This is probably the most practical "beginner" haversack kit on UA-cam. The books, nobody ever talks about the books. That's what bushcraft is about, using minimal kit to get s#;t done. Good information, for real!!
Haha I second NEVER seen a broken Bahco saw snapped sooo many silkys now ughhh SCREW em the folding Diablo is a winner for me to the 6" version I make is just perfection ✊️🔥✌️💚
the bacho saw the farmer x and the mora woodcarving basic is my go to almost every time, the only difference is the blade shape on the mora. I have more expensive knives but these are just as good as any knife.
yeah, Mora type knives have kept Scandinavia alive for millenia, small and light enough to EDC (befor knifebans...) saami, vikings... all gave very similar blades
I like your approach very much ! Eight books I've never seen in any gear show-down. But survival and bushcraft depends on KASE - Knowledge, Awareness, Skills and lastly Equipment, in this order, knowledge being the most important factor. Add a BIC-lighter, a water filter, some water-purification tablets and a poncho/tarp and you have a complete survival kit. Tip: mix the beeswax with lamp-oil to waterproof the haversack, beeswax alone will make it rather stiff an it will soon start to leak at the bends. Glorious idea to DIY a (folding) handle for the saber-saw-blade, crafting your own gear is sooo satisfying! I made a folding saw for a 300mm pruning saber-saw-blade, my new favorite now.
Great vid. I would have stopped with the first 3 books (thats me). Also, I like to make small lanyard stuff out of that orange fire type paracord. Great for visibility and helps to start fire. You are so right about getting started inexpensively.
Funny thing about silky everyone ive seen has a broken tip. I personally have a corona folding saw but i do like bahco saw design an they are tough. Ive moved towards knives with puukko shape and size. I really like BPS fin lite my absolute favorite is the adventurer. Nice equipment it's so true skills are more important then gear where books are most useful. My first lessons were boyscout handbook an boys life magazine.

For what all came with it it's a pretty good option I think. 5" x 1/2" will last someone a long time

If you plan on spending any time in the woods, always have some Benadryl for allergic reactions. Could save a life!
