The only man who could release a song that was not only a hit , buy wasn't even heard of. Tom Petty - The Heartbreakers were a very fine wine- before they became famous. Won't ever happen again.
I just want to thank you for all of your postings. I'm 75 - never knew about Tom Petty (I was a hippie) until a couple of years ago. I have been playing your channel practically every day since then. You've brought a lot of joy to an old lady. Thanks again.
This song always gets me 😍 because I'm from Indiana I'm a Indiana girl and I love blaring this song in my car while driving in the country with the cornfields 🥰 Love Tom Petty ❤️🥰
This is my favorite song by TP & HB…. Actually gives me chills. One of the biggest losses in rock n roll ever!! You are in the other side of life now but your music is still on this side and always will be and I thank you for that!!🎤🎼🎶❤
I saw his last tour in 2013, at The Hang Out Festival, here on the Gulf Coast. My son and I went nuts when he played this song ! Some young chic said, "Get outta the way, Grandma". She got a very swift elbow to the chest, which knocked her to the ground. Grandma doesn't play around when Tom is on stage ! ( Dwayne, I hope you haven't met Tommy yet. I feel for you, brother. Have no idea why it didn't come for me too )
He's in heaven with George Harrison and Roy Orbison Tom Petty your music defined our generation, is ageless and timeless. Oh how sad we are you have left us too soon.
I'm also 70 and I've been listening to him forever. He was the very first concert my oldest son went to and has said it was his favorite. I bought him the tickets in 2002 for Christmas 🎄
Losing Tom Petty was like losing a large part of my younger life. When I still had so much energy you couldn't keep me down. Just like Tom Petty. Every time I hear his music I feel my young spirit and don't want it to leave. Just knowing "never again" makes my own mortality real. Shy but what a suttle sense of humor he had. He was in the best part of my life and though I still get teary eyed sometimes, I watch his videos and smile and I am back there again. I know it wasnt always easy for his life to make great memories for us. So Thanks Tom for all you sacrificed, sharing your songs, your words we'll never stop singing . Don't know what its like to be you Tom. But, getting to the point. What a damn nice ride it was to be a fan.
I've seen "TP" as diehard fans call him at least 12 times.....that's pretty good for a cornfed boy....still call him that after forty-odd years.....snuck into one show lol
I never realized how amazing he is live. The more I listen to him the more I like him. When I first heard him years ago- I wasn't really that into it- but now it seems I'm almost glued to his videos on youtube.
think maybe because he come out in later 1970s after the main core of the classic rockers he kinda blened in didnt really stand out at the time just my toughts

I saw the first concert at Irvine Amphitheater which was Tom Petty . 3 hours of straight ass kicking music. Afterwards the six of us couldn’t find our cars. Dude where our cars. I think late 70’s . Great times . RIP Tom sure do miss you .
Tom Petty is, was, and always will be amazing. I’ve seen him several times live and he always blew us all away, to quote this song. The guy can never be replaced. One of the great ones, not just his music but concerts too. He was having fun as we all should. Miss the guy.
Saw Tom Petty in Europe BEFORE he hit the big time...I knew when I heard him I was listening to an undiscovered legend. Rock on brother & Thank YOU for sharing MR.PETTY
I can't come to terms with losing TP. such a gentle soul. Has hit me harder than losing David Bowie last year. RIP Tom. we will love and miss you forever

I remember the day I heard "Refugee" listening to the radio in my mom's car when I was 14 or 15, I was hooked. I bought all Tom's albums, saw him live, looked forward to getting the next release and going to see him again. Although I never met Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers , I really do feel like I grew up with them, and I can't really convey the sense of loss I feel from him being gone, even now 6 years later. Losing Tom was like losing a brother, God rest your soul Tommy, the world is a better place because of you and your legacy will live on forever through your music.

I watched #theGrammys2017 tonight. Worthless time spent. The music of today is missing the spark of yesterday's music. Tom Petty you are a music genius. You captivate your crowd. When I listen to your music, I am Free Fallin' and spirits are good. Thank you for making great music!
real RNR died after the 80's. not one of these so called music acts that claim to have RNR don't have jack shit because 1st of all you have to have talent for the trade which they clearly don't. RNR went straight to hell. not one of these new so called rockers has what it takes to make real music because 1st of all you have to have talent to write and produce your own music and today's losers don't have a lick of talent.
Tom Petty's Music will Never Stop Being Listened To By Me & Many Others Until WE Die. My Future Americans Are Able To Continue To EnJOY. Long LIVE Rock n' Roll. :-)
I saw him a cpl of months before he passed. I saw him one other time early on. I feel like I grew with his music. Very sad that he passed not that old.
As FLAWLESS a live rendition as you could ever wish to see/hear -- One of THE all time great pieces of music with a stunning must watch video to boot !!
Who isn't tired of screwing up? Very sad to hear about his death. He was the # 1 song to play in the jukebox...grew up with his music. His music lives on forever RIP Tom Petty!
I saw Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers six times. The first time was in San Francisco in 1978, and the last time was on his final tour in 2017 in Austin. On the later tours, I had one or more of my kids with me, and they seemed to understand why I went to see him so many times. He was the best performer I have ever seen and I have seen many great musicians and bands. He was always relaxed, natural, humble, and just so damned good at songwriting and performing. The day he died hit me hard, and my old college buddies and I texted about it for days. The Rolling Stones have always been my favorite band, but he is a close second, and his shows were better than anyone else's, bar none. He just gave himself to the crowd when he played. RIP Tom.
I remember driving to Orlando on Interstate 4 when I heard the terrible news on my Sirius XM station. I had to pull over to the shoulder as I was so stunned and upset! Tom was one of my all time favorites as we grew up not that far from one another. I saw Tom and his band at least a dozen times over the years.
@@boatguy64 Sadly we just lost the last original member of Molly Hatchett as guitarist Steve Holland dies 3 weeks ago. Steve was the youngest members of the originals as he carried on later with his group Gator Country. I grew up in the Pensacola Beach area and Molly Hatchett used to play at a great huge bar called the Barrell's in Pensacola. I know Danny Joe Brown's widow. I spent a few years on Jacksonville Beach and would hangout at the Free Bird Café on the beach and spoke with Judy Van Zant the owners quite a few times as she would drop in every now and then.
@@scottdixon469 I was fortunate enough to meet Artimus at a local bar in st Aug. About 25 years ago. Was playing w his own band. Spent several hours drinking beers and talking shit w him. He opened up to me about what happened that night in the woods. And in a farmers field. Great man. With a HUGE heart. Idk if he remembers me, a long harried boat builder. But i will NEVER forget talking to him. What a privilege
THE FIRST TIME I EVER SAW TP WAS IN 83 IN W.P.B., FL. IN A SMALL VENUE CALLED THE AUDITORIUM , IT CHANGED MY LIFE FOREVER, I HAVE SEEN HIM OVER 20 TIMES AND LEARNED ALMOST EVERY SONG HE EVER WROTE, MY HEART WEEPS EVERYDAY, R.I.P., I LOVE YOU FOREVER.
Gainesville Florida..........what a time period watching him play in a band called, 'Mudcrutch' and then becoming famous. What a ride!..........They were humble and major talented.......RIP Tom`
Wow, what a performance. Tom is blessed with so much talent yet he presents himself and the band in such an understated way. No bullshit or pretense. Kick ass rock n roll with an incredible groove, what a gift.
Sensational..the legend that will never pass away ..what an entertainer and played his guitar to the fullest..terrific band..great rhythem and lyrics..grew up listening to Tom Petty..the Best
The world will miss you Tom Petty, rock GOD and musical genius .Thank You for giving your life for the beautiful songs you gave us.You will live forever in our hearts.
I just "discovered" Tom Petty after he had passed. I'm 63. Yes, I had heard of him, but my own taste in music was directed in other areas. I really started listening to him and this great band just in the past few months when I decided to get serious about playing the guitar...so sorry I waited so long and will not have the chance to hear him live. So many great songs I'm really hearing for the first time. RIP
I didn't seem to think much about Tom, and when I heard he was going on tour in the PNW, a I looked into it and barely scored a couple of tickets, and took my wife to her first ever Rock and Roll concert. We saw Arlo in Corvallis about ten years earlier, but, you know, the cops, no wait, that was a line out of his Motorcycle song. The arlo thing was a sea of rainbow shirts and gray hair. It was awesome. But Tom, and Steve Winwood before him was so very cool. But when I got home sometime later, I looked through my Vinyl collection, and I had about half of the albums he produced before 1990. Including the first one. Wow.I better plug in that USB turntable.
I got a chance to play at dive bar in Venice Beach California with Tom. One of his favorite hangs. We played for about 3 hours. Played some his favorite punk songs! Clash The Damned The Jam Bad Brains! Motorhead! Some of his stuff some blues Southern rock a Tom Jones tune and outlaw country. Time of my life I cried. Great man bought dinner and drinks. Flirted with my gal. Would have let her go🤣 will never forget
Tom Petty is an exceptional musician who wrote songs from the depth his inner being knowing silence was an exceptional ability to integrate within the notes of delievering a poet s truth of shimmering light of absolute echoes of notes penetrating within his soul.
TP may be gone, but his music will never be forgotten !!!

He was from another place. He went home. Thanks Tom
Here it is May of 2020 and still feelin the pain of his passing, there will never be another TP and the HBs.
I feel it too. I grew up in Gainesville. Was great to have had him.
Ha! I've been tired of screwing up, and feeling Summer kreeping in, and being tired of this town again. He was a very good song writer.
Tamra Gibson say no to drugs
RIP Tom.
RIP Tommy, you did this world well. Thanks for the Music!
Tom petty was the shit and still is Merle is really the was really the best of alllll!!!
Tammy Braddy shut up, how dare you?
So ya still out there son???
I was upset when I woken and heard he died, I threw my phone into the TV and ruined them both, the end result was "it was worth it"
And thanks for the memories...
Have all his music on cd listen to him every day!!saw him live in Pittsburgh 4 times from 80s thru 2000s RIP brother
I'm from here in Cocoa. He's another of the fl boys gone too soon. Danny Joe Brown, Ronnie and the boy's.. Jim Morrison. The list is FAR too long
@@boatguy64 Sadly we just lost the last original member of Molly Hatchett as guitarist Steve Holland dies 3 weeks ago.
Absolutely one of the very best….miss him so much.
These people made me to be what l am today. With 65 not too old but ready for everything!! Ride on! Life starts now!!
Bye Tom. Thanks for the awesome contributions to the soundtrack to my adolescence. You were always a favorite.
My first TP show was 1984 in Austin Texas and my last was 2009. I can say I never saw a bad Petty show. RIP!
Gainesville Florida..........what a time period watching him play in a band called, 'Mudcrutch' and then becoming famous. What a ride!..........They were humble and major talented.......RIP Tom`
Was fortunate enough to see a tour of his in seventy eight, he called it his bankruptcy tour it was awesome 👌
Wow, what a performance. Tom is blessed with so much talent yet he presents himself and the band in such an understated way. No bullshit or pretense. Kick ass rock n roll with an incredible groove, what a gift.
That was so well said. My sentiment exactly
RIP Tom Petty, gone but never forgotten
We'll always and forever ❤️ you Tom❤️ RIP. ❤️ What gifts you gave us! Thank you for your music 🎶💕
I keep coming back to this performance... an absolutely world-class rock & roll band at the very peak of its powers.
Sensational..the legend that will never pass away ..what an entertainer and played his guitar to the fullest..terrific band..great rhythem and lyrics..grew up listening to Tom Petty..the Best
RIP and Thank you so much for the music you brought to US.
One of the greatest musicians of our time. It is truth
I love this song
People like these rockers make me love the human race again❤
Highly enjoyed everything about this band!! Hope to see you again❣️Wish you all the best!!
One of the greatest artists of all times
I got a chance to play at dive bar in Venice Beach California with Tom. One of his favorite hangs. We played for about 3 hours. Played some his favorite punk songs! Clash The Damned The Jam Bad Brains! Motorhead! Some of his stuff some blues Southern rock a Tom Jones tune and outlaw country. Time of my life I cried. Great man bought dinner and drinks. Flirted with my gal. Would have let her go🤣 will never forget
Tom Petty, U were the BEST!
Wherever you are now I hope you’re doing well.
Tom Petty is an exceptional musician who wrote songs from the depth his inner being knowing silence was an exceptional ability to integrate within the notes of delievering a poet s truth of shimmering light of absolute echoes of notes penetrating within his soul.
