Yes, fair to say that going back a month later worked out well! I think that visit was the luckier of the two! I’ll do my best to get the Iceland video out next week but it’s squeezing the edit into evenings and weekends at the moment!
I only came across your channel recently Alex, and I must say your videos are an excellent resource, especially given your approach to producing realistic, natural photos. As for this one, what a fantastic looking route with some beautiful images. Very interesting too to hear your thoughts on your compositions, and how they are impacted by the prevailing conditions. And as an aside, it's always good to see other Scarps out on location, such a fantastic tent for this kind of thing :-)
Thanks Brendon, realism has been a big part of my ethos from the start. If you are interested in the subject generally then you can listen to a podcast I did with Erin Babnik on ‘F-stop collaborate and listen’. And yes, I’m a big fan of the Scarp 1, not least because I actually fit inside (I’m 6’4 so too tall for most 1-mans). The tent on the left is the old style though and you can see in the morning video just how much the arch pole is struggling! I may well replace it with something stronger!
@@alexnail I'm 5'7, so for me it's palatial, but I can see why you would appreciate it's length even more :-) I did notice in the video how the new model seemed to be dealing with the wind better. I guess it makes sense considering the couple of upgrades made to the fly and guy system. In any case I'll certainly check out that podcast, thanks. Looking forward to your future videos.
Was great to see the two photographs side by side to see the difference between them. It’s certainly very remote and a serious undertaking but great you both managed 6 days in such splendid scenery.
Loved the depth on the pair of images at 12:20 Alex, different in colour pallette & light but both very striking images for me. You really looked bushed on that morning..lol. Did I spot Joe in the Icland video preview? atb Al
Thanks Alan! No Joe in Iceland, but I’m actually meeting him tomorrow, he chairs the RPS Landscape Panel which I’m a member of. Tomorrow is our first assessment day in person.
With mountains and views like that, even I would be tempted to camp more than one night in a row! Looking forward to the new book and some Iceland videos. :-)
Great photos and video. I wouldn't mind a little of wind blasted audio to set the scene in your videos. 6 day hiking! I'm out 🥵 Not that fit anymore. Keep up the good work 😀
Simply, thanks Alex.
Hope you both had a great trip.
Unfortunately the wind and haze really kicked in later in the trip, but the first two days were fantastic, so you win some you lose some!
Love your explanations of composition and what doesn’t work and why , looking forward to the Iceland videos
Thanks Andrew! Just need to find a moment to edit them!
Inspiring Alex! I could only wish for a summit camp with grass here in the Swedish mountains! 😉
Ha yes, and I can only wish for peaks with regular snow, extensive woodlands in the mountains and true wilderness!
@@alexnail Point taken!
Ah yes more Scotland, cant wait to watch this. ☝️
You can watch it first 😉
@@alexnail But its better for the Algorithm if you get lots of interaction as soon as you upload a video. 😎

Great video, landcape and photos 👍
Thanks Stig
Great video Alex and brought back memories of that epic view and that wonderful rainbow in May. Looking forward to the Iceland vid!

Thanks Carl! And yeah it’s always interesting to see the same scene in drastically different light!

I really love your approach to composition. Thanks for another great video Alex!
Thanks Paul, and cheers for continuing to comment, it gives me the all important motivation!
Great video as usual Alex, I really like the way you approach composition. I can’t wait to see the Iceland video 😁
Cheers Alfonso! I’m quite looking forward to editing the video, although it’s going to be a bit of a push, I have a busy month!

Yeah, I get to see some pretty special things that’s for sure!
Great video. Did you buy the Scarp1 direct from the States?
No; I actually have 2 now, both second hand

It’s really unpleasant to listen to, even if you could manage it, I couldn’t!
