Beavercraft bushcraft knife review
This was the January 2024 knife of the month on my Instagram (@bushcraftkelso)
Beavercraft glacier was a great performing blade, came sharp and stayed sharp with just the strop.was much more comfortable than I initially gave it credit for.
For a sub $40 knife with sheath I think they hit a home run. All I had to do was glue the scales but that wasn't a big deal personally. Weputthisknife in a bunch of people's hands during some classes at Georgia bushcraft and everyone enjoyed it.
I'm going to say it's probably more comfortable to someone with larger hands. But that's just my opinion.
Great budget option.

Tops mini sling final thoughts and mods
Переглядів 2,5 тис.9 місяців тому
Well I lost track of how many shots put through it but it was plenty to find out what I needed to improve. The frame is bombproof no issues whatsoever but the bands tend to have some sort of degradation (some people have had them fail almost immediately) It's either the oil they coat the frame with OR whatever the leather is treated with that effects the bands IMO I left it out of the sheath an...
Power bank update. Fuse upgrade
Переглядів 37510 місяців тому
This little power bank is still going strong. After much testing and normal use, while running a fan my friend had it blow the included fuse. So being proactive I decided to replace mine with the same mod he did. We replaced the holder with a HD in line automotive fuse. Since there has been no issue with the fuse blowing. #diy #survival #powerbank
To rust or not to rust ? Budget stainless blades experiment part 1

I took a hand full of inexpensive blades off Amazon and threw them in the yard. let the elements have them for 2 months. Used them and replaced them in the elements. Now it's on to durability testing. #bushcraft #survival #knife
Is it a knife or a spear ? Cold Steel Bushman line
Переглядів 8 тис.Рік тому
Lots of fun to be had with the Bushman knives from cold steel. The OG is my most used but the mini is pretty awesome IMO also, but hard to find bow days. The bowie isn't too far removed from the original, just a bit more width with the same length and thickness. #bushman #coldsteel #knife
Start blacksmithing for under $100
Переглядів 509Рік тому
I do a demo at outdoor events showing what $100 will get you to start moving metal in the back yard. Something to heat, something to beat, and a little imagination is really all you need to start smithing. Everything except the tank and the torch was from Harbor freight, and the tank and torch was from Homedepot. You can mix and match stuff to your liking and these items are just what I put tog...
Adding shock cord to my Särmä 10L pack

Adding shock cord to external webbing on packs is a great way to add some carry capacity. Weave it to your liking, add as much as you would like. This 10L from @varusteleka has been a fantastic pack. #survival #backpack #diy
The $100 EDC challenge, a month of different gear.
Переглядів 1,2 тис.Рік тому
$100 later I have picked up the items I feel I will use the most for my month long experiment trying to accomplish my norm, with different gear. I knew what I needed to roughly follow the same skills and projects I'm accustomed to with my normal EDC ( past video up on what all that is ) So let's see how well this stuff holds up... I'm most excited about the SAK with the lil blade, the fancy pen...
108mm Victorinox Safari
Переглядів 2,4 тис.Рік тому
Fun story behind this dude. I appreciate the time spent with this blade, hope it serves you well. I feel like a Lem Sorcerer would carry a SAK especially being a ravager. Victornox made these 108mm to give a civilian option for the GAK. So basically switching the scales from green to red and switching emblems. #edc #swissarmyknife #krugarr
Axe kits, personal mods for the bush
Переглядів 854Рік тому
Like most of my kit, I've got to where I have customized my gear to best fit my needs and personal preferences. I like turpentine patterns, short straight wooden handles with a light jute wrap, lanyard and a leather mask. The way I carry them is the same across the back or over the shoulder but provides me with an extra strap in an emergency. The Rothco straps (about $9) are inexpensive wide we...

FARMER X My favorite EDC KNIFE
Переглядів 13 тис.Рік тому
IMO the best pocket knife for Bushcraft and survival has got to be the SAK Farmer x I carried a farmer for a long time but when they added the scissors I went that route. Alox scales are tough and don't have the tweezers or tooth pick, but the quality of the included tools make up for the lack of those two luxurious bits of kit. The saw and awl/reamer are the classic alox work horses, the blade...

If you wind your waxed hemp from bottom to top you can leave the ranger band on and just pull out the hemp as you need. I run two wraps of hemp to flush out with the tape. They are individual wraps both starting at the bottom. Works great.

I bought my first CS Bushman in 2001. I also have a few of them. But not the mini. Have you seen the Condor Matagi? It’s my favorite “spear” knife. I don’t think it’s made any longer, but worth it if you can find one. The Matagi mini is my main bushcraft knife.

It's 1075, and no sporky mall ninja would ever be seen with it. Lofty Wiseman, a legendary, no nonsense, Godzilla of survival skills chose this as his ideal blade steel. It is clear why he did. Never seen a coconut that could bend the will of CPM 3V.

@bushcraftkelso2013 Hello from Oklahoma. My last name is Kelso, I enjoy bushcraft as well and I was wondering if I have a long lost brother (just kidding….kinda) my cousin sent me a IG link to your gar leather quiver. It’s stunning. I made a similar style from a raccoon many years ago. I don’t have IG so that’s why I’m commenting here. I’d love to see a YT vid on tanning gar leather or just on that quiver.
