That's basically due to EA though isn't it? I remember when hearing "EA Games: challenge everything" or "EA Sports: to the game" were signs that you were about to play a great game, but anything with an EA logo on it now just fills me with trepidation.

I really am sad for Alien: Colonial Marines. Apparently somebody recently discovered a piece of code written in error and when fixed, all of the ai significantly improved. The other marines behaved a lot more intelligently, didn’t do stupid shit if they were doing more than nothing at all, made smart choices and added value as a member of the team. The aliens also become much more formidable, they hunted you down better, they were more aggressive, they were good at finding spots to ambush players and pick off marines. All over a few botched lines of code.
The whole game was broke. Remember the E3 demo compared to the game? AI wasn’t the same, graphics, the aliens themselves, hell that mission wasn’t even in the game

i had a pretty good time with mass effect andromeda mostly because the combat was actually awesome and the characters had a lot of potential if, you know, they had like 2 more games to flesh them out, but that was the thing. the original mass effect series had 3 games worth of content and decisions that could impact the story and andromeda, since it was basically scrapping the original series, was always going to have none of that, so they needed to pack as much of the things that people liked about the trilogy into one game as possible, and they didn't do that. and now with the new mass effect game it looks like we're going back to the original setting, so.... here we go again.

Watch Dogs is something like my fourth favourite game of all time (so far). It didn't look as good as promised, but it still looked great. I loved the hacking and stealth mechanics, and the Chicago setting was so well-designed and full of realistic details!
Watch dogs 2 was way more floaty, and tried WAY to hard to just be GTA + gadgets. First one had an actual story too. One where you really cared (even a little) about any of the characters. I would argue that it died way before the microtransaction. I have the original disk and since the beginning it wasn't a good play. Well.. my first playthrough in AC Unity was "okay"... I was after the bugs were patched, and was feeling it as overall a "mediocre" game, meaning really at the middle, not actually good, not actually bad. Story was meh, Gameplay was meh, etc. So it being an AC game and I being a huge fan at the time, I enjoyed it. Then I played Syndicate, and came back for Unity's DLC, but then it was that struck me how bad Unity was. After playing a minimally better AC, I couldn't go back to Unity, no way. And after Origins, I started to think both Unity and Sindicate were complete trash. Didn't finished any of those DLCs, and I usually do all AC dlcs... To top it of, the first assassin's, the ezio trilogy, the chronicles trilogy, the Kenway trilogy (AC3, Black Flag, and Rogue), and their DLCs, all are still very much playable today, having all aged much better than Unity and Syndicate. Even AC3, which I detest, storywise.

I remember being in high school when Bioware came out with Knights of the Old Republic & Jade Empire and everyone raved about those games. After high school they had Mass Effect, Dragon Age: Origins, and Mass Effect 2 which were all solid as well.
Bioware in the last 10 years has become a shell of it's former self. Dragon Age: Inquisition is the only game by Bioware I have played since Mass Effect 2.
Bioware is like the 2010's equivalent to 2000s era Rare.
Baldurs Gate 2 gets Bioware a forever pass in my eyes 👀
That's basically due to EA though isn't it? I remember when hearing "EA Games: challenge everything" or "EA Sports: to the game" were signs that you were about to play a great game, but anything with an EA logo on it now just fills me with trepidation.
@@David-ud9ju EA is the reason these developers fail to deliver quality products without months, if not years, of patchwork. We buy the garbage and complain it's garbage knowing full well it was going to be garbage
I agree with the sentiment, although I think BioWare has remained a decent company despite DA II, ME 3, and ME Andromeda having issues, especially having to follow such great games. (I have no interest in Anthem). I think their parent company EA is the most problematic factor. I have hope that BioWare will be able to go uphill again, and with caution I highly anticipate DA Dreadwolf and ME 4.
Damn
That would fix the game - if the ai had been the only problem.

I specifically remember only having a basic weapon,or 2. While,they ran around w/ all the "good stuff"(like Explosives/Rocket Launchers/grenades,etc...). I usually got killed,before I could find ANYTHING other than a grenade(if I even got /that/ lucky)...

i had a pretty good time with mass effect andromeda mostly because the combat was actually awesome and the characters had a lot of potential if, you know, they had like 2 more games to flesh them out, but that was the thing. the original mass effect series had 3 games worth of content and decisions that could impact the story and andromeda, since it was basically scrapping the original series, was always going to have none of that, so they needed to pack as much of the things that people liked about the trilogy into one game as possible, and they didn't do that. and now with the new mass effect game it looks like we're going back to the original setting, so.... here we go again.

It's because passion doesn't make you money anymore, only corruption and greed. Capitalism for ya!
I'm still pissed they messed up Evolve.
Why the heck were they way to greedy? It died because of the microtransactions.
Could've easily survived if they did F2P right.
I would argue that it died way before the microtransaction. I have the original disk and since the beginning it wasn't a good play. Being the monster felt impossible, you'd think being this big bad enemy would be fun and interesting. But I was always found way too fast and then overwhelmed by the 4 v 1 aspect. It just wasn't fun.
@@Zathren They release Behemoth OP af and for 15 bucks, I think that was a major issue.
Also there were a shitload of cosmetics for way too much money when the game really had much bigger issues.
I loved playing that Thunder Mine Assault and the Railgun guy
@@Zathren Interesting. At release it was impossible to lose as ANY monster. Only later, when the players knew what they are doing you had to work hard for a victory. But that was not really the problem of the game. A good monster player could ruin the fun for hunters. It was so boring to run around and get nothing and die against a lvl 3 monster after 20 min. Still, i played it for almost 300h.
They fixed alot of problems in the f2p version but it was already to late.
I tried Evolve when it was F2P, and had fun playing monster, but playing as hunter was so boring... just running around the map for 15 min with little bit of shooting here and there, and I think this is a problem for most asymmetrical games, where no one wants to play hunters / survivors, when playing as monster / killer is much more fun.
@@Rol4nnd Well I and my buddies Always prefered playing the hunters.
The issue isn't preferences, it's the poor execution, balancing and the greedyness
Andromeda, Battlefront II, Unity, and Watchdogs are pretty fun in my opinion. While I completely agree that they didn't live up to their hype, I'd recommend them much more than the other games on this list. They are not in the same category as games like Colonial Marines, Anthem, and Fallout 76.

The Story is so replacable and Full of clishees
Well, i liked the ac unity too, it was amazing, but it's just typical ubisot job to trick us by showing ps8 footage of the game and giving us ps2 after it releases, even ac black flag was a letdowns after the first gameplay trailer, but ac black flag was still a masterpiece, ubisoft is bullshit they always do that in E3
@@slemangerdy8407 the problem is, that they fucked up, after the AC3. Boy, if you like black flag, the main games blow away your mind! There was so much love inside.
Probably because most people experienced the game before all the updates.
@@David-kx2ki All games are full of Cliches, impossible to get around that. Anthem was fun to me, it's just they looked like they were going for Destiny, Warframe or Borderlands killer. Honestly they did a lot wrong, but they seem to handle gunplay and powers better than any of those games. I've played them all but because Anthem was straight forward about it process of getting items. I just like it better than Destiny or Warframe. And Warframe is hella convaluted in get frames, weapons and mods. Yet I somewhat disappointed about Anthem's handling. Maybe they should scuttle Bio Ware and sell off the IP, just cause BIo Ware is Bio Ware in name only.
Classic gameranx: "Games that flopped, oh but this one sold well still..."
To be fair games can sell well simply becuase of pre orders or people want to see how bad it is themselves like 06
@@Zev0 But if it sells well (and isn't refunded afterwards), it's not a flop.
That is classic GR, but the title says “Overhyped Games”. When a product has hype behind it it means that it has the potential to sell well. Also, flopped could have meant as in fan reaction; not sells-wise.
@@blame7121 yeah I wouldn't call sales an indication of success. Maybe for the company, but I think it's more about how much it's enjoyed. If a game looks good but isn't, no matter how many people buy it, you can't really say it's good still. Besides, even if a game sells somewhat well, it doesn't necessarily mean that the team made a profit on it. Actually Assassins Creed Unity is a pretty good game, it has the best parkour of the saga and the graphics were great, it got overshadowed by the games reviewers over exaggerating the amount of bugs it had, in my whole experience playing the game, including the DLC i didnt experience a single bug, a lot of people can confirm that, and the multiplayer was kinda good, yeah sometimes the parkour can be unrealistic at some points, but overall its a pretty good game that got dragged on dirt by a couple of bugs people exaggerated a lot.

well said, if you expect nothing you will never be disapointed.
@Émeric Côté what of it?
What's to get hyped about in a world of micro-transactions, pay to win, loot boxes, live services, and developers releasing games unfinished, and gutted of content to be sold separately as DLC? Nintendo and the indie scene are the only ones doing it right, but a damn shame they don't have the budget the AAA teams get to piss away with on their generic crap.
Nothing wrong with getting hyped. It's a very special feeling when you sit down, grab the good snacks and load up a game you have been looking forward to!
Getting hyped only to get burned is part of the process, but usually there are warning signs along that route.

Assassins Creed Unity was horrible at launch true. But I still enjoyed the game. I played through it 3 times including getting the platinum trophy on PS4. It had some clear issues but I could look past some of the weird shit that went down to enjoy the experience as a whole. It certainly captured the feel and the story was pretty good although I feel a bit rushed.
Thing is when the devs take the time and care to actually fix things like no man sky i actually respect that so much.
the thing about ac was it was the first with that type of multiplayer and it was the first on ps4 n xbox one so i expected it to have issues cause alot of games have issues with new tech but i nvr experianced ac unity glitched plus syndicate fixed unity issues
yh tbh unity is a solid assassins creed for me I never really experienced any of the bugs on xbox at least
Well.. my first playthrough in AC Unity was "okay"...
