    Really awesome towers. My only opinion/critique is with your acrylic tower: If there's ever a rev.2, would be nice if you could move the switch itself into the base and use an acrylic rod to push the switch. This would help clean up the aesthetics by hiding the black switch and the black and red wires.
    Other than that, still an awesome tower.

    Always thought the main purpose of a dice tower (at least my reason for wanting one) was to keep the dice contained. Making sure they don't roll off the table or onto the game playing surface (possibly knocking over minis and pieces). Also adds some cushion so they aren't so loud rolling on a table.

    I liked your tower, if I made it my own, I would have used speaker wire with clear insulation for the switch, and given it a landing platform, like many of your contemporaries with a fancy clear acrylic hinge so it could fold for transport. Maybe thrown in a rechargeable battery. Overall nice work everyone.

    Very cool to see so many different versions of something with the same function. I love dice towers, cause they are practical and can even be used as scenery if made to look like the setting of what ever the game you play is.
    I made several of xps foam and some of eva foam. They make very little noise when used because the softness of the materials, specially the eva foam ones.
    Otherwise, if you don't like the rattling noise you can always glue some felt or similar to the inside to soften it a bit.

    Those are nice.
    In my efforts to stop spreading my gaming stuff all over the table, I built a gaming box with a dice tower in the lid. There's also a rail to prop up index cards or spell cards I need to be able to reference.
    The bottom part has the dice tray to catch dice from the tower and several compartments. One holds pens and pencils. One holds index cards (the lifeblood of gaming). There's a little niche for post-it notes (great for noting conditions and whatnot), and a compartment to hold dice and/or minis. I made it big enough to hold a couple standard Chessex plastic dice containers, which can also be converted to mini transport cases with a little poster tac.
    It keeps my dice, player notes, and supplies contained in a space about a foot wide, and (mostly) stops my dice from ending up on the floor.
    I might add feet that lift it up off the table. That way, I could slide my character sheet under it when I don't need it and save a little more space. That'd make it a bit more of a pain to transport, though.

    • @vidm96
      @vidm96 2 роки тому +1

      @@hoguemr Microphones/vibration sensors would definitely be a bit more tricky to get to work reliably. Fortunately, the acrylic can transfer vibrations quite well, so a microphone could even be hidden in the base, as long as it's mounted directly to the acrylic. Might be a bit more difficult to get working properly, but it would also allow for the tower to be completely clear, without wires. Another option could be mounting the entire thing on a stain gauge (weight sensor) and have it trigger when it senses a significant weight increase when the die is dropped in.
