When someone of Buddy Guy's stature as a Blues guitarist and calls you his best friend and requests that you join him on-stage to jam with him, you know you've arrived!!
Buddy & Stevie was absolutely perfect together! Like a Telquila Sunrise, so smooth, yet wickedly hitting when you least expect it! My all time, "Out of the Fucking Box, Blues Men"!
I want to hold my toungue with the "imagine if he was still...", and just thank God he ever was. Crazy to think I was 6 years old when my life's hero would leave this world. Thank you SRV. I was fortunate enough to meet Robert Cray in San Diego one time, (one of the classiest, nicest human beings I've ever met) and he was at the Alpine Valley show. To hear a true bluesman talk about the world changing, and the greatest departing was something else, the respect he had for Stevie. Reading Buddy's book recently made me think the same thing... There is only one Stevie Ray Vaughn, but he will play on forever.
This is the greatest electric blues performance ever recorded. If you are familiar with these gentlemen's tone, you will hear the greatest electric guitar maestro of all time mentoring the greatest guitar player who ever lived. Calling this a master piece is like saying the roof of the Sistine Chapel could use a little more blue.
I never had the pleasure of hearing SRV live, but I saw Buddy Guy several times around the Bay Area of Calif. during most of the '70's in that area, the Blues were not popular, except a few of us. There was one Blues Club in Oakland. Some of the best blues were played at Elies'. Ron Thompson, who won the Bammie for best blues guitarist 3 years in a row, could be heard sing in little dives & Computer Company parties. By the '80's everyone claimed to being an Elieqregular. lol I only saw 2 light skinned people during the '70's. Me & my one friend brave enough to go to Elies. I saw Buddy, for the first time, at the first Bay Area Blues Festival in San Francisco. It was free (in Golden Gate Park) and only a few showed up. BB was there too. One of the best concerts ever!!
My pals and I saw SRV that night with Jeff Beck, which was mind blowing. I could not convince my friends that we needed to directly to Legends as I figured this would go down. I was not the driver or we would have. we ended up going for Pizza. It was swell.
that good birthday 53 celebrate buddy guy together with his better follower and stevie ray interprets of the best blues , there is obvius the euphoria with which there touches his guitars both blues man , his exchanges of words and praises his best friend and young guitarist SRV ,life to this legend buddy guy and for ever SRV ( being sorry that not this one video to see this concert thank you , you tube )
Hard to tell if it's Buddy Guy playing or Stevie Ray playing like Buddy Guy.Stevie Ray Vaughan used to do a better Buddy Guy than Buddy Guy did.Thank you Stevie.
I can definitely tell the difference. Been listening to both these gentlemen for a long long time. Seen Buddy Guy live in Philadelphia waterfront What a jam
Yeah I missed trash all right the only thing that would have made this better if it was alive and we could have watched it and did not just listen to it that we've been so awesome to watch and play together on this video I sent they got a but I mean on the video two of the best in the world at Blues smoking out the guitar I've got other clips of them playing together but this is a 25-minute jam session that would have been awesome to see
jemjean100 Buddy Guy is 5’-10”. He and Stevie were just about the same height. There is a video of them together at Buddy’s club, they are standing back to back, and you can see there is almost no difference in height. Stevie was 5’-9”.
Ben separated by the machine. That's OK. life shouldn't be taken too seriously. It's all just fun. I'm about to have some. What about those. What ? Sometimes we end up where we started. But what what a trip. Or should I say journey. This is fun. I really don't give a FK about mind patrol. Welcome. I'm OK.
whoever done that surely doesn't have a soul or heart, and why are they listen to music ,a music lover loves all walks of music and we have plenty of soul and heart and a rythm that rocks you bone deep
this was recorded right before Stevie got clean and sober. you can hear how bad his addiction was, through his playing. from the very first lick. If you listen to live stuff after 89 you can that he was clean, sober, and head huntin. S.R.V.
For some reason I find myself wanting to throw a large object at you for this stupid and misinformed comment. Do some research and have some respect for the great man. Smh

Like Buddy always says, "Play it so funky that they can smell it"!!!!! Buddy & Stevie....Legendary FUNKY BLUES!!!!!!!!!!
Buddy & Stevie was absolutely perfect together! Like a Telquila Sunrise, so smooth, yet wickedly hitting when you least expect it! My all time, "Out of the Fucking Box, Blues Men"!
Stevie is my favorite guitarist ever. But Buddy is absolutely filthy! Love him so much.

They’re all right with me !!! Low down and dirty.

it"s true!!!
So well and sensitively said my friend, thank you!
Sadly, Robert Cray has gone woke. He is no longer a classy, nice human being, but a vitriolic racial ideologue.

If you're SRV you don't need to be in standard tuning to sound good over any track.
This ain't long enough. Chiraq
I'VE BEEN CENSORED
ARE YOU ALL CRAZY.
WHAT'S MISSING.
Ben separated by the machine. That's OK. life shouldn't be taken too seriously. It's all just fun. I'm about to have some. What about those. What ? Sometimes we end up where we started. But what what a trip. Or should I say journey. This is fun. I really don't give a FK about mind patrol. Welcome. I'm OK.
neither of them would need to be told about tuning at standard 440 or anything wasnt the first time playin together ..why so defensive girl ?
Too many algorithms.
.....and some young whippersnappers say the blues is boring?
Damnedifiknow

I am plagiarizing from another YT comment... but the one person that gave this one a thumbs down.... I hope your liver explodes.

For some reason I find myself wanting to throw a large object at you for this stupid and misinformed comment. Do some research and have some respect for the great man. Smh
This was Sober Stevie here (nearly 3 years). Buddy was celebrating his birthday and was pretty buzzed here.
Man, these two are so amazing!
