I’m watching this 4 years after you first posted it. I’ve knit many socks but I still find your videos very informative. I love your soothing voice and you keep me company as I knit other projects besides socks. I’ve learned so much from you. I’m very thankful for your generosity in sharing your knowledge. Thank you.
Let them drink that hateraid. This would be a $100-$150 in person class. Your videos are amazing, full of fun tidbits for us yarn and knitting nerds! Keep on rocking as you are.
I am so sorry that you experienced that negative comment especially on a “free” class that you are providing. And I love the jabber-makes it feel more like an in person class. Thank you again for giving your time!
I chuckled at the "sticks + string = clothing = mind blown" comment. Everything I've created so far (all 2 scarves, 1 hat) I just keep staring at thinking "That's a real thing in the real world that wouldn't exist if I hadn't jiggled some sticks and string for a few hours!" So glad it's not just me 😊
Thanks so much for the amazing content. I'm really enjoying working my first sock ever, thanks to this fantastic series ❤
Dear impatient people,
Please don't leave crappy comments about presenting style being too fast/slow, for you.
UA-cam provides us all with speed control in video settings.
Speed up, slow down, skip anywhere in the timeline, restart, play as many times as you like for free...
Don't spread hate. Navigate.
What an AWESOME comment/message!! Thank you SO MUCH Paul!!! This means the world to me!!!!
You are an extremely lovely person, even without this so very generous course you are teaching. Having a friend like you would be a blessing!
Please don't change anything about your format. I love it. ❤️
Oh, dear lady... I've learned more from this FREE course in however many minutes it's been (classes 1 and 2) than I have in over 2 years without it. Your "jibber jabber" is solid gold. In fact, watching these videos helps me feel more like I have a sweet friend teaching me something than how distant it can feel to learn from UA-cam. You're doing great!
Thanks so much Christina!!!
Absolutely agree this class has given me so much confidence to try and it’s lovely so very lovely - just an awesome adventure thank you so very much I am very grateful
Don't change a thing about your class. They can fast forward if they have a problem. I enjoy the speed of your class, I am sure I am not the only one.
was going to say the same thing - sometimes you want to skip fwd to the meaty bits and then go back later for the chat - we all know when we get excited about something we want to jump in without delay but honestly complaining about someone's style? If you aren't happy then try and do it yourself and how hard it is. Build a bridge and get over it.
Voilà do not change Denise. Tu es un soleil.🥰👍
I am also watching this four years after your posting! And even though I’ve been knitting socks for over 15 years I’m learning new things from you every time I watch you! I love your enthusiasm and joy!
Denise, you do not jibber jabber, you are a wonderful teacher and I appreciate your clear instruction. Thank you from a beginner knitter!!
Hi Bex,
Thank you so very much for your comment. And your support! You have no idea how much that means to me!!!
how rude, that person needs to go to other places, I like that your talk a lot sometimes I learn more that way., thank you Denise for the free classes. you are great
You do you, you are sharing all of your knowledge in a very organized and informational way and I appreciate it! Jabber on! Love you!
Please disregard any “nay-sayers” and continue on as you are teaching us in a sequential manner. I LOVE your class and am having success! Yeah! You are a gifted teacher! Thank you so much for this class!!
LOL I am listening for the "jabber" (and the giggle, I LOVE the giggle!) I miss in person classes, this is the CLOSEST to the real thing!
I think that everything you say is EXTREMELY helpful and educational. I learn much, much better with detailed description, exactly what you give in your video tutorials. Take no notice of anyone that criticises, as you say, there are plenty of other tutorials they could watch. Thank you, thank you, thank you. BRILLIANT 😀.
Aww, thank you SO MUCH!!! 🥰
You "jabber" as long as you want! We appreciate you and thank you for everything!!
Being in your virtual class is like hanging out with you! I think you’re awesome just as you are and enjoy learning from you. Thank you for for sharing your delightful self with us. God Bless you and all yours!
I your podcast is perfect for my listening enjoyment. Your voice, the pace you deliver and informative knit knowledge I need for my early days of sock knitting. Works for me as I can knit as your vids are not visual. Thank you x
Thank you so much!
I appreciate your measured, calm tone! I have been in a class for beginners, where the teacher paced herself based on the fastest person in the class. And those were not the beginners! Additionally, going ahead when you do not have a method to determine where everyone is in the process can be extremely frustrating for those that need to go back and check directions/demonstrations. You are so kindly providing this instruction to anyone; I think people need to use caution in being critical. As a former educator, it is important to recognize everyone does not learn at the same rate. And, as you said, they could look for other directions if they are entering this learning experience as a race. Thank you 😊
Thank you. As a real beginner 😀 I appreciate the pace and approach you’re taking. I think it will help me not get overwhelmed. I love the banter and side notes - keeps it real and engaging!
I love your class and I enjoy your conversation, that lady needs to find another FREE sock knitting class!
I am loving this class! It's like you're here chatting and showing me how to knit socks.
Denise! "Jabber" all you want! Love your videos!!!👍😎
Denise thank you so much for your tutorials. You are a great teacher. I love your pace. You make me feel like a neighbor sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of tea and a pair of socks on my needles
What a wonderful compliment!!! Thank you so much!!!
Hi Denise, please don't consider to spare any of your words. It's so enjoyable to listen to your explanations and I learn here a snippet and there a snippet and this is how I love classes. And I can't wait for the heel part. I just started sock knitting last fall and since then I am obsessed with heel constructions. Once I feared the heel and now I can't knit fast enough to get to the next pattern to learn a new heel :) Thanks for your time and patience 😘
I feel really sad hearing about that comment. It is odd that the public sometimes feels like they run the show or can dictate how a podcast should be run so I am super happy that you feel confident enough to just do your thing. I love your podcasts and this tutorial, I am self taught and have really struggled with socks giving me huge sock knitting envy. All the 'jibber jabber' allows me to slow down and digest what you are saying instead of having to rewind and run the video a million times. So thank you so much for making sock knitting so accessible!
Thank you so much for your comment and support!!!! You've honestly made my day!!! And I'm so happy that my "style" works for you and has given you the confidence to try socks. In my mind, my mission is accomplished!!! The critics used to really get to me but these days, I really could not care less!!! I'm so happy to be here in my own way and with my own voice!!!
You possible won't read this Denise as I've only just found your platform and its July 2023!! But thank you so much. I'm finding your explanations and teaching fantastic as I work on my first pair of socks and I'm 73!! I've never been able to follow a sock pattern before SO confusing!! But you are so patient and clear and I'm learned all sorts of things from you including how to do Long Tail Cast On. I am also fighting with cable needles too as using double ended ones looked even more complicated but you virtual hand holding is superb and its free. Thank you. I do hope to finish these! I have bought the pattern plus another of your patterns too.
Staying in touch with my UA-cam community is very important to me. Thank you so much for your message. I’m so happy you have found my tutorial so helpful. Thank you also for purchasing my patterns. Your support means more than you can imagine. Happy sock knitting!!
I love the pace of this class. I’m not a beginner knitter, but I’m also not a pro with knitting socks. So I live for a detailed and evenly paced sock tutorial video.🧶Magic Loop is my preferred method for knitting in the round; so glad you’re also enjoying magic loop.
You are doing a fabulous class. I love the jabber and the information you are sharing with all of us! Thanks for the time you are giving to us.
Because I am slow at knitting socks, I like the slower pace, which gives me time to comprehend what is actually being taught, and a chance to put the technique into practice. I have never understood the math of dividing the stitches for the gusset and heel and then picking them back up. I definitely like the “shorty”, and the two circulars, which is my preferred method .
The way you teach actually gave me the comfidence to knit my first pair of socks, I can't thank you enough!
Thank you SO much for your message Kara!!! That makes me so happy to hear!!!
Thanks Denise, as a beginner sock knitter, I appreciate the details and slower pace.
re: the comment you got, oh hell no. I knit while you talk and I appreciate the jibber jabber, I often pick up small tips I had never considered. You do you
Hi Jackie,
Thank you SO much for your comment, support and enthusiasm!!!
And I do plan on releasing a short row heel version of the pattern... stay tuned!! I’m on it!!!
Keep on "jibber-jabbering" Denise! For me, and many others, you're a delight to watch/listen to/hang-out with. People are welcome to scroll on and find the best fit for them. Love you and your channel. I love the feel. It's like you're sitting across the table from me over coffee and tea and cookies or something and chatting about socks (or life or whatever). Love you!
You are doing an awesome job and I hope the sting of that one unnecessary comment will be obliterated by the many, many positive ones that are being posted. I am always amazed at some of the nasty, rude comments a person is willing to make hiding behind a computer screen. Please know you are much appreciated for hosting this beginning sock knitting class!
I’m not a novice knitter but I’m still learning new things from your tutorials, I’m loving the pace of this and the chatter is my favourite part. Thankyou for your time, knowledge and effort 🙏🏻
Thank you so much for your comment Julie. It really means so much to me. And makes this all so worth it!!!
I am a new knitter that has been knitting for a year now and I love that you remember that your class is geared for beginners and are going slow enough for us to see what you are doing. I also like that you talk through the tutorials. Great tutorials!
I love hearing you talk! ❤ keep talking to us
Thank you Tonya! That means alot!!!
I so wish that, when I started knitting, I had understood the difference between measuring and counting. You explained the hazards of measuring so well. That would have saved me a lot of frogging!
Thank you Denise. Going at this pace is so good as I really don't feel overwhelmed. 😊
You are so welcome!
Your excitement is so contagious and makes me laugh - LOVE this series.
Awww thanks Teri...Lol...I can't help it!! I love this stuff!!!
Love your classes.....I have been "ear watching" while I'm at work. So much info I've gained by listening to your videos. Thank you for these classes 🤗😁
You don’t jabber you give us info, thank you, carry on just as you are we love you xx
Thank you so much for saying that!!!
Some people are so rude. Jibber and jabber as much as you want. Thank you for giving us this gift.💖
I’m late to the game on this class but out of all the beginning sock classes I chose this one because I adore your approach, enthusiasm and knowledge. THANK YOU for all you do for us newbies! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥰
You are so not late! You found it right when you needed to! And you are so welcome!
You jabber all you want…I love these classes and will go buy the pattern when I am done here.
There are LOTS of sock tutorials and free patterns out there so if people aren’t happy with yours, they have many other choices. People teach differently and people learn differently so everyone should just do their thing politely! 🌻
Thank you Lisa!!! My point exactly!!! 👍🏾
I like it so. You are a great teacher. You were right in take you time. I started over like five times then finally got it. I feel so good. You were right. It felt a little weird at first. Now I am knitting a sock. You are wonderful. Cannot wait for more.🥰
Dear Denise, I've just discovered you and sock knitting and I'm having a ball!! You are such a lovely teacher. Thank you so much! Les, South Africa.
Hello Leslie,
I'm so happy you're here! Thank you for watching and for the lovely message.
Thank you for your slow, patient and encouraging teaching style. I did have fear of sock knitting! You have helped me so much!
Do not change a thing!! I love your podcasts and tutorials. I always learn something I didn’t know before!!!
Love you, Denise! Thank you!
These videos are wonderful. No matter how much you plan out and pre-think any possible questions or issues, there will always be someone who asks you something out of the box--that is the nature of distance (asynchronous online) teaching (ask me how I know). It comes down to those learning (i.e. the students) not understanding this side to teaching and in this format. You are human. You are doing a wonderful job. Your time and work is appreciated. Thank you.
Just beginning my sock journey. Your videos and class are great. THANK YOU.
You are so welcome!
I'm a fan! Your classes are so personal and I love the way you teach! Thank you!
Aww, thank you so much for watching Carol!!!
Keep on jabbering , PLEASE!!! You are the BEST INSTRUCTOR EVER!!!
🥹 Thank you SO MUCH!!
I finally finished my cuff!!! Omg!!!!!!! I'm so excited.
Can't wait to start the next part!!
Every one on a mission we all need to slow down why race we not get a gold medal if they dont like it, i say on your bike, i love what you teach its great and keep up with the great pod casts you do.
Just discovered you and LOVING this series! I laughed at the 2 at a time comment. I decided as a beginner knitter to do my first attempt at socks 2 at a time on magic loop. Needless to say my loop was anything but magic. Have purchased your pattern as a thank you for such a great series ❤
God bless you for sharing your talent with others free classes full of love kindness lots of knitting in a very loving way...I love your explanations...than you thank you. To those that do not appreciate your talent..let them move on
Thank you so much Olivita!!!
I love the way you teach.
Thank you so much Connie!!
I am so pleased that I am finally knitting a SOCK. That's incredible (trust me) you are a fantastic teacher; I hope you don't change a thing. Thank you so much for your time and the care you've put into this series.
You just keep talking girl. I absolutely love listening to you and your enthusiasm. You’re the kind of person I would love to sit down and have a drink or a cup of coffee with.🥰 Right now I’m working on an overlay mosaic crochet cat blanket. But, when that’s done I’m going to do some sock knitting so I’m enjoying listening to you as a refresher course and learning some great tips. Luv your videos.
Thank you so much for your message and your support Rose. It means more than you know.
loving your process. happy to sit and listen, watch and knit. learning lots, thanks,
I am so glad I found you. I think your podcast is great and this is perfect pace for a beginner like me. To be honest I have been to other podcast and never got anywhere. I ended up ripping it out. I cast on and went through the cuff quickly and I feel confident to continue. Thank you so much for your time and patience. I know you put a lot of work and thought in it. I clearly can see you truly care for us very beginners.
You are so welcome!
I love this series I’m half way through my first ever 🧦
I am so thankful for every moment you are willing and kind enough to give us. Take your time, for once I am really getting it.
Well.. I appreciate your EARTHLY TONE! It’s very relaxing. Like I could knit to you talking 😀
I’m just now watching these class videos. As a beginner sock knitter I thank you for all your knowledge and going over everything step by step. You’re a wonderful teacher! Thanks 👍🏻🧶👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hi Debbie,
You are so welcome!
I love this class. I feel very relaxed about it. ❤️
Some people are so self focused and lacking in grace. Your love and enthusiasm comes through loud and clear and you are a gift to us! I like your talk, so full of knowledge❤️
Thank you so much Leslie. I'm truly touched by your message.
I love your "mindless chattering" I'm making Hermiones everyday sock as shorties. I'm in my gusset decreases. On my 9in circular. I'm looking forward to TAAT.
Thank you for sharing your talent with the world! You are greatly appreciated!!
Jibber jabber away, you are delightful, thank you for sharing and teaching!
And I thank you for watching and for your support!
I just recently found your classes. Omg!! In love!! I have been crocheting for 20 years and a month ago decided to learn knitting. Your pace and knowledge has kept me calm and patient. Thank you so much for all your information and your demos. I’m about to start the leg. Wish me luck!! I look forward to learning more from you!!
I’m so glad you found your way to my channel and tutorials. As I tell all of my students take your time, relax, enjoy the process. It’s not hard it’s just new!
I first learned how to knit in 9th grade home Ec. but we were only taught how to knit and purl. That was many many years ago and I'll be 60 in Feb. so I wanted a hobby and started learning also on cable needles, never knew they existed and I like the fact my stitches don't fall as easy. I enjoy learning all the different ways there is to knitting. I have a huge bag of yarns which I have no idea what sizes they are and still haven't knitted my first project I just keep practicing and now I've almost made a short sock!!
Just got all my components ready! Striped sock yarn, two circular needles, and just got the pattern. Here I go! Bless you, Denise!!! Love you!!! :)
Thank you for purchasing the pattern!!!
Hi Denise. I've just discovered you thanks to Caleb over on Drowning in Knitting. I am so excited to FINALLY be knitting my first sock! I took a sock knitting class two years ago, but honestly it was only a two hour class and I forgot everything once I left the class. Your videos are so clear and easy to follow! Thank you for giving me the confidence to knit and hopefully complete my first pair of socks! You are awesome! Thank you for sharing your tips and expertise with us!!
You are so very welcome Irene!!
Thanks so much for these classes! they’re just what I needed to help me approach sock knitting. Starting my first pair with you and you’re pattern and so appreciate you taking your time to walk through all the steps, slowly and with support for us newbies! Much love!!! 💗🧦👌🏽🤩❤️
You are so welcome!!! Comments like yours make me so happy and make it all so worth it!!!
I love listening to you, I have watched all your videos many times, you are a fantastic teacher and I am a beginner and have wanted to make socks. Don't change how you do these podcasts I learn so much from all this information you are giving.
I for one am not one to watch a tutorial and enjoy the ‘chatting’ at the beginning/end. However, you have such a friendly and inviting disposition and, treating these videos for what they are (a class, not a quick how-to that you have to watch 10 times to understand) I am thoroughly enjoying sitting back in a quiet time and engaging with you and your ‘jibber-jabber’ (as that commenter so lovingly put it). These videos have been so therapeutic to follow along with and as someone who has NEVER knitted anything in my life I’ve still been able to follow along and get a pretty good cuff! You do you, clearly the majority people are loving this series!! And who cares about the minority, they can take their negativity to another persons sock tutorial lol
Darling take all the time you need to explain your sharing..can't satisfy all...I'm grateful for your sharing..GRATEFUL for you💕💞That comes straight from Boston, MASSACHUSETTS..KEEP ON KEEPING ON my sista...learning so much...bless you🙏😀
Hello, Denise! UA-cam served this to me and I decided to watch because I am working on the leg and now the heel flap of my current socks (it's a Crazy Sock Lady pattern). What a treat it is to be in your company as I work on my socks. I was lucky to score your "So this is Love" colorway and stitch marker and I will be so happy to have them when they are ready to ship. I found you not too long ago and I love everything that you do and every way that you do it. 👍
Really enjoy your videos, you’re a great teacher. So easy to follow, your content is amazing. Thank you for sharing
I am knitting socks for the first time in years of wanting to try knitted socks.
You are so welcome!
You are wonderful teacher .
Thank you so much! 😃
I’m lovin’ this class; I purchased the pattern-it is easy 2 follow. Praying for your speedy recovery
THANK YOU!!!!!!!! I have now caught on with my shorty socks cast on and the leg part! OMG, you are such a great teacher and such a caring person 💖 I have always knit socks on 4 double pointed needles. This is my new way to knit them. I am so indebted to you for the new method! I am so excited! So happy I came across your Instagram!
You are so welcome Bonnie!!!
I also love your format, Iam an experienced sock knitter learning new tricks, Thank you
I really love the class. That was very disrespectful of that person. I tried Heel flap many times, my issue is after turning the hell, & picking up the sts. So I do a W&T for my heels.
Yes, I am happy with beginner info. Thank you, it’s great!
You are so very welcome!!
I'm doing it this time! I've actually cast on and completed the ribbing and most of the leg all thanks to you and your generosity! I love the format of this class too. None of my local friends knit so it is a solo venture for me. Listening to you is more like knitting with a friend than taking a class. If you lived next door I'd like to think we would become knitting buddies. Looking forward to Class 4!
This makes me so happy to hear!!!
Thank you for your class. I really appreciate your explanations. Your socks are beautiful.
You are vey welcome Patricia and I thank you for watching!!!
Thank You so much for all your doing:) You do not know how you are helping me!!!!!
Hi Denise. A great class. I love the pace as I am a beginner and will not jump ahead. I did buy your pattern on the day it was released but want to follow along with you.
I think you are 100% right that us beginners need to know the basics first. Thank you again. I hope you feel better.
I love your excitement, it's a joy to watch you. Thank you for sharing your time and knowledge.
I LOVE this class! So very fun!
Glad you enjoy it!
Loving this class. I've made socks unsuccessfully in the past and this really helps. I like the idea of the Princess Sole, where the purl stitches are on the outside and the knit inside for a softer feel against your sole. I might try that with this sock.
Totally agree with you progression to TAAT (two at a time). I knit this way all the time, and every person I've helped, I've strongly suggested that they first feel comfortable with magic loop. You gotta do one, and then the other sock, so that gives them plenty of time for practice.
I’m really enjoying my first time doing this wonderful sock
Awesome!!!! So happy you're enjoying it!!!
I am beginner knitter. Thanks for detailed info and looking forward to knit my first socks. So would be going over the videos over and over.
Thanks for the efforts
Welcome to the wonderful world of Knitting! Remember to take your time and enjoy the process!!!
Thank you very much Denise for everything. I love your pattern and your classes. Greetings from Iceland ❤️
I like your calm voice as well. I just like listening while I am knitting to pick up all the hints. I will be doing the TAAT when it comes up too. thank you
