This was the moment that AEW jumped the shark. I get that performers don't want Punk around -- he can be a crank. But this also told everyone who *IS* a fan of Punk that AEW doesn't want *THEM* around either.
They'll want us back when they see the ratings returns.
This might be the most accurate/fair assessment of the situation that I’ve seen
To me it was the moment where Tony Khan has confirmed he doesnt want a successful wrestling promotion, he wants to be an internet mark and go with a small niche. I can see AEW getting less on there next TV rights deal with there ratings being as bad as they have been and getting rid of there biggest draw
At this point I'm convinced that Jericho just wants to go back to WWE under Triple H and is just trying to tank AEW as a company. Between this and him being the one pushing for MJF to become a friggin' babyface, I'm convinced Jericho wants AEW to fail.
The match sure told me to never buy anything from AEW again, so thanks Tony! 👍

This was a massive middle finger to Punk and it was orchestrated by Jericho and the Elite. If anyone thinks this was anything more than that they are disillusioned. You know damn well they conned the Khan into thinking this was "best for business and would boost ratings." I love that this tanked the ratings along with another clip of Elite's "disappearance." It also helps the BloatGod and Colt nearly killed each other in a sloppy ass match. The only sad part is that Danielson and Claudio are still stuck in this pointless feud.
I'm really surprised Tony ok this even as spineless as he is. This really just makes Tony look bad because there are 100 memes going around saying this is 'proof' that Punk was the reason Colt wasn't on TV and that ultimately reflects back on Tony.

This match alone proved everything Cornette has ever said about AEW. The promotion is about using a billionaire to give out massive money to your friends. It's not about actually making a sustainable business. It really is like cosplay but with a billionaire's money. Maybe one day Tony will catch on to how badly he's being used by these people.

Brian Last was right. They did a quick backstage segment on Rampage to change it to all former champions from ROH & at that point I felt a disturbance in the force.

When I saw this I couldn't believe this match came to fruition. I truly think this is the end for me on trying to give Aew a chance. Like Jim Cornette said this is literally just a way to stick the finger at Cm Punk after all of this. There is LITERALLY NO BENEFIT in bringing Colt🍌🍌 back and look first match back he botches his move and almost hurt someone in the process. Honestly seeing how Aew the company and some of these top wrestlers handling on this situation for the last 2 months makes me sick and I don't wanna watch wrestling for awhile.

I used to love dynamite it was so fun to watch but that all changed and my god has it sank worse than the titanic. That whole company is an embarrassment in so many ways. Jericho is ruining that company and Tony is letting him. AEW is going to need a complete reboot to attempt to be good again

Jericho is now doing the EXACT same thing that Hogan in ‘96 was doing - Hogging the spotlight and making the company revolve around him.
I’m a fan of CM Punk and the way he always calls out what he perceives to be BS, this just tells me that we who want to watch some actual wrestling on our TV’s are no longer welcome. When Cabanas music hit I groaned and realised that after all the faith I put into AEW, I finally realised that this is what we are left with - the playground of Jericho.
Hogan in 1996 was the top heel and biggest draw in the business Jericho is neither of those things. This whole Hogan/Jericho comparison stuff needs to stop. Jericho was never on Hogans level as a star and never close to being as big of a draw.
Hogan in '96 was 43 years old with a few years left in the tank to draw crazy money. He was also probably the cleanest he'd ever been as far as PEDs go. Lean, cut, yet still big and intimidating enough for Hollywood Hogan to be credible as a heel.
Jericho is 51 and his days and drawing power were gone back in 2019.
@@robertm.3520 The comparison is not of their star power. The comparison is of the goal and MO. Hogan did everything he could to make WCW revolve around him, and Jericho is doing the same with AEW. I’m sure that in a couple of years someone in a shoot interview will reveal that Jericho had his own version of “that doesn’t work for me, brother”.

I’ve lost a lot of respect for Jericho as of late. 51 years old and he’s pushing himself to the moon, coming up with some of the worst matches and segments I’ve ever seen, has a group of midcard losers who worship him and he refuses to put anyone over. Having Colt come back to wrestle against Jericho was beyond petty & malicious . That was the biggest F you to Punk … that company is built off so much hate and negativity . Every week it’s always a cheap shot being thrown at WWE or anyone that the majority doesn’t agree with .
I feel Colt Cabana would've been used in a match against Jericho regardless of the drama because of Jericho's "destroy ROH" storyline. That being said, Tony Khan has chosen his side and AEW is probably doomed.

Even if Tony wins, it'll just be an extra inconvenience for him.
Also, everyone referencing the news reports regarding what happened in that locker room seems to be forgetting that most of what's been reported has come from Meltzer, who is very much in bed with the EVP's and Jericho, who have a long history of running to the dirt sheets.

if Punk sued AEW, Tony wouldn’t allow it to go on and settle out of court to keep the embarrassment to a minimum.
Im still amazed Jericho shoehorned his way into the Punk/AEW situation(or why he’d want to even be associated with that mess in the first place). It’s one thing if The Bucks or Omega pulled this but, a guy who had to forcibly attach his name to the incident by running his mouth after the fact is just kinda sad.
Remember that he said to CM Punk that he is a cancer after the scuffle, according to Jericho himself.
The moment I heard the name "Colt Cabana" announced I did 2 things:
1) Dropped AEW from the DVR (again).
2) Couldn't wait to hear Corny's rant about it.
I never followed ROH and have only mildly followed AEW since the Punk press scrum.
They had something worth watching a few months ago. Then they messed up Danielson, MJF, Wardlow, FTR, and Punk was sidelined. Now there's nothing worth giving them any of my time.
I have a hard time believing AEW is a serious company after this and I can no longer take it seriously. This is the exact kind of nonsense Punk was talking about, and now it's happening at an institutional level. But to my surprise, I'm actually not that shocked. In disbelief, perhaps, but not shocked.
