We visited Fort william on our staycation about 3 weeks ago, was lovely, went on the jacobite steam train, because it was warm we left the hopper window open and bits of soot landed on our table, we gathered it up as a wee souvenir lol, was nice to wave to sightseers on the hill as we went over the Glenfinnan viaduct, was a good experience, nice wee day out.
April is actually one of my favourite months to go! The colours start to wake up, the air is so lovely and places aren’t crowded. I hope you have a wonderful time! ❤️

I went to the scottish highlands a lot growing up and I honestly really appreciate it. It's possibly the most magical place in the united kingdom and I wish more people knew about it because it is so great.
Thanks to movies, series and games it is one of my favorites in terms of landscapes and buildings. Sadly I haven't been there yet, but one day I will drive a motorcycle there!

Yes, you must return to Mallaig, but only if you go to the incredible bakery on the harbour just as it curves around the boats. We arrived in Mallaig on the ferry from Skye as we were heading back to Glasgow to return to Canada. You made the right choice climbing the hill to watch the train. We were at the bottom, but your view was much better. I bought so many souvenirs in their lovely gift shop that I had to buy a bag as well :) We have already booked our return trip to Scotland for next year.

I visited the highlands last year, staying in Fort William for a week with trips out to Inverness, Loch Ness (didn't spot the monster), Skye and a ride on the "Harry Potter" train to Mallaig. So much stunning scenery but Glencoe was the most beautiful place I saw. although the views if you climb Ben Nevis are glorious (and it still had snow at the top in late May). I'd love to go back.
I am Irish, and the footage here immediately reminded me of some of the wild western landscapes of Ireland. Be it somewhere in the wilderness like west Donegal, or down in the west of Kerry. Not as high mountained overall, but the misty mountain hops here are brilliantly familiar. And- the Scots Galiec you hear on the bus is related to the Irish language, so the words he said also are very familiar. Failte, meaning welcome and other things like that. Great video!

Two years on but no matter; I wonder if the guide at Glenfinnan also mentions, besides the fictional Harry Potter, this is the site of the raising of the Jacobite Standard (flag) in 1745 for Prince Charles Edward Stewart. The video caught sight of the Memorial to the Highlanders down at the loch's edge but the actual site is high above that marshy place where the clans could assemble on solid/stony ground.
Thanks for that, I decided to watch this during a coffee break. Perfect coffee break viewing, I come from Scotland, it was lovely to see many of the places I have already visited. Hope you enjoyed the "tablet", it's a bit sweet for my taste. Great video!
I love how Scotland's beauty is preserved. They still have grass and trees. Here in New York nice scenery is taken over by excess urbanization. I live near a big cemetery which is very nice and shows the potential of what this place once looked like.

Fantastic video first of all! My wife and I just honeymooned there for 8 days in October, 2022. I'm of Scottish/Norwegian ancestry and became spellbound, it's such a beautiful and majestic country. I feel like my DNA is compelling me to move there, and my wife also cannot stop thinking about going back. We're now planning on moving there in the next few years. An absolutely magical country full of friendly people and beautiful sights everywhere you look. We spent a couple days in Edinburgh, toured the Glasgow necropolis, spent two days in the highlands (spent the night at the Portree Hotel - a bit expensive, but cozy and very good food in the restaurant - highly recommended), explored Inverness a bit, and wrapped up with a day in Stirling. Saw many castles and ancient mossy graveyards. There are ravens EVERYWHERE which is awesome for me because they're my favorite bird. Scotland has to be the most beautiful place on earth, it's absolutely ridiculous how photogenic everything is, everywhere, at all times, and the weather is awesome if you like cooler climates and plenty of rain. Shout out to Isle of Skye Brewing Co. and their Skye IPA - the best beer I've ever tasted in my life. My wife even loved it and she hates beer. Rant over. VISIT SCOTLAND.

Nice video! I did a tour in Scotland years ago. It's always been my #1 dream to go there (I blame the movie Highlander XD) and I just fell in love up in the Highlands. Glenfinnan is my go to happy place desktop pic when I need a break from work. I just could not get over the beauty of that valley. And that one place you went to with the cottage just gorgeous. I might need to plan a second trip lol. Thanks for sharing :)

Hi Marianna I really enjoyed your luvly video, it was really very enjoyable, you touched breafly on Ben Nevis, well just to let you know that I have climbed up to the top of this mountain many many years ago with many of my friends but it was quite misty when I reached the top but it was quite a climb, l think if l remember rightly there was some snow ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ around at the top , l was glad when l reached the bottom again, but thanks for your nice video.
Wonderful! Scotland's countryside is very understated - it is not so much about massive mountains and raging rivers - yet very engaging and highly intense in terms of emotional impact. As you note, such magic cannot be captured via camera. This is, I feel, because the air and the sky play such a role in the experience - there is a prevailing dampness that ensures one feels the atmosphere. Too bad you didn't get more time in or get to show more of Pitlochry. It is a fabulous town, with great walking adventures to be had around it, and Moulin, with its fabulous church and restaurant housed in a large white building, just on its edge - a real surprise, offering an experience that looks more like 17th century France than it does Scotland (Moulin is French for mill).

To me, Scotlands Highlands are one of the most beautiful and dreamy places in the world, and I really mean that.
