How to Make Your Own Dice | Spooky Halloween Edition

- In this video, I create 4 different styles of dice based off of Subscriber suggestions! Skull, Pumpkin, Nerd and Googly Eye dice for a frightening spook-tacular video!
In this video I use molds from both my Giant d20 dice video, my sharp edged dice video, and my 24k gold dice video. Links to these videos can be found on my channel, as well as in the cards at the upper right corner of the screen whenever I first show each of the molds.
Look, sometimes DnD needs to get spookier. It's called Dungeons and Dragons after all, not playhouses and puppies. (Though I would totally play that game.) So I thought it was about time we got some spooky dice on this channel.

Looking at that huge dice I just had a crazy idea: "Dice dice"

Someone gave me a pair of d6's once that are hollow and have even smaller d6's inside so you roll two at once.
Or go even deeper with "dice dice dice". Put tiny dice in normal sized ones, then put the normal ones in the giant d20

Pink nerd ones look like brains. A set for a dm to roll for any undead creature. Make it spooky ooky.
Pumpkin I'd do a nice cream.
Smoke skull one totally silver.
Nerd ones I'd say a bright neon blue might almost be cute.
The eye ones could have a deep blood red.
My thoughts exactly.

My votes for inking are...
Pumpkin: Green or Black
Skull: Silver, maybe a burnt Gold kinda Coppery metallic
Nerdz: White or Dark Pink
Eyes: Sky Blue or Brown

@@escalator8969 Kinda but not really, you can get really dark pinks without going full on red, the pink I am thinking of is darker than that of the candy so it shows up against it and still complaments the purple.
Copper on the skulls would be awesome :O

These are sick! A translucent green “gelatinous cube” style set with skeleton bits and armor/weapons inside would be awesome!

I would LOVE to see a Life or Light Cleric set! My fav from this is easily the skull dice
Light clerics are my favorite domain :) They will totally be happening.
The eyeball set is to Stare in Judgement when your bard makes a seduction roll.
I think the Nerds dice would look nice with a deep blue, the eyes would do well with all metallic black or dark grey, and the bones would look awesome with either a bright toxic or deep creepy green! And green on the pumpkin die as well
I like the blue idea for the nerds haha :) And yes, it is my job as the DM to judge the bard

Ciara Connolly if you roll well, it really shouldn’t be too big a deal. Just make sure that they actually roll for a bit and don’t just fall on the table
@@aliakhatib4907 I am saying that they are balanced because they are stuffed with eyes. If it had only been 1 or 2 they would have been unbalanced

Those are really cool. I used to use bleached bone with a flesh wash over it when painting bones year ago. Liked the eye ones.
Had an idea, a set with plastic SPIDERS in it!
I need to find spiders small enough to fit though :(
Hey, for the spiders you could absolutely use some shaped sprinkles(like for cookie/cake/etc. decorating)
I can guarantee you that there are spider-shaped ones out there
Despite me not playing D&D (yet😉), I realized through your videos that I’m absolutely a dice goblin. I love them so much!
I really dig every single one of those Halloween dice!! The sound the eyes make when you shake them is so delightful. Here are my suggestions for the number colors:
Great Pumpkin: dark gunmetal or swampy green
Nerds: neon green
Skulls: glow in the dark green or a similar color (white with hint of green) or silver
Eyeballs: deep purple
Yet is the perfect word ;)
I'm liking the neon green idea a lot for the nerds :)
Also, glad to have a dice goblin on board, even if you don't play DnD... yet ;P
I LOVE the googly eye dice! The skull dice are also incredibly cool. (Catch me looking for discount halloween decorations to make a dice tray now)

I was really impressed by the nerd dice! When you showed them at the beginning I really thought they were brains, and I wondered how you'd created that effect, haha. I bet a set with green and yellow nerds would be really cool for an Easter theme.

The skull dice are definitely my favourite *^* they’re so spooky!!! Silver or maybe a dirty cream to bring out the skulls’ colour?
The nerds one was really really fun and different! You could do a mix for that? Like pink on the sides that are purple and purple on the sides that are pink?
And the googly eye one...just imagining how fun that would be to roll randomly making everyone stop and stare! Not sure what colour for that one...black might stand out well? Maybe

That bone set is seriously the coolest set ever. The holy grail of all dice. I'd personally paint the numbers gold on that one.

The skull set is by far my favorite of your sets. I’m going to have to make some molds soon! I’d suggest a pale blue for a more ethereal feel. I agree with the green inking for the pumpkin one
Ohh yeah that would give it a ghostly feel! I am making a ghost and skeleton army for Warhammer so that's perfect :)

Those colored wisps in the skull dice look really cool! I'd love to see you experiment more with those alcohol inks, and making cool sets with wisps of different colors. There's /r/ResinCasting on reddit, where there's people making all sorts of really cool objects in resin with layered inks of various kinds, glitter and pearl dust etc, and I'd be really interested to see what works for dice.
Oh I'm on that sub haha :) I would love to get more alocohol inks, they are just so dang expensive. I got a few now though, so you might see more in some coming vids

I'm thinking ideally a Valentines Episode: Chocolate Dice with Cherry inserts and White Chocolate 'ink'
You could do chocolate, Jello, or hard candy dice. Chocolate is the hardest to work with. Jello is the fastest but wouldn't roll. Hard candy is pretty simple with sugar, water, dye, and a candy thermometer.

The grave cleric and mindflayer dice are also my fave of those. As a person now deciding that making their own dice, along with other things is a smart idea, your dice makes series is a Godsend. For the pumpkin die I think a dark purple (like the frosting color from ihop whip cream) would look great. For the skulls I think a off pearl would pop and go great with the theme. The nerds I can see a a emerald working and the googly eyes would be navy blue or hazel color.
I like the idea of a pearl for the skulls :)

I love the skull dice! They’re like necromancer dice! I had that idea to use Nerd candy a few months back as like a candy series. I’d love to see what would happen if you used different types of sprinkles.

For colors?
Pumpkin: green or brown
Eyes: black or glowing blue
Skulls: silver or glow in the dark green
Nerds: bright blue or red
I'd love to see some lightning/storm themed dice! I'm excited to see the other classes dice sets you'll do(especially the barbarian)!

I have a question, how do you keep the various things inside the dice from pressing against the mold and poking out of the resin? I was expecting to see a nerd or skull worn down from polishing and partially exposed
Most of the time it's just luck to be honest haha. But the silicone is hard enough that it pushes a decent way on it, and the pressure pot makes it so resin is pretty much always coating everything. With sanding we are taking off a SUPER thin layer, so it's USUALLY not a problem.

My color suggestions:
Pumpkin- dark green
Nerds- white
Bone- silver/gray
Eyes- black
I worry about black on the eyes taking away from the eyes, but that's where I am leaning
Rybonator I think there’s enough white that black numbers will stand out enough to be seen but won’t take away from the eyeball effect. Red numbers would blend in too much with the blood imo.
Won't the black from the pupils get lost with the numbers?
I really like the pumpkin dice. You could see it as a bit gimmicky but I think it's really cute.

Well...for the inks I think:
Pumpkin: Dark Green
Skull: The greyish silver sounds pretty fantastic actually.
Nerds: I think it would be cool with a toxic green. It's the color I think of when I think brains and supernatural stuff. Or perhaps a vibrant cotton candy blue to go with the colors.
Eyes: Gold. I want to say red but I feel like red or black might blend too well with the colors of the eyes and blood splatter. Unless you go daaaark red.
Hey, gold is number 1 for a reason. I'd ink everything gold if I could haha
Make the numbers brown for the great pumpkin. Like stems on a pumpkin.
It might be kind of hard to see, but I do like the idea!
Inking opinions:
Pumpkin: gotta be green. Anything else would either blend in too much or would make it look off theme. And why else would you have a gimmick of a die if it’s gonna be off theme.
Skulls: a gunmetal grey or a silvery grey would be really nice. Or maybe a dark metallic purple.
Nerds: you are right, white numbering would be the best on these.
Eyes: I think black you probably be the best option here.

My color suggestions for the numbers: Green for the pumpkin die.
Anything metallic, perhaps antiqued or tarnished looking metallic for the skull dice.
Yellow for the candy ones.
And a nice bright silver for the bloody eyes.

Ahh yes the spooky dice for such a spooky month, thank you for making this dice goblin happy! And I feel you should colour the first 3 dice what you should like and then the eye one going with the red blood splatter theme maybe where the red is do a like black or dark colour and where the white is do red or vice versa

I just bought that same purple set from Die Hard, they arrived earlier this week. I got them for a grave Domain cleric I'll be playing in the new year. The texture and the matte finish are really amazing!

Green for the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown,
silverish for the Smokey Skulls,
black for the Gorey Googly Eyes,
and maybe a light green for the Brain Alien dice? Since I they totally do remind me of brains and like cosmic horror a bit.
