I finally picked up my first g shock. I bought the 5600, it’s updated with a white led backlight. I’m happy with it so far, and fits my small wrist like a glove. Great review !
A great review Sam. I love the look of this over the GW-5610, as I’m not a fan of the red line. The 5610 didn’t display the current time in all modes either, although that has been sorted with the U version. The weight is barely noticeable for me and the price is great. I love the squares, I’m getting old now, because I bought one of the originals, the DW-5200 which looks almost identical to this one. I also hear that some of these last 7 years plus on a battery, my 5200 lasted some 11 years on its first battery and I think I’ve only had 3 batteries in the 40 years(in October)that I’ve had it. My son just asked me for a small digital Casio to be sent to him, so instead of sending him a an F91, which I think he’ll be expecting, I’m treating him to the DW-5600e, I hope he likes it. I fancy getting one for myself!
Thanks for showing how to change the am/pm mode to 24H mode. I was used to the A-168 which has a direct button. ☺First day with my new DW-5600 and I feel like a 10-year old kid again (1985) although then the Casio's was not as cheap as today. However you could find "even more plasticy" replikas that didn't last very long.

Got review of a world classic? I have had the DW 5200 known as The hero and three or four 5600e s over the years and wear the watch for work almost every day. I love these squares so have got the Ltd versions of it! These have the metal screw back case,otherwise they are very similar to 5600e! The 5600e is I think the best watch value for money you can buy,if you take in to account how long they last. The later ones with the 3229 module seem heavier on the batteries than the 1545 modules though for some reason?

@delicategenius6113 - Thanks for saying that! ... and thanks for watching 😃👍🏼 As for the "Sun" symbol it's simply letting you know that the light will also flash when an alarm goes off. So, not only will you have an audible chime but you'll be notified visually. Hope that helped. Appreciate your comment.
I have this watch for approximately 3 years, I tried to damage it to try how tough it is. There some parts are broken a little bit but when you fix it, it costs very cheap and even it costs free. Overall, it's find and it works well! It's really tough watch and it resists water for 200 meters! I could swim and take a shower with it!

I use this watch whenever I have yard work, working on the pool, or helping friends and family with renovations or other hard work. The 5600 Gshock was originally released in 1987 and the design is the same as the the first ever Gshock the 5000 released in 1983 which is my all time favorite Gshock ever made 👍🏻

@@priyamganguly - it is only that, a flash alert. The watch flashes when a notification comes on like a timer or an alarm. I don’t recall reading anything about any vibration much less having the watch vibrate on my wrist.
Thanks for reaching out. The hourly chime can be activated directly in the “alarm” section of the watch. Once you are there, press the “B” button (top right) to toggle between activating only your alarm, then only the chime, then both and finally, deactivating all. Repeat the toggle as needed. Hi I have been binge watching a lot of G shock squares lately I currently have the a G5600e and have brought a gw5610u, then saw the gw5000u which I brought also. will be selling the 5610u I would guess and stick with the GW5000u maybe )
The lack of EL on the 5600u is a deal breaker. The Led backlight looks poor in comparison. How do you find it Vs the 5600e?? Are the extra features worth the worse back light?

@mikey blue eyes - Specifications indicate 3 to 5 years but I see testimonies all over the place i.e. some say that after 10 years, their watch is still running strong and others say that after 1 year the battery died on them. So, I can't say for sure. What I can say is that is fairly straight forward to change if your battery runs out. So I guess it's a non-issue when it's that easy to change and easy to find (battery: CR2016). Thanks for your comment. Hope this helps.

I changed the battery after 11 years. It was still working, but I was worried the battery leaks.

no vibrations and low volume alarm, if that is true its not a great watch. also, only one alarm, not 5?
