Wild Winter - Landscape Photography in the Scottish Highlands

  • In this video I lead a photography group up the snow covered mountains of Glencoe in the Scottish Highlands. Our hikes were lead by Rich Pyne a local Winter Mountain Leader. During a week of storms the wind hardly stopped but it created some excellent opportunities for landscape photography and perhaps more importantly, made the experience incredibly memorable.
    If you would like to join this trip next year there are two spots remaining:

      Thanks Mali! Unless you have mobility/health issues you could definitely do this kind of thing - it’s just a matter of getting fit. I do take a lot of normal people on these trips - I’m one of them!

      @@alexnail thanks for this Alex, my only issue and believe me I’ve looked at booking. I’m terrified of heights!

    • @alexnail
      @alexnail  Рік тому +1

      @@MaliDaviesPhotography well that’s a harder one to judge I guess! The one thing I would say is many mountain routes are extremely safe and don’t involve exposure/drops. So whilst coming on a trip like this might be a limitation to the group, it’s totally possible to get together with a group of friends and hire a Winter Mountain Leader to (affordably) take you out. Drop me an email if you want me to help you organise a trip like that :)

    Very nice pictures and clips. Thanks for putting the video together. The videos remind me of a trip we did in the Canadian Rockies and were on a similar slope in whiteout conditions. Unfortunately, we weren’t prepared since it was part of a seven-day hike and the middle of summer. Everyone was fine but there wasn’t any time to take pictures. We returned two years later to the same location at the same time of year, it was +25C.

    • @alexnail
      @alexnail  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah, this happens a lot in Scotland. Last May it snowed (albeit lightly) on the summits but a couple of years before it was so hot and humid that I didn’t fancy going up any of the summits with a group - too much like hard work! So we stayed low and swam in lochs instead!
