    Lonesome Dave died from his Kidney cancer 7 months after this performance, his wife died later in the year from Cancer she was battling at the same time, it was horrible it drained all there savings and they were broke at the end. Should be in the R&R hall of fame, Dave wrote and sang most of there music , RIP. The Peveretts

    The music gave Dave a purpose to be alive and battle his cancer. It was therapy of the best kind. God rest his soul! Gave us so many rocking songs. Never be another band like this.

    Lonesome Dave Peverett, belting out the classic "Slow Ride"........even terminally ill, this legendary Man performed and sang his heart out. Respect on his Name. He died 7 months or so after this performance.

    I TRULY LOVE FOGHAT!! A band from FLINT MICHIGAN called GRAND FUNK RAILROAD did very similar high energy rock and used vocal harmonies like FOGHAT's. This music will never die as long as true fans of it are still breathing! Today's so-called artists have no friggin clue how to ROCK!

      That's two great bands that shaped my musical lifestyle :) I really feel sorry for this generation - they have nothing even remotely close to what we grew up with (oh crap, now I sound like my parents, lol). I never got to see GFR, but Foghat live in '78 is one my favorite memories :)

    I have a story about this song that I can remember, it was about 84 or 85, I had my first car, a 70 camero, I went to a party with a girl in a small town and a couple of us met up at this party, the girl I was with ignored me because her old boyfriend was there but he ignored her too. I was drinking and the record player was in the house with a lot of different albums and I was playing the music I liked, I kept playing slow ride for a while and then I was about to leave and I told the girl to get another ride, once I found the highway on ramp, I was good and I went home. My memory comes and goes.

    @Jewelrydude I saw Fogat trice before Lonesome Dave died. Once in Detroit at a venue called HARPOS about 1984 or so....and again in Southern California where I live now at a small theatre in Ontario Ca.
    Both concerts sounded AWESOME....Foghat was the BEST sounding band I ever saw LIVE.
    BTW....this video is less than a year before Dave died....he was going through treatment here I believe, he looks rather thin.
    RIP Dave...miss your entertainment man!!

    Here is song one must know the meaning of to understand how did it come about? One the drummer and bassist were just jamming, after enough jamming the band joined in. Rest is history
    The meaning is about intercourse how long an man can last with a woman, the reason is slow, then at the end speeds up, and is the length it is. Now that is talent to come up with all that and make a hit song about it

  • @jeffalan6339
    @jeffalan6339 4 роки тому

    Now this is how to write and perform a tune.
    It all started off as jam session with the drummer and the bassist,then to write the song as how a long man can have intercoarse with a woman
    The tune is written to the length approx 9mn +, at the rtyhym and then speeds up.
    Ah, rock at it's best main reason is my #1 genre.
