@@4FSGaming Yeah but in this video it's a bit underrated, because if someone gets shot by a rifle and is hiding to heal up you can stop the healing process with that poison bolt. This video has aged pretty well despite all the updates to the game last year. Poison bolts being a swappable ammo has pretty much escalated them from meme to something I bring ever time I use the Hand Crossbow. They are simply the single best way to kill immolators and armored, offer excellent area denial for windows and tight corridors, and, most importantly, give you an easy way to dispatch crows. All of that's not mention shooting downed enemies to ensure they can't get be revived without instantly dying again (assuming they didn't bring an antidote shot, of course). By themself, I would never bring poison bolts. As swappable ammo? The amount of tactical advantages it brings is huge.
Yeah seems weird that the poison crossbow is just trash, if it had an aoe or a lingering cloud than maybe it could useful. Also with it taking up a medium slot it's just unreasonable to be that bad. I'm just unsure how they can change it. I feel making it 1 shot to body is a bit op since range doesn't matter on the weapon besides headshots, so I feel making it have some lingering cloud or a mini hive effect is about all that it could be useful for. So make it a tool of area denial and able to flush players out by shooting mini hives into buildings?
Also if someone has an antidote shot it completely invalidates the weapon in a PvP situation. This is the only weapon that someone can be totally immune to. I mean as cool as it is to be able to use a poisonous bolt, poison is probably the least effective status condition in the game despite being the 2nd most annoying if you're affected. It's a sad weapon and needs some love.
What if. We give it a lingering aoe efect. And make it retriable by alloving us to get back the broken glass arrow (maybe give it a tip where we see the liquid dripping) and with weapon mode(x) we can swap betwen aoe or broken bolt. That way when you hit somebody we can add poison/bleed efect to the arrow and they need to remove the arrow to stop the poison efect. (I mean the poison cloud is stationary but who get shot are damage overtime until it removed)
@@csabawars I honestly don't have a issue with them being unretrievable, they just need to have more of an impact as it's strictly worse than the regular bolt does less damage can't 1 shot has a ingame consumable that means it actively does nothing. Hey noob question: how can I practice understanding distance? The difference between 40m and say 100m is obvious but I honestly don't fully understand 1m ingame. Thanks
Malek Hakim Go in training mode, find a target (something that won’t chase you), count out steps walking at full speed away from the target. The number of steps should roughly equate to meters.
It's not really about the exact distance. You need to know that the maps are 1 km x 1 km so divide it into 10 parts for 100 meter pieces. In the most compounds you have sightlines from 5 meters until 70 meters so a Vetterli with medium ammo deals still good damage at any range and is close to the mosin damage output. And it's nice to know that a mosin can instant headshot at 250 meters because my mate got killed some days ago from 208 meters away :D
There's no sure-fire way to know. but you can get an idea of distances when you're downed because it displays the distance from your body to your partner. Keep switching between your screen and your partner's screen to see what certain distances look like. I wish there was a 100m grid on the map or something to make it easier but there isn't, sadly :(
That's a silly question because most people won't be able to differentiate 30 or 50 meters in real life, when I was in the army and shot targets at 50 meters I was shocked at how close they were to me considering 50 is an intimidating number, like Josh said, death cams, the firing tool in the weapons shop is also a good indication.
The hand crossbow poison is actually extremely useful. best way to remove crows quietly, Also the Crossbow Shotbolt has penetration. shoot a wooden wall someone is hiding behind and the pellet will detonate and the shells will hit what is on the other side.
A point about compact crossbow melee: it deals more damage than pistol whipping, so I'd argue that "poor melee" is an exaggeration. It has more damage and higher speed than any small weapon, and is much more stamina efficient than a large weapon. Crucially, you can kill a grunt with two head punches (small weapons take 3, other mediums are less stamina efficient and slower), costing you less than half as much stamina as you'd've used with a long weapon. It's mostly a moot point since knives are mandatory, but if I have a compact crossbow on me, I whip it out over a rifle for killing immolators.
Note: It is possible to not one shot hunters with the Crossbow Shotbolt if the hit is too off-center/too on the edge of a hunter's hitbox.. This is because a hit that is very off-center may cause a significant amount of pellets to fly past the hunter, resulting in not enough landing and the hunter surviving.
I used the poison crossbow yesterday against the assasin and was like "huh that damage is quite neat". Then i stuck him with a sticky with did 80% of his health and was like yeah there is no reason for that crossbow to exist
The poison crossbow is okay. I use it with poison bombs an antidote if your trying to get the hive bomb fast. I use both on buthcer an assassin to get higher point to get the hive bomb.
i know i know old video, but you forgot to mention that you can wall bang with the shotgun crossbow, there are a lot of people which got surprised by that
At night, i was constantly getting hit by a player hiding very well, chopping off 1/3 hp each hit. I managed to find him and blast him off with a gun. If i hadn't found him, i would have either died or lost all my freaking med kits.
In my opinion the work you gotta put in together with a basically mandatory perk, both of these things only benefitting the crossbows, makes it less worth than a rifle that gives wider coverage and the time put into one can translate to other weapons better.
There's something i've always wanted to know about the shotbolt that you didn't address in the video. If i hit the bolt in the ground short of the enemy player, it's like firing with a shotgun at him, right? But is the shot aimed towards his feet or do they go up? Would this be in any way a valuable strategy?
With the shotbolt, a miss is a miss. It doesn't have an area of effect where it explodes; the shell only fires straight (with a cone spread, because shotgun) in the direction the bolt is facing.
Modern day crossbow poison is pretty decent not because of the poison itself but more the fact that you can have 2 ammo types other words I can have poison for area denial because of the new poison gas that comes out and then use the normal bolts for the obvious reason of damage and bleed
Great video! Thanks for the information. I still have trouble seeing why the shortbolt is better than the regular crossbow-- if regular crossbow can one shot but is also silent with bolt retrievability, and even sometimes on free hunters.
Poison Hand Crossbow silently one shots Grunts, Immolators, Armoreds, Horses, Crows, and Ducks. It will also cause all nearby meatheads to aggro the player you tag with it.
1. Remove the antidote shot (it's honestly OP, and in an uninteresting way, because it simply removes an entire mechanic from the game). 2. Give the poison crossbow a small poison & glass explosion, that deals about 40 to 70 damage and causes both poison and bleed. This would make it a powerful gun against people behind cover, because they are now damaged, bleeding, can't heal, and can't see well. This would make it much easier to rush them down.

Keep switching between your screen and your partner's screen to see what certain distances look like. I wish there was a 100m grid on the map or something to make it easier but there isn't, sadly :(
@@w.jebediah map is 1 km x 1 km
@@Tri-Technology I know that, it's still hard to figure out distances from that alone
That's a silly question because most people won't be able to differentiate 30 or 50 meters in real life, when I was in the army and shot targets at 50 meters I was shocked at how close they were to me considering 50 is an intimidating number, like Josh said, death cams, the firing tool in the weapons shop is also a good indication.
watching all these vids and LOVING them. Where do weapons like the Springfield lie in your reviews? Did not see in all 3 rifles reviews. Thanks!
Springfield and Martini Henry are recent additions to the game, which is why they did not appear in the Rifle video.
4FS Gaming awesome thanks!
Everything said in this video I 100% agreed with. As some one that loves using the crossbow a lot.
The hand crossbow poison is actually extremely useful. best way to remove crows quietly, Also the Crossbow Shotbolt has penetration. shoot a wooden wall someone is hiding behind and the pellet will detonate and the shells will hit what is on the other side.
The recent rework to the hand crossbow certainly elevates it, especially as you can now carry normal ammo as well.
Why would the poison bolt one shot immolators? I don't understand.
It's mostly a moot point since knives are mandatory, but if I have a compact crossbow on me, I whip it out over a rifle for killing immolators.
i wonder how this video would be updated for the current version?
Note: It is possible to not one shot hunters with the Crossbow Shotbolt if the hit is too off-center/too on the edge of a hunter's hitbox.. This is because a hit that is very off-center may cause a significant amount of pellets to fly past the hunter, resulting in not enough landing and the hunter surviving.
I always seem to do really well with the hand crossbow :)
It's severely underrated
I used the poison crossbow yesterday against the assasin and was like "huh that damage is quite neat". Then i stuck him with a sticky with did 80% of his health and was like yeah there is no reason for that crossbow to exist
The poison crossbow is okay. I use it with poison bombs an antidote if your trying to get the hive bomb fast. I use both on buthcer an assassin to get higher point to get the hive bomb.
is it possible to hit two players that are standing behind each other with a single shotbolt?
i know i know old video, but you forgot to mention that you can wall bang with the shotgun crossbow, there are a lot of people which got surprised by that
At night, i was constantly getting hit by a player hiding very well, chopping off 1/3 hp each hit.
I managed to find him and blast him off with a gun.
If i hadn't found him, i would have either died or lost all my freaking med kits.
Love the shotbolt. The sweet sweet wall bangs.
love the crosbow, but something i have never figured out and just missed in this vid. at what range is teh crossbow inaudible? did you say 14 or 40?
Around 40 meters, you can test it yourself in 3D view if you want to hear what it sounds like at different ranges.
Great video! I love playing with the crossbow and I'm glad I now know the specifics! P.s. youu forgot to mention you can wallbang with the shotbolt
Can you do an updated version I think they changed the crossbow right?
In my opinion the work you gotta put in together with a basically mandatory perk, both of these things only benefitting the crossbows, makes it less worth than a rifle that gives wider coverage and the time put into one can translate to other weapons better.
The poison crossbow should be a mini but have the same stats
There's something i've always wanted to know about the shotbolt that you didn't address in the video. If i hit the bolt in the ground short of the enemy player, it's like firing with a shotgun at him, right? But is the shot aimed towards his feet or do they go up? Would this be in any way a valuable strategy?
With the shotbolt, a miss is a miss. It doesn't have an area of effect where it explodes; the shell only fires straight (with a cone spread, because shotgun) in the direction the bolt is facing.
Modern day crossbow poison is pretty decent not because of the poison itself but more the fact that you can have 2 ammo types other words I can have poison for area denial because of the new poison gas that comes out and then use the normal bolts for the obvious reason of damage and bleed
do the damage numbers still apply?
Great video! Thanks for the information. I still have trouble seeing why the shortbolt is better than the regular crossbow-- if regular crossbow can one shot but is also silent with bolt retrievability, and even sometimes on free hunters.
shotbolt can wallbang and has no damage drop off so it can one shot kill at any distance.
Does the poison crossbow not do bonus poison damage to hunters? I was hopeful the antidote nerf would make it a real weapon
That's absolutely hilarious, didn't realize how useless the poison one was
I rarely play Hunt anymore but your videos are amazing
Alternatively, in stead of removing the antidote shot, make it a more expensive healing shot that works while poisoned, and also removes the poison.
uhhh, what about BOMB LANCE? It has some sort of crossbow contraption attached to that GIANT CLEAVER ON A STICK.
Yo congrats on getting affiliated!
Love these videos. very good work. keep em coming.
Thanks, will do!
People hate on the poison handcrossbow but that thing is a god of PvE
silently one-shots immolators and does good dmg to butcher/assassin
My cousin and I use poison crossbow with combat ax, it is hilarious!
Now we can change bolts
I’m on Xbox and Im just getting my butt kicked. Have a terrible time aiming and i tend to jerk my aim in cqb. Any tips for who’s a novice and broke (rank 75 no prestige)
Hook up a keyboard and mouse? Im on pc and dont use controller so no idea how the console game handles.
@@schleybailey first off its a fps so worse mouse is just the best way to play shooters, its faster and more accurate once you get accustomed to it. Now to your point at getting better, when you are poor don't worry about running cheap builds. Bring a medkit a vert or sparks then a nagant officer, or caldwell. The jerking thing is just a tick from being nervous or startled, honestly the more you play the easier it gets. You will get better with the weapons the more time you devote to them. Also being on consule I would greatly recommend practicing swapping to knife and stabbing to the head. The control set up of consule makes fighting at extreme close quarters even harder than on PC and you would be surprised how effective a good old knife to the face can be. Lastly surprise is your best friend, and worst enemy, make sure to always be on the move and hard to track if you trigger birds move quickly away. If some else trigger birds don't sprint to that location use it as a way to track where your enemies are and where they might be going. The better you are a locating people the better your chance for kills and survival.
Favorite budget build is romero pax. Reliable and gets wins. Also quickplay hunters.
@@schleybailey same. Good short range power and the pax gives good medium range capability.
Mouse and Keyboard if you can afford it.
Carry a melee weapon
Avoid CQB like the plague

Start tweaking the controls.
Decent way to make money is just using white shirts, getting clues and extracting.
Grab any and ALL free hunters, even if you have no intent of using them if they have even one item you use or want to use.
You literally can't lose money as a whiteshirt.
Also learn to ambush players in or around boss compounds, and always aim to drop a player in the opening moment of an ambush to better the odds.
If dealing with someone who is hiding while their teammate is downed, burn the body to put them on a timer and get a good line of sight on it.
congrats on making it as an affiliate!
the hand crossbow poison can be really effective in group play and especially during nighttime... i've killed miltiple squads solo with hand crossbow poison... no, it can't oneshot to the chest... but using it to take the sneaky shot to just poison people can make people panic...
Or, they could already be dead if you had been using the regular hand crossbow.
@@MechMK1 you usually only shoot it at people who have been hit by something Else... Or if there is a meathead very close...
Anyone here from Australia that plays on ps4? It’s so hard to get anyone in Oceania lobbies. I end up playing on us west but the lag makes it almost unplayable. I love this game but it’s so frustrating! We need more aus players
beno34 add me bro, xXOZxBANDITXx
weird quirk a friend found is that the poison crossbow can silently kill birds
Is this still true!?
Where is the link?
You forgot to mention that the shotbolt is the only crossbow variant than can penetrate wood.
This is true, some of the clips at the end show some great shots up through the floor.
You didn't mention at all that poison crossbow kills birds and ducks as well.
Poison hand crossbow is actually really good at killing bosses quickly and silently and can 3 shot meatheads
is this video about meming with crossbow?
hand cross bow poison isnt for killing things, its for fire guys and birds
11:41 bruh even leg shots kills from what I see using this thing
I have to say, even ignoring the new update you underestimated the poison handbow. It’s still trash at PVP, but its effects allow to nearly silently bulldoze through immolators and armored while tearing the butcher and the assassin apart just as quietly. Did i forget that it lets you silence crows and ducks WAY better than a lantern?
What about the bow?
also you did show gameplay, but i think the fact that the shotbolt can penatrate surfaces as if a shotgun was shot pointblack into the wall deservs some more attention. this is a wall bang machine. and i have 1 and 2 taped people in a sniper tower by just lobing bolts at the walls THERE IS NO WHERE TO RUN! MWHANAHAHAH and shooting htoguh scelings. nothing is as scary as that, often the shotgun loses alot of bower in the few m between the sealing or spreads to far, but the shotbolt. oh no its like the step on a mine. god what a satisfying feeling
Poison crossbow is a good tool for assassin and butcher as well as dealing with AI dogs, and fire boys. I'll take the poison over hand crossbow any match.
It is useful against immolators, but the basic knife is better for dogs, and world melee items like the axe are far, far better against bosses.
I love to play with *2* Poison Crossbows.
was waiting for this 😊😍
Hope you enjoyed it!
How the fuck does the shotbolt have penetration but the normal version doesn't.
The shotbolt has the impact of a normal crossbow, then the arrow fires a shotgun shell. That shotgun Burst penetrates the surface the arrow impacted.
Poison crossbow is actually VERY useful, instant kills fire and armor mobs and works well killin the sas or butcher
Seems like a meager benefit for a medium slot weapon, dusters are just as good against the immolator and an axe is far better for butcher/assassin
lol didnt even know there was a poison crossbow
Thx man, i learned a lot from your video's 👍👍👍😁
It's a shame that you can't just equip different ammo types for crossbows
I hate the shotbolt. That's not how bullets work. Without a barrel to accelerate the projectiles down a bullet is of no serious harm. They shouldn't even be able to pierce the skin.
I don't mind losing some realism for interesting weapons like he shotbolt or bomblance.
There is actually a crossbow on the market that can shoot shotgun pellets and is lethal
@@heibk-2019 you mean the zubin x340?
I think it would still do something considering its powered by gunpowder and something like a 38. Snubnose barely even has a barrel and it shoots just fine lol
@@jacobcaswell7518 a snubnose still has a barrel. A shot shell on its own will just explode in every direction.
A free hunter with a crossbow is a insta-win, trust me :D
