I thought that PANIC sound was only for me because I'm a newby. When that happens with quite a stitch pattern, the panic is like a volcano uncorking, lol.
My gosh, Denise, this is amazing!! Up until now, I've been tying a knot when changing colour and I've always hated doing that and how it looks. Also, for those of us to whom 1.5 inches of ribbing feels like 1.5 miles of ribbing, what a great way to break up the monotony by changing colour!! I've now tied my last ever knot in my socks!. You're a magician who shows the audience how the trick is done while performing the magic! X

Just found this. Thank you!!!!!! It takes a bit of practice, but your clear, slow, repetitive instructions done on actual fingering weight yarn (instead of aran weight with size 11 needles) helps so much. I subscribed!
I haven’t done this particular method in months. I just watched to get a refresh. I’m going for ribbing to St St and if I understand I just knit. Going from rib to St St there is no blip. Thanks again

So, so, so helpful! I've been anxious about changing color in the ribbing but not any longer! So far I've made your No Fear Shorty socks (3 times) and your One More Step socks. I hate dyeing self striping yarn especially since my place is not big enough to wind/dye thick striped yarn. Planning on dyeing some small skeins of yarn and trying this method out asap!

Great tip at trapping the old yarn for scrappy socks. I do this technique for colorwork but never tried with scrappy socks, which I never make. But will most definitely go buy your shortie sock pattern and try with scrap yarn! Thank you😉

Thank you for posting the tutorial. I think my favorite part of the lesson is changing colors and how you incorporate the new yarn into the pattern. The way you carry the old yarn is almost like intarsia knitting - carrying the float. Thank you for the excellent tutorial

One problem I encountered when knitting toe-up socks is the cuff is always too tight. How do you gauge the elasticity when knitting cuff down socks? Ever since I learned how to knit socks, I knitted toe up. I did knit my mom a pair of thrummed booties and I knitted them cuff down. Do you think it is easier to get the cuff to fit the calf when knitting cuff-down?
Oh Deb, thank you so much for this. Now you have me in tears (good tears). I learned very good lesson from all this. I’m so happy we came together too and that you’re here “in my class”. So let’s get to your question. I have the solution to your problem. I hated toe up for that exact reason but there is a bind off that is brilliant and remedies the problem. It’s called the Extra Stretchy No Flare Bind Off. It provides extra space between the bound off stitches and eliminates the tightness. And you can get a tight cast on with Cuff down socks too. So no, cuff down is not a guarantee. You also asked about knitting knee highs but I don’t remember you exact question. I’m happy to answer if you ask again. Hope this all helps. I did use the stretchy bind-off method, but they still didn't fit right; so, I ordered the thread elastic and i sewed elastic into the cuff. Now, they fit great. Yes, your tutorial has helped me very much. I am thrilled to be in your class. I have learned many lessons today myself, and only one was knitting. I got checked in my spirit. I never want anyone to feel I am being critical. I should have been nicer or just kept my mouth shut. In the end. God always knows a person's heart. There is something about you that drew me in to watch your video. I don't have the internet except for my cell phone. Yes!!! Jogless knitting😆😆😆😆 I'll finally get to learn this properly!!!! And hopefully a much better way of joining new colors compared to the way I do it now (not the best lol). Just started the video, can't wait to see the rest and the next videos🤗🤗🤗🤗 Okay, what the freak!!! Knitting witch magic🤣🤣🤣🤯🤯🤯 knit the initial color change row, knit only, trap the tails, and there's a crazy loop, then you pull the tails to erase the loop and that creates the ultimate join and jogless knit. My mind is blown. I LOVE IT!!! I can use this on not just socks but any project😄😄😄😄😄😄 Denise, this sounds crazy but this video/ learning this new method is exactly what my mind needs to kickstart my husband's birthday today, April 12. Happiness created vs sadness (you know about my loss), thank you for this video/ teaching moment 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 this really does put my mind in a happy place... gives me the right mind set to start the day & celebrate his day vs being terribly depressed over it. Another wonderful tutorial! I know you've stated the woven ends will not come out, I'll have to try it. Given the slack was so easy to tighten, it seems to me it would be that easy to come undone....but I have nothing to lose. Thanks for the great video, looking forward to the next one.
I totally understand your concern about the ends coming out but I've never had that happen...not once!!! Is there a first time for everything, yes...but I really think you'll be fine!! You may want to weave in for a few extra stitches on each end just to be safer.
When you find a frayed area in your working yarn, do you cut and attach the same as you do when changing yarn? Luckily, it doesn’t happen often. Wonderfully done. Thank you.

One problem I encountered when knitting toe-up socks is the cuff is always too tight. How do you gauge the elasticity when knitting cuff down socks? Ever since I learned how to knit socks, I knitted toe up. I did knit my mom a pair of thrummed booties and I knitted them cuff down. Do you think it is easier to get the cuff to fit the calf when knitting cuff-down?

So let’s get to your question. I have the solution to your problem. I hated toe up for that exact reason but there is a bind off that is brilliant and remedies the problem. It’s called the Extra Stretchy No Flare Bind Off. It provides extra space between the bound off stitches and eliminates the tightness. And you can get a tight cast on with Cuff down socks too. So no, cuff down is not a guarantee. You also asked about knitting knee highs but I don’t remember you exact question. I’m happy to answer if you ask again. Hope this all helps. @@EarthtonesgirlPodcast - I too felt a kindred connection, what a blessing! I have knitted a pair of knee-hi socks, and i am actually wearing them now. They are my favorite sock. I did use the stretchy bind-off method, but they still didn't fit right; so, I ordered the thread elastic and i sewed elastic into the cuff. Now, they fit great. Yes, your tutorial has helped me very much. I am thrilled to be in your class. I have learned many lessons today myself, and only one was knitting. I got checked in my spirit. I never want anyone to feel I am being critical. I should have been nicer or just kept my mouth shut. In the end. God always knows a person's heart. There is something about you that drew me in to watch your video. I don't have the internet except for my cell phone. I am working remotely from home using work hotspot; therefore, I have to get off for the day. I will be able to watch from my cell, just not comment. Okay, what the freak!!! Knitting witch magic🤣🤣🤣🤯🤯🤯 knit the initial color change row, knit only, trap the tails, and there's a crazy loop, then you pull the tails to erase the loop and that creates the ultimate join and jogless knit. My mind is blown. I LOVE IT!!!

I prefer to change colors on the bottom or the side of the sock or garment just to be a bit less conspicuous.

Another wonderful tutorial! I know you've stated the woven ends will not come out, I'll have to try it. Given the slack was so easy to tighten, it seems to me it would be that easy to come undone....but I have nothing to lose. Thanks for the great video, looking forward to the next one.
I totally understand your concern about the ends coming out but I've never had that happen...not once!!! Is there a first time for everything, yes...but I really think you'll be fine!! You may want to weave in for a few extra stitches on each end just to be safer.
When you find a frayed area in your working yarn, do you cut and attach the same as you do when changing yarn? Luckily, it doesn’t happen often.
