  • Much loved Yamaha R1 was stolen 11:00 in South East London and recovered at 14.30 - 3 May 2018
    We received a motion alert from a customer’s R1 motorcycle at 11am. The customer confirmed his bike had been stolen, with the cut off chain all that remained of his much loved machine.
    We tracked the bike cell locations for a few miles whilst the customer tried to report the crime. We decided to deploy a radio finder as no GPS signals were coming through, we thought it was possibly in the back of a van.
    After 20 minutes of being stationary we eventually received a valid GPS fix. This helped the deployed finder to easily home in on the secret radio tracking signals to find the bike parked up against a wall in the corner of a car park in the London Bermondsey SE16 area.
    The customer soon attended the recovery location but the bike had a damaged ignition lock, also the disc had been cut to remove the disc lock.
    Automatrics reported back to the police that the bike had been found and paid for DMR motorcycle recovery to take it to the customers preferred Yamaha mechanic. Met Police didn't need to attend the site.
    We think the customers wife will definitely be happy to see the bike safely recovered after buying the R1 dream sports bike for her husband seven years ago when they got married.

    Well done on the recovery there. Thinking about getting your asset trackers on my motorbike and boat. Been considering it and watching your videos a few months now, seems to me your product/service is the best!
    Felt I ought to say this. Thirty years as a motorbike mechanic, no way on earth I would ride anything more than 4mph both-feet-down with a cracked brake disk, especially a floating one, and even then only if I had absolutely no choice. I'm not saying this for concern about not being able to stop, it's about the front wheel locking up solid any moment, would cause a lot more damage than the bike's already got even at 4mph, could lead to a massive wreck at ordinary traffic speeds. Good to hear the owner got the bike moved in a van, but I suggest be a bit cautious about even suggesting riding a bike away if the brakes are damaged.

    • @chadhogan5916
      @chadhogan5916 6 років тому +4

      I second your opinion dave as a motorcycle mechanic with only a few years experience but in that situation lets say without any other option but to ride, I'd just remove the disc and pads and take it easy with just the back brake.. I've seen alot of sketchy and questionable callipers and discs but you're right would I F**k ride with a chunk out of a disc never mind one with bad runout or warpage..

I installed a tracker and if someone steals it, I’m calling my hoodlum friends with some “hardware” to recover the bike and if we catch a thief, he won’t be stealing again cause all of his limbs will be broken. Great work! From several videos I have seen I venture to say thieves have picked up the practice of dropping the stolen vehicle in an area and then surveil it to see if there are trackers they could not detect on it. People on the van here could be on legitimate business or the thieves and they saw you. Too bad Police shows so little interest.

  • @samgab

    That's a great service, that you actually go out and recover the stolen vehicle as well as track it. I don't think we have a service like that in my country. You can get GPS trackers installed with website login to track, but you have to do the tracking and recovery yourself.

    • @AutomatricsMtrack
      @AutomatricsMtrack  6 років тому

      Thanks . The finding service does make our service different to others. We do also need reliable technology that means we can still locate stolen assets that have been hidden indoors or when GPS signals are blocked or jammed. There is not much location technology out there that can do that………. and if there was it would be best served by a professional finding agent to help locate it.

      They left the bike in that spot on purpose to see if it had a tracker or if anyone came to recover it.They would have waited a while and if there was no activity, they'd have taken it away. If it disappeared, then they didn't get caught with it. They often just move these stolen items to let them "cool off", before actually taking them away.

Yamaha makes nice bikes. I'll bet the thieves where unhappy to lose it to the owner! Another great job. A note on the side. My son is now going to a university to study political and economic science and we had a great talk about how theft and vandalism are injurious to the national economy of a small nation like Belgium. That's fantastic! Should've written down the license plate of that dodgy van though, so police could check it out to see if it was involved in the theft. They got cameras everywhere nowadays and if it were anywhere near the location of the theft, I'm sure they could track it down and pick up the perps or at least the van's owner. It's quite possible that they just unloaded the bike before you got there and were still hanging around waiting for somebody to pick it up. Still, great job on getting it back!

In addition to this I use a sturdy lock that locks onto the rear sprocket. 11 years in London parking in hotspots with expensive bikes ranging from KTM to Ducati, BMW and Suzuki. If it looks hard then the thieves will move on to a softer target 🎯

      Also, number of police officers in uk are about 20k less compared 10 years ago, and have to deal with baby-sitting, no swear to citizens, mental issues, protect the queen & all royal family , protect company interests and football matches. Also with fights produced by alcoholics.
      So unfortunately, motorbikes aren’t priority.
      Pd : thieves use gloves, so isn’t point to call forensics for this , when they’ll take a week to take prints, and the one who pay consequences are the bike owner and taxpayer .
      It’s sounds like a joke, yes , uk is it a joke

      We always hear that crime in the UK and Australia is low. Maybe no one reports these crimes there.

    It's really too bad the police aren't more responsive over there. I haven't had a lot of occasions to call my local police, but the times I did, they responded immediately.

    It’s amazing how middle class these thieves are. You’d expect bike thieves to be living in flop houses.
