The G Shock square design is completely iconic beyond watches. It's one of the best industrial designs ever.

Since I'm broke, I just went to the official Casio website and downloaded a template for a paper version of it. The watch is wearable, but took me 5 hours to make. Great video!
I just picked one up on clearance at wally for under $40. If i wasn't finished Christmas shopping everyone I give a hoot about would be getting one.
I saved up for an earlier model when i was a kid and it was promptly stolen. 😡
I can't believe I waited all these years to replace it. This watch is a MUST HAVE.
G shocks just can’t be beat I use my mums that she gave to me that she wore it daily for over 32 years and it’s still as good as new
I have had this exact watch for about a year now. Absolute unit. Efficient, useful, handy, ungodly durable, and most of all: reliable. I fail to find any flaws. I am scared that it will outlive me, but that's just part of having this watch. Easily recommended to anyone who wants a digital watch. Period.

Well the only flaw is that contrast of the LCD could be better, anything else is just perfect.
My first watch was a old Walmart work watch with a resign strap and a gold face. With hands. Now 10 year later I just got my first gshock 5600 and it's the best feeling watch. I've worn
This watch is just evil. A couple of years ago I wanted to get a new watch and remember something like this coming out when I was a kid. Kinda like the Apple watch today - all the cool kids had a G-Shock back in the day. So I got this one since it was only $65.- CDN online. Well, fast forward a couple of years to today and I have 23 of the things - everything from a full metal square to a solar/atomic 6900 on a Jays and Kays nato adapter to the vintage 5600 screwback that I'm wearing right now. My 24th G, the just released in Canada GA-B2100 is due to arrive next week and I know a titanium square will be the collection soon.
Evil evil watch. Glad I found it ;) And it does get significant wear rotation even though it's the least expensive one, I think that says a lot.

I ordered one I had to have it I love the retro 1980's Casio G-Shock watch designs better than any modern G-Shock watch period but that's just me 🤷🏻♂️
Not just you, trust me. I'm sick and tired of landmine sized round shaped G's and their piss poor negative displays (GD-350 and MIP's excluded) which are unfortunately the majority nowadays.
Got mine for $40.00 about 10 years ago. Only put 1 battery in it. I have it on 24/7. Best watch
Just picked one up. I had one in the past and gave it away. I missed it and decided to snag another. My first one cost $40, I paid $52 this time around. Think I'll be hanging on to it. Thanks for the review.
I also think this is the best for under 100$. I recently bought a Casio w218hc light gray and everyone was talking about it at work and today I wore this and no one noticed at all. Like I said sweet and discreet.
I haven't worn a wrist watch for years, due to the cell phone. Recently, I found myself wanting a watch again. So MANY good looking watches out there! I bought one last week online, classic look chronograph. I put it on it and it was a chonker. Just too big and heavy, I returned it. So tonight I started looking again, and was ready to buy a different Casio similar to this one (a blacked out version). I was looking on youtube for reviews and saw this video on the side bar. This watch is very silmilar to one I had years ago. What caught my my was, the contrast compared to the other version I thought of buying. You sold me on it, it should arrive tomorrow.

Me, two years ago: the only watch I need... Now: 4 more G's + some other watches. In addition, I would say G-2900F is also a very good bang for the buck watch as an entry level all-purpose G.
Thanks for the great review. The legendary 5600 truly is one of the best watches money can buy. I daily wear the more expensive steel case variant GW-5000U-1JF and absolutely adore it. I recently bought the DW-5040 anniversary model and now I’ll be adding some other square models including this 5600E and and a GMW5610 to go with my NASA model. I also really like the solar only version (no MB6 radio) the G5600UE. Will I stop there? Unlikely. Ultimately I want a vintage steel case DW5600C.

Great video. I paid £60 GBP with free delivery here in the UK and I have just recently added this exact watch to my growing watch collection ...IMO this is without a shadow of a doubt the best watch you can buy for £60 GBP.
I have 20 Casio watches in my watch collection... Most of them are just from the budget range costing £30 GBP or less and I have 3 other Casio G Shocks... A DW5600 BB with a negative display a bright yellow Casio DW5610Y and a G2900.. I love them all ..HOWEVER, I bought a SKMEI 1628 just to see what all the "Hype" was all about with this watch...It cost me just £12 GBP with free delivery and I have to say I am very impressed with this watch also. You can tell when you look at it very closely that it has a "Watered down" build quality over a Genuine G-Shock ..But for £12GBP with free delivery, it is a very impressive watch also.
I don't have any issues buying just one Casio G-Shock "Knock off" watch...Casio has had THOUSANDS of GBP off me over the Years.

Me too got recently a Skmei 1894 square for 12 bucks - the value is almost unreal !
I have one that's still ticking after more than a decade of use and intentional abuse. I think the crystal/accuracy has been diminished quite a bit but it's still going.
This was my first G Shock shamefully as I was in high school in the 90s 🤦🏽 I was put off by how hard the resin band was. Since moving off this one I have become a G Shock addict.
Put it on a combi bracelet and it looks way better.

One of the best "dumb" digital watches money can buy. It got everything you can ask for on an EDC basis and nothing you don't. Current time in stw and cdt mode, timer settable to the second with flashing and auto repeat, EL backlight (instead of the modern day LED crap), no solar nonsense, no atomic nonsense and certainly no "fitness, connect, notification" garbage. A watch that has its heritage in an age of common sense instead of insanity, along with the DW-290 and the W-740. Although the W-740 is my favorite out of the bunch.

I'm looking at a few as well, as my first G shock, the GW-M5610U-1ER is under £100 as well in places, I want solar and autolight on the one I buy, but I do like the look of luminescent display
DW-5600E any day and twice on Sundays.
I just bought one of these on Amazon for my dog. She'll be wearing it on her collar. It will probably be difficult for her to read but she will probably also be the only dog in the park to have her own watch. I've bought adapters so it will fit her collar like any other watch band. It will be interesting to see how it stands up to a dog's lifestyle.

I prefer the solar version myself, it costs only a little bit more and you don't have to worry about draining the battery each time you turn on the backlight!

Depends on where you live.
Here in Europe you’re better off with the GW-M5610 Solar/atomic, as it is just a smidge more expensive than the barebones DW version.
The GW-B5600-2ER (with multiband 6 & Solar) is even better and probably still under $100 (sometimes).
I have never seen it even close to $100

I recently bought this watch. I have a concern here. Why is the adjust dial button on the top left hand side inside compared to the other three dial buttons. Is it a defect or is it the same for every other watch? I want to give this watch as a gift. So, I'm really confused about whether I should return it or not. I would really appreciate it, if someone who had already used it helps me out on this!
It is intentional so the button doesn't get accidentally pressed during our activities.
They did it intentionally, I don't think it was necessary but apparently they did

I bought a Casio model DW5600BB Module 3229 and Tough Solar + Bluetooth imprinted on the face - I suspect it's a fake Casio
Even W700 has dual time.

Utterly disappointed!
Just after 3 or 4 months of normal usage ( No swimming, No Diving, No Extreme water Sports, No Surfing) it developed fog and water vapour inside the glass disrupting the time view.
I went to the Casio Service centre but the service center people bluntly told me that there was no option for replacement. They also shamelessly told me that their watches are water resistant and not water proof. They said they never claim that their watches are water proof in their advertising also. They simply changed some parts and dried the fog or water vapour inside AND after a few months the fog and water vapour inside the glass RETURNED. What a Waste. 👎
Had it been the case of putting the watch under extreme conditions , it is understandable, but the refusal to replace the watch under normal conditions seemed callous and unprofessional on part of Casio. Utterly disappointed by such a big brand LIKE CASIO AND G-SHOCK with big & HOLLOW claims! 😒
You overpaid for your g-shock.... typical price for that model is between $40-$50 dollars
