Lesnar and have any kind of credibility in that match? We know it's scripted, but you still at least want a tiny bit of believability, don't we?

      Exactly. How can Brock vs Punk be booked ever again? The mystique is gone. Brock beats him every single time in legit competition. One punch, one takedown. End game for Punk in seconds in a real fight. Other smaller and less athletic wrestlers vs Brock still have that element of what if?

    • @azure1259
      @azure1259 6 років тому +17

      Rousey was a legit killer before she lost 2 fights badly. Punk lost 2 fights against far less opposition than Rousey faced, even more badly and never won a thing. There's a massive gulf in credibility between Rousey and Punk. Rousey is a legit legendary sportswoman, Punk's a total non athlete.

    While his stock may have dropped a bit from those losses, he could still easily draw money because it wasn't some reputation as an elite fighter that got him over. What got him over was his personality, charisma, mic skills, and rebellious nature.

      NoMoreHideTheBall Maybe, but to be fair to Punk hes probably the best fighter who started training at nearly 40, especially with the bodily damage that comes with being a professional wrestler. Had RoH Punk decided to leave and get into MMA we very well could be talking about him today as one of the greatest of all time, but as it is it was too little too late. He was still the highest paid or second highest paid fighter on the card though I'm sure, and like it or not, that counts for more than his win loss record ever would have.

Just because WWE beat the passion for the business out of him and he didn't want anything to do with the vipers who jockeyed for McMahon's favor while he suffered doesn't mean he's disregarded anything.

      *Just because those guys have no sense of self worth and will swallow any shit McMahon throws their way doesn't mean everyone should be obliged to.*
      Just because you think it's okay for Punk to act like Shawn Micheals/Hulk Hogan doesn't mean that anyone is obliged to think this behavior is okay especially when those two guys have a well known hatedom for it. That also doesn't dispute the point I made about WWE screwing over those guys far worse than Punk ever was.
      *Dude was miserable,*
      And? Dude was miserable before he came to WWE that's more or less why he has a divisive reputation.
      *but to begrudge him for leaving WWE smacks of entitled WWE markdom.*
      Pretending that all of Punk's problems are solely on the hands of WWE and none of it being on the hands of Punk and his sense of entitlement is little better.

He wants characters. Now, Three years ago, Hunter would be of the same mindset. With the explosion of NXT. One can see Hunter is attempting to return Pro-Wrestling to its believable roots. Until Vince, Is no longer calling the shots, We’re stuck with the shit show that is the business in today’s times.

Punk is not going to wrestle for some company that almost got him killed. He remembers Owen Hart. He will return to wrestling in the Independent scene but will wrestle five to ten matches a year. A coward would be someone too scared to fight in the UFC at all.
      And a coward definitely would not have had the balls to quit a financially lucrative job like he had with the WWE to go pursue something extremely violent that he had absolutely no experience in whatsoever.
      A coward would however, get on the internet, call out someone 10x more talented and successful than himself, all while knowing he'll never have to see that person in real life and say it to his face.
      So, come to think of it, looks like you're the real coward, Sir. Congrats ;P
