That guy was channeled from a different universe and a different dimension, just like Hendrix was. I feel very fortunate that he shared so much of himself with us while he was here.
That high action is what he learned on. Built him fingers of steel from an early age. He used very thick strings which gave him a unique tone. One of the greatest guitarist in the world and he was actually self taught..beside what his brother Jimmie Vaughan let him pick up along the way..a great solo singer..a writer of his own music and songs..a producer and he did all that would help hisself along the way..a legend and finally had a strong band..Stevie Ray Vaughan entertained the world and played values and rock n roll..a real go getter and always performing for his fans..so humble
There is nothing like something as the best guitarist ,but thats my opinion ,i agree..the man is a legend .When 4 example John Mayer dies he becomes also a legend ..and there are plenty of other guitarist who wil get that status .
Nah, John Mayer is a Deuche. Talented, but cocky and unlikable. SRV was always humble despite his incredible talent. If and when Mayer dies, he won't even compare. Plus his flame has burned out already. Stevie's was burning hot. Say no more.
Such a humble and genuinely nice, pleasant guy. I've read that people who worked with him, especially his band, said he was one of the truest, nicest guys you'd ever run across in your life.
Amen! Mr. Cark was one of a kind. I think he was one of the first 'pickers' that iI ever noticed, thank to Hee Haw. I was born in late 1964. He caught my attention early, a long with Jerry Reed, a few years later. Then I grew up and discovered The Eagles, Boston, and a few others. But, I never forgot about Roy Clark. He, and the others will always be my inspiration for playing, even though I'm a classic rocker at heart. Take It Easy was the first stone that I taught myself to play. I cant handle Roy's songs, even after years of playing.
@@elizabethreed2090 watched him I did, including seeing him live solo back in the early nineties. though he rarely did both, he certainly could. there are videos on here to back that up. I didn't know he was classically trained but I am not surprised. he played many complicated pieces that would come much easier to someone with classical training.
hard to say who is the best of all time but SRV is simply amazing first heard him when I was 10 and have been hooked I'm 42 and love him now more then ever
I really love how they show his capabilities on the camera. The close camera shots were really key for me here. What a lovely man, and his willingness to put on this show for what was an average interview I'm sure.
Bein' an old fugger, I have to say seeing Double Trouble at the Kaiser Auditorium in Oakland '87 ( I think....) was the greatest show I ever saw. When they finished the show you could have heard a pin drop for a few seconds. Till, that is, the crowd came back down to planet earth. Then the place exploded. Unreal!
The whole reason I started playing blues and got into BB King and Albert King was because of this man, he certainly held the torch high enough in a time where blues might have been forgotten by all the other crap out. So awesome, wish he was around today
“When I play guitar, I think of it as carrying a conversation. I have to pause and think about what I’m gonna say. With Stevie, the conversation never seemed to stop, he just flowed.” - B.B. King. RIP SRV

I used to watch "El Macombo" after my band played a gig where i thot i was awesome........I'd look at the video and my hands and say "WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!!!!!!".
@@killcancer6499 there's always some smartass that takes a comment out of context. All I'm saying is if you practice, and really want to play this style of blues, it's not as hard as you think. It's like some Hendrix tunes. They sound literally impossible to play, but learning them is a little easier then they sound. Same with this, if you get the rake picking down and the finger pluck while still holding the pick, you can play this, just takes the desire to do so.
No doubt, and anyone who says differently is an amateur, jealous, lame-brain moron. He doesn't just play songs on the guitar, he becomes the songs. SRV had a deep-rooted, spiritual connection that goes right through him to his fingers and the strings because what he does on the guitar is not human and no one else, including Hendrix, has ever matched his talent and maybe no one ever will. These fast-picking, show-off, oh, so, cold, egotistical, amateur guitar players nowadays can learn something from the master, SRV...it's not about speed, it's about feeling, originality and uniqueness! RIP, SRV!
I've also thought of Stevie as the greatest of all time....his tone and his touch on those 12 gauge strings (with the intonation raised) is unbelievable!!! No one pours out their hart through their guitar and pores like Stevie ....and if you think this is crazy you should check out his MTV Unplugged performance from 1990, he does rude mood on a 12 string acoustic!!!!!!
After 20 years I finally thought I was ready to « try » learning his stuff. I’ve been practicing for 5 months now, I’m getting slowly to a point where it sounds ok, but man the other stuff I play! I became so much better at it! Thank you Stevie for inspiring me, making me love practicing for hours again, only the second guitarist to motivate me that much after the one that got me on the guitar (Mark Knopfler). And thank you John Mayer for bringing his music to the younger audience. Blues will never die, in a 100 years srv and the others will be the Mozart’s and Bach of the time.
David LG And he worked so hard on listening to those he admired and playing their riffs over and over and over until he got it right then made it his own!
Back in the day, when I was young I had an old hippie ( who said hippies were assholes) took me to see all the greatest guitar players alive at the time except maybe one or two - SRV was miles above the rest. The first time I saw him at the Beacon in NYC had no clue who he was....blew my mind like my children being born. I will still hold that night in the top five experiences of my life - saw him 4 more times - love him like a brother though I only got about 8 feet away at a college show I waited 4 hours online to be up front - He was the greatest by far and if you don't know this it's not your fault - I was lucky that old hippie took me to see all the best alive - again SRV = miles above the rest - I miss you Stevie!

witnessed his masterful performance in 85 in college had center isle, 40 rows back, one of the best sounding live concerts ive attended. Blows my mind how good SRV was!!! My favorite blues inspired rock guitarist.. he is the blues, in his heart, mind, and soul. RIPSRV - your spirit lives on!!!
Stevie Ray Vaughan, one of my favorite guitar players of all time!!! R.I.P. SRV
I love the way he uses a decidedly more delicate touch when playing this antique. True artistry. He just blows my mind at every turn.
Just franfreakintastic guitar player.. 😀😍👍
He is so good and pure with the guitar that it makes me cry. The best.
how can you not LOVE this man's music! Stevie Ray is STILL the BEST and I truly miss him!
I have a 1912 L-1 and love jamming with Stevie on this, what a terrible loss.
He was the best guitar player I’ve ever heard. R I P Stevie. You are sooooo missed. ♥️🌹
That precision though
Monstrous
His right hand is stupid good.
Style: rolls, rakes and turnarounds. So cool!
This should be shown to every child who ever thought about music and how it can touch your soul
brilliant! I love his acoustic stuffs as well!
Such a humble and genuinely nice, pleasant guy. I've read that people who worked with him, especially his band, said he was one of the truest, nicest guys you'd ever run across in your life.
If you haven't seen it, look up the vh1 Legends special on Stevie Ray. It's posted on UA-cam.
Everyone talking about all these players you might look at some of Roy Clarks stuff. The guy was out of this world on anything with a set of strings.
Mulltothree Did He play the bass?? 🙈🤔
Amen! I cant handle Roy's songs, even after years of playing.
weird comparison but it's true that Roy was a monster on guitar. no style he couldn't play.
Roy Clark was a trained in classical guitar also IF you watch him he could not sing and play at the same time...
@@elizabethreed2090 watched him I did, including seeing him live solo back in the early nineties. though he rarely did both, he certainly could. there are videos on here to back that up. I didn't know he was classically trained but I am not surprised. he played many complicated pieces that would come much easier to someone with classical training.
hard to say who is the best of all time but SRV is simply amazing first heard him when I was 10 and have been hooked I'm 42 and love him now more then ever
steveie ripped trees out and brought planes down
I really love how they show his capabilities on the camera. The close camera shots were really key for me here. What a lovely man, and his willingness to put on this show for what was an average interview I'm sure.
I will watch this a million times!! superb acoustic jam!! simply the best!!!
Man I miss you brother
R.I.P. STEVIE RAY
Rock in Peace ✌
We all miss him dearly....
Fuck me that was good. It really showed his raw skill to play acoustic. Wish we had more video of him with acoustic... but this is a treasure.
Best guitarist ever
I was mesmerised by his right hand, you could tell that guitar makes you work for it but Stevie made it look easy.. as usual
Unreal!
His magic is in his rythmnic motor. That meter. So solid and stable. That right hand is one the best drummers in history!
Truth
His magic was a central nervous system stimulant called cocaine
@@asmithii84 i think i might like to try me some of that cocaine
I think he was shedding it long before coke!
Stevie didnt just play the guitar, he became one with that guitar. Pure soul
Headphones on, eyes closed, that is possibly the most beautiful guitar playing I have ever heard.
Absolutely the best guitarist of all time!!
Hardly . Nothing he played was original, it had all been done before.
@@green323turbo it's not what he played, but how he played it.
@@christlutz3823, True he had that shuffle style for sure
You don't need to say this, we all know that he is..
Thanks for posting this! What a joy to here this! One of the best of all-time!
I was at Stevie's funeral in 1990..would not of missed it..he is missed everyday and one of the best blues players period.
The whole reason I started playing blues and got into BB King and Albert King was because of this man, he certainly held the torch high enough in a time where blues might have been forgotten by all the other crap out. So awesome, wish he was around today
God I miss him, What he gave us, and what he could have. Legendary
love when he plays at this tempo
Wow! This is an honor to listen. I am not worthy.
His picking is so aesthetic. Its paradoxically so loose and wild, yet still super precise.
“When I play guitar, I think of it as carrying a conversation. I have to pause and think about what I’m gonna say. With Stevie, the conversation never seemed to stop, he just flowed.” - B.B. King. RIP SRV
Saw him live in 85' soul to soul tour...
Hill auditorium Ann Arbor MI...
Home on leave and my buddy had front row tickets! What a show still remember it like yesterday....
RIP!!!!!!
Thanks for the vid I just threw my guitar out the window
I used to watch "El Macombo" after my band played a gig where i thot i was awesome........I'd look at the video and my hands and say "WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!!!!!!".
LOL
This really isn't that hard, just takes practice and the will to play it.
@@RBunks92 Cool, why don't you post a video so we can see you do it?
@@killcancer6499 there's always some smartass that takes a comment out of context. All I'm saying is if you practice, and really want to play this style of blues, it's not as hard as you think. It's like some Hendrix tunes. They sound literally impossible to play, but learning them is a little easier then they sound. Same with this, if you get the rake picking down and the finger pluck while still holding the pick, you can play this, just takes the desire to do so.
Greatest Guitar Tone - I have ever Heard, is S.R.V. Riviera Paradise - It just Kills-Me . . . Every-time. Phenomenal Guitar Player. R.I.P. Legend.
very high action on that acoustic, which he seemingly favoured makes this all the more amazing.
“I use heavy strings, tune low, play hard and floor it. Floor it. That’s technical talk”. -SRV.
Tuned down a half step he liked
Greatest guitarist of all time I don't give a damn what people say this shit is nutts
Johnny Winter a little more refined but rawer too imo
true.......hes a sick azz stringbeater
No one pours out their hart through their guitar and pores like Stevie
....and if you think this is crazy you should check out his MTV Unplugged performance from 1990, he does rude mood on a 12 string acoustic!!!!!!
@Hydro Effacer
I'm a huge Hendrix fan, but you might be right..
"I'm not talented, I'm obsessed"
Damn, we were all blessed the day he picked up the guitar and learned to play 🎸
He was a remarkable musician!!! ♥ May you rest in peace dear Stevie Ray.🥀
I live for the intro of this video. Just Stevie playing Lenny in a dark room. Now that's a full video I'd like to see.
This video is a treasure.
Interesting piece...I hear elements of "Pride And Joy" in this...
lordhoho1 it is absolutely P&J. Half of this awesome video is what he played for the P&J solo I'm unplugged. Watch the unplugged video agaim
+elplebe12121 Indeed
It more than just the same key, its the same rhythm and many of the same licks. I'd call it a jam based on pride and joy.
It's just a basic 12-ish blues in E; the reason it sounds like "Pride And Joy" is because that song is one of a trillion 12-bar boogie blues in E.
