I wasn't quite sure if I was going to like these all that much, but honestly, they turned out pretty great! They aren't as nice as a fully decorated Mini Base, but they are a fantastic substitute for having to put a lot of effort in, when all you have to do it wait on them to cure, and you are good to go for some stylized bases to add a little extra flare and pizzaz to your minis!

As a former art kid, I love the use of stuart semple pigments. Good to know that you're not Anish Kapoor
By watching this video, you confirm that you are not Anish Kapoor, you are in no way affiliated to Anish Kapoor, you are not watching this video on behalf of Anish Kapoor or an associate of Anish Kapoor.
I am in fact, not Anish
@@Rybonator you are in fact, too funny and helpful to be anyone other than you

Those are some great Pepperonis! I am now inspired to play a campaign where all the character are pizza toppings in a pizzeria...hmm...
Ah, resin-a Pepperoni's! Just-a like a-mama used to make!
I don't play DnD, but Chaotic Good Pineapple who is suspected to be a villain but really isn't.
The sassy clap for the sponsor transition had me crying I was laughing so hard. 🤣
I am nothing if not a sassy lady deep down in my heart.
It’s so cool how the blue & teal one looks like water on the smooth glassy side, and like ice on the textured side. Also LOVE how the teal mana base came out!
It's a dealer's choice on how you wanna flip the blue ones to match your character I guess :)
I just watch the videos to hear the dad jokes at this point...
Love your content anyways but the puns are top notch!
One day I will have a kid, and the world will crumble beneath my dad jokes!
that last set of bases just SCREAMS cad clayyyyyyyyy
YOU SAID UNICORN SKIN!!!!! I GET THAT REFERENCE!!!! I've been really wondering if the Holo Nail Polish would work in resin to replace the liquid glitter!!!
I imagine it would eventually harden or dry out, but hey! Experimentation is half the fun! :)
Hell yeah nail polish works! Not too much, I just use a drop, don't have any holo, but my glittery silver nail polish has the same effect as the liquid glitter, it works really well!!
The quality of polish will also have an effect on the outcome. I have some wilting of plastics just using cheaper colors to surface paint. My gf is a stylist and she refuses to let me raid her OPI ones (understandable).
@@rallyfeind the Holo Taco ones are super high quality, as far as nail polishes go, so i think im gonna try it! I'll post them in the Rybonator discord when I make them!
LOL! I was also proud of our dice goblin king to start using the unicorn skin terminology. Our Holo queen would be amused. 😋
At first the pink foil and teal ones reminded me of a mermaid theme and then after you said how it felt japan/anime like I realized that they are a perfect Vaporwave ascetic!
Oh my gosh yes! Synth wizards all day!
Wait, you're telling me that sponsor mention *was* planned?! That was so smooth I didn't notice until halfway into the sponsorship!
It's hard to tell when you are this good at transitions! And humble too.
Rybonator talent _and_ humility is a powerful combination
The pink and teal ones really remind me of Caduceus ^^
I was thinking the same thing! It's super on point with Caduceus vibes
My Arizona Tea soft cowman 🐮 🍵
I love how you're just like "There's no particular reason I'm using this I just have a lot of it"
I love how the Queen Anne's Lace ones came out in the end!
Right? I think they look fantastic in resin :)
I don't think that I'll be entering this hobby anytime soon, but I love how informative and entertaining these videos are. You give me a greater appreciation for the craft, time, effort and experimentation of the artisans in this community. My quarantine has been a lil easier watching these.
My wife said "yes we do". I said "no we don't". My wife said "yes we do"... i was wrong lmao
My life summed up
@@Rybonator Next time just believe her the first time lol
mitchan3763 I like the way you think
This turned out so well, I'm hoping to use this method to make tokens for games too.
You can also use cabachons for that as well :) I did a vid on it!
@@Rybonator thanks I'll check that out. :)
Even though I don't play D & D or make dice, I still think the process and the final products of these videos are facinating.
Every video of yours is such a joy to watch, and although I’ve never made a resin piece in my life, they’re always the highlight of my day. Puns as terrible as ever, and really love how the mana-ey bases came out! Thank you so much!
Thank you for the kind comment Daisy :) It started my morning off right! I'm glad I can entertain you in some way.
And I agree, the Mana bases are some of my favorites from these sets :)
I think this would be great for magical and ethereal miniatures.
The pink foil/teal ones are definitely Arizona iced tea haha
I dont have minis, no one to play with and not a 3d printer or printing service, yet I still want this. Rybonator stop.
You don't have that stuff... Yet! ;D
I used to play Warhammer 40k, back in the early 2000s. I got out of it, but still enjoyed the painting. I tried to get back into it but I developed a shake in my right had that makes fine detail hard to do. You could just do the painting, which is fun in itself.
@@marclytle644 I have a friend who fell into the mini painting rabbit hole. I might try it , but not before I get a more suitable income.
@@Rybonator The Devils words are tempting
Always love the puns. Please never stop doing then
These are the only puns that I actually like! Also, have you considered making a kind of resin diorama? You could fill the mold with "water" resin and add some evil fish, treasure and maybe a sea serpent!
You mean the puns you can "stand"?
@@dan-gy4vu You're "base" ically the voice of our generation! XD
Those teal and... Unicorn Skin(?) bases really gave me the chills... Looks soooo icy and cool!❄️
I just 3d print my bases but now with this I'm going to make some dope resin bases for my friends
Making these seems like it would be a great way to show conditions on a character during combat.
Whelp, this makes me want to get myself a pressure pot now. Gives me *something* to look forward to in Melbourne's second lockdown
100% worth as a dump mold. Anything turns into a black base with a little spray paint so its not like you are losing anything by doing this. I love these kinds of projects where you just give people in the hobby something to be less wasteful.
Love the idea! The flowery-looking bases would be perfect for my druid, I might just have to make these myself.
That super base got me
The see-through, mana-like bases with the Mica powder look so cool, Imagine using some clear plastic with a magical sigil or something like that!
Always impressed by the sheer number of clips that go into your videos. Idk how you did this before you went full time! Keep up the great work :)
Every time I watch one of your videos, it slowly builds up my confidence to actually try creating some resin creations. Thanks for always showing the process; the good, the bad AND the glittery. ☺️
Oh man, now I want to figure out how to make my own of these for when my order from Reaper's last Kickstarter comes in. It looks like it could add such a fun new dimension to mini painting, really sort of help pull it all together or add an extra bit of effect!
Absolutely! It can make a mini take on a whole new life with a bit of color beneath them!
The flowers look insanely good with this, honestly the flowers look better for this use than even the dice (even with the problems)
The teal mana one is my fave!! They all look cool though! I definitely want to try this!
This is really cool. Definitely going to make some dump molds now
Just as a note, one thing that I've noticed with the Reaper base boss ones is that you can also invert the base, clean the edge up, and it normally matches up with the depth of the integral bases that Reaper tends to have on a lot of their minis.
You could put magnets in the bases and put a couple tiny magnets in your favorite mini's feet so you can move them around.
Those green/ pink extras at the end reminded me of Caduceus Clay's armor/ character design
The red and gold looks like pepperoni and I think that's pretty dope
The lava ones look like pepperoni. Perfect for a food rpg
Hey! Just wanna say that I make resin charms, and I'm looking into making dice which is how I found your channel. But a lot of your tips are REALLY useful for general resin crafts, so that was a real bonus! Especially your polishing tips, I've been tearing my hair out trying to shine some pieces up!
I think the red foil and the clear resign would also be a good fit for like a very orange-y character - could look like fall leaves under a warm shaded druid or smthing.
And the blue and pink ones look absolutely gorgeous. Immediately reminded me of Arizona Tea and cr's Caduceus
can't WAIT to see those new dice in the next video because those bases are AMAZING
The lava bases look like pepperoni 🍕. Great content!!
That Falaster Fisk's figure went from one session sidekick NPC to a PC with simple base swap. Amazeballs!
These look really cool!
The heart ones look like Charm status effect bases.
These are really cool I really like the unicorn skin one I thought the skinny alien guy would have looked amazing on that one. Cant wait to see what's in store for your next post
I was going for like a "Deep Sea" vibe with him, but you are right! It would have made him for more spacey and alien-esque! :)
THEY'RE SO SICK
GLAD YOU LIKE THEM! :D
rybonator: lava lookings
me: pepperoni
This is really cool! Whenever you make dice of an interesting color, it would be nice to see what you do with the dump resin.
This looks amazing
That intro was pure gold
Great... now I need multiple bases for multiple minis of the same character! 🤯😅
Jokes aside this was an awesome video and you killed it as always!
It did give me an idea for a chronomancy character that summons multiples of himself from different timelines to fight. This varying base with the same mini is perfect for that kind of character!
16:46 All of them look good, but I just love these. They just make me go wow.
Rybonator: 10:54
Me: Wait...no no God please no NOOOOOOOOO
"oh no... Here it comes..."
That last pink and green set just shows how long he worked on his full sprue mold guide, Kudos to him
For the flower set, if you want the base to be transparent on both sides, you can use clear UV resin! Just paint it on the surface, use a lighter to eliminate the bubbles, and cure it under a lamp. I think it'd be cool to watch you mess around with UV resin in general.
Great idea, keep it up.
I love this video and all the others you've made. your channel has been the turning point in getting me to join the dice making hobby. I've enjoyed every test piece, success and failure I've had. Thank you and please keep making this great videos and even greater puns.
I love the contrast between the seriousness of your voice and the cheesiness of the puns :P
Awww cmon Rybonator, this is super cool and I wanna do it
Damn. I'm all about those base(s).
I'll see myself out.
But really this is super cool. The finished bases are pretty!
Also, you have so many patrons now!!!! We are so proud of you!
Aww thanks Jenny :) You made me smile!
You could fill the back of the black bases with a product called "Green Stuff" which is a low thermal melt moldable plastic then stick them in the tin to make your mold. Afterwards you can use a little heat to remove the Green Stuff and it is reusable for another project. Great video by the wat.
Love these!!!
Also. I think I prefer mica flakes over unicorn skin. Unicorn skin sounds horrific and gory
These are cool bases!
Also, yours are the best Skill Share transitions!
You could also use these as references for your resin mixes. So if you write down how much resin you mixed and how much ink etc then pour one of these with the leftover, in future when your thinking of ideas you could just have a look through the samples to see which one is most like the colour/effect you want and check your notes.
This is great! I don’t have any irl friends to play dnd on a table so minis are useless to me but great idea!
Have a nice day everyone
You as well Rocco! :)
Always enjoy your vids. Good job on those bases. Pretty soon you will be making terrain out of water guns.
Haha oh yeah I've seen that challenge! Should have jumped on the bandwagon :)
Here's a suggestion for your next dice set colour, green, purple and silver all together. I think that would look amazing given your talents.
It might come off very "Joker" in color, but it's definitely a good combo!
@@Rybonator yeah, you could add more of one than the others to give it some variation or to avoid it looking like other characters/things.
The flower bases would be excellent for an Eladrin to show the different seasons too
OHHH now there's a great idea!
Ok that intro was amazing
The cream spinach XD
hey! thank you for making this video! im super happy when i watch your stuff. you're the one i watch for inspo and i was thinking of making bases for the minis the other day and trying to figure out how to make molds for them and i found this video. thank you so much and i enjoy every video you've put up!
Awww dang I wish I could make stuff like this! Your very talented!!
Pausing the video to tell you - if you want to get better at art, do it! It’s totally possible, it just takes some practice. Start with simple shapes, use some reference, start a sketchbook. Much of animation (though it isn’t my forte) relies on simple shapes and the manipulation of those shapes. If that’s what you wanna learn or do, go learn and do it! It’s totally worth it.
Wow, this video really covered all the bases.
I really liked the basis of those puns
Thank you for doing this. My minis are going to look a lot more dramatic!
3:53 NIce recovery there Ry xD
Next time could you maybe polish one of them all the way to the shiniest possible surface finish? It should be easy with your fancy rotating table and them being just flat pucks
My first thought was to use the mana ones as bardic inspiration tokens so people remember to use it! Maybe make matching dice too to hand out with them...
a cool idea would be to make the bases be status effects just pin a minis foot and have several bases per mini. If you added some purple and a little green the to blue mana bases could be used as a hypnotic pattern effect
That would be pretty awesome actually! I've seen some 3D printed ones, but we can make it better!
@@Rybonator It would be a lot of work but it would look better then the bottle cap things I've seen used and it have more style points haha
Rybowife to the rescue with the double sided tape 😂😂😂
I would truly be lost without her lol
Rybonator truth
The two part silicone putty is not something i have seen before. Interesting stuff. It reminded me of when the King of Random made protoputty with silicone caulk and corn starch and I wonder if it could be a cheap alternative?
They look good!
Thank you :) Glad you like them!
Do you take requests for videos? Just learned a little bit about glove molds and I'd love to see your take on them! Your videos are super easy to digest and understand
That cherry blossom set reminds me of Arizona Green tea
I'm new to the channel, but I'm watching every single one of your videos. My son got me hooked. Am wondering if you have an actual Etsy store where you sell any of the dice or bases you make?
I'd have thought you'd use UV resin to stick them on. Maybe I think too much about Resin 😂 these look awesome!
Thank you for another video that save me money
the red/gold looks like pepperoni :P
Sees "thank you for letting me share this skill..." in captions; Skill share plug?
Hears it; No, i think he is just saying it
Skillshare sponsorship starts; you got me this time :)
*I don't have anything against you getting sponsorships, just got tricked for a second there
Hey, I was wondering what the safest way to dispose of the excess resin and silicone mixture parts is. I want to make sure I get it right when I inevitably have that little bit that needs to be cleaned out instead of poured back in.
How do you think the flower ones would look if you added the extra under them in the turf mix? Do you think it would look like three dimensional flowers over grass?
The green/blue with the pink flakes looks like Arizona tea cans.
I love your puns!
