Dave was a really great singer. I don't know if he got the credit he deserved for it. At least these songs are still out there. I don't think there was a better blues rock than Foghat.
Yea my favorite FH tune. I bought the album on cassette tape (and later on CD) and loved to crank it up loud in my car!!! The 70's and 80's were a time when some of the best Rock-N-Roll music in history was made! Long live Rock.
Foghat live 1977 was the shit. Rod Price made this band as far as music. One of the best, I would say the best slide guitarist period in Rock n Roll history!
The old Sportatorium, saw my first 2 concerts,Starcastle/UTOPIA & Robin Trower in77 and Sammy Hagar,Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush and NAZARETH in Feb/78.Great fucking times driving over from Naples ...Alligator Alley.fun times
Jetster, it is incredible, but, UFO’s Strangers in the Night, is right up there next to it. Was at the show in Chicago, at the Amphitheater. But yeah, Foghat Live is just so fucking great. Been listening to it for 42 years now.
nidsaw u are so right no venue in the land can ever compare to the Hollywood snortatorium as we nicknamed it it was the best era of my life. thanks for all the great times at the snortatorium
My first concert The Palace WTBY Ct. ....Dave came down jamming right in front of us then handed my girl his pick ....great first show .....70’s put out some kick ass bands that put on incredible shows ....most I paid was 22 bucks ...and we thought that was a lot ...✌️😎
I SEEN A COMENT THAT HELL YEAH THE 1070s WAS GREATEST DECADE FOR ME AND ESPECIALLY MUSIC. I SEEN FOGHAT WITH NAZARETH IN GREENVILLE SC IT WAS I THINK 1981 GREENVILLE MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM. FOGHAT BADASS . GRANDFUNK RAILROAD MY ALL TIME BAND
Lonesome Dave (RIP) had it all together. Erik Cartwright was so very good too (RIP 2017), but I've always preferred original The Bottle = Rod Price (RIP) and his SG style Gibson Les Paul. Originals Roger E. and Tony S. are so very exceptional! Mr. Earl has always been steady and there; a Mr Beat - laid just a little bit back. Tony had great substitutes like Craig MacGregor (RIP 2018) who was such a good dancer on stage, but hell, Mr. Stevens was the original bass. Thank you Dave Peverett !!! Born April 16, 1943; RIP 46+ in Feb 2000. FOGhat; wear one! Nick Jameson was on bass for some album cuts in the 1970s - studio bass player/producer.
Long Beach Arena (original. Torn down years ago) early 70's. Intro band for I forget who the headliner was. These guys stole the show! Lonesome Dave doing his trademark rock'n back and forth.
Wow, Hollywood Sportatorium.....Should be hallowed ground not a shopping plaza like it is today. Lots of great memories, what a PITA it was to get to and a bigger PITA to leave after a concert. And the awesome tailgate parties in the parking lot before the concerts. Acoustics sucked but it was THE venue for the time and place....A bygone era for sure.
Can you believe they were an "opening" band for this concert! Unbelievable . . . they "opened" for Blue Oyster Cult on this tour. They blew the crowd away!
That's Erik Cartwright on lead guitar. I have a preference for the play of Rod Price, the original lead guitar player, but Erik is no slouch. Great song, great band.
These guys opened for Blue Oyster Cult in Wendover, Nevada two weeks ago, and they kicked as much ass as they ever did in the 70s. Be sure to catch them if you get the chance!
Just boys having fun. I wonder if they had any idea how phenomenal they were. Seems they didn't give a shit. I think they would have gone balls out if no one came to hear it. Fortunately they didn't have to
Ever wonder why most bands today don't make live albums ( oops, sorry they don't have those any more ). It's beacuse they SUCK and can't play live and couldn't sell a live album, cassette, disc or download- period. Think back on how many great live albums are from the 60's, 70's and even the 80's.
Not sure if I ever saw them at Cooley's, but been to the ballroom many times in the 70's. But then, I don't remember a lot from the 70's anyway. I am sure I saw Mothers Finest there. I believe it was their first show in Atlanta, (and prior to GA Jam). I was also at the GA Jam. That's been a few years....

One of the best guitar intros ever I reckon!!
The 70's had THE best music hands down! Period! End of story!
Denise Flick Totally!
Denise Flick Except for all those born 10 yrs after us who think the 80s was the best music ever. I totally beg to differ on that one.
Dave Peverett was one of the greats!
Dave was a really great singer. I don't know if he got the credit he deserved for it. At least these songs are still out there. I don't think there was a better blues rock than Foghat.
My favorite live cut of this awesome song.. it's raw energy belies just how damn technically challenging it is to play but everyone was spot on
"Lonesome Dave" your voice and guitar chops are missed by many.
Dave gots monster pipes, they sound better live than in studio. RIP
Yea my favorite FH tune. I bought the album on cassette tape (and later on CD) and loved to crank it up loud in my car!!! The 70's and 80's were a time when some of the best Rock-N-Roll music in history was made! Long live Rock.

The real and only voice of Foghat, Lonesome Dave !!!!!
That is very true
They were HIGH ENERY PURE ROCK N ROLL
When music was real and we were free.
Here is the perfect man, with the perfect attitude, & spirit!!!
I love it,this is classic rock and roll people
This is the real Foghat we all know and love!
Not quite. It's missing a little something........Rod Price on lead guitar. Just not the same.
Rocking boogie blues best band in my book, and it's a very thick book.
Wow awesome. The 1977 live album was the greatest live album EVER recorded!!
Yes it is a great album. So great I had it on vinyl, cassette and 8track.
Jetster, it is incredible, but, UFO’s Strangers in the Night, is right up there next to it. Was at the show in Chicago, at the Amphitheater. But yeah, Foghat Live is just so fucking great. Been listening to it for 42 years now.
I definitely agree
LOVE FOGHAT!! I saw one of their last shows before the singer passed..
When did Dave pass?
Feb 2000
Absolutely righteous performance. I saw them live in Phoenix with Blue Oyster Cult and they were great. Great concert.
Great performance!
Lonesome Dove - one of the best voices in rock.
Craig MacGregor - Foghat's best bass player (by far).
Great song. Heavy hitting rock n roll. I saw them in Phoenix with Blue Oyster Cult. It was intense.
This is awesome.
Fukkin A - Hollywood Sportatorium was the scene of a lot of serious rock and roll - with drag racing right next door.
nidsaw u are so right no venue in the land can ever compare to the Hollywood snortatorium as we nicknamed it it was the best era of my life. thanks for all the great times at the snortatorium
MARAVILLOSOS, QUE GRAN GRUPO. SOBRE TODO LA VIEJA FORMACION,EXCELENTES
My first concert The Palace WTBY Ct. ....Dave came down jamming right in front of us then handed my girl his pick ....great first show .....70’s put out some kick ass bands that put on incredible shows ....most I paid was 22 bucks ...and we thought that was a lot ...✌️😎

Miss you Dave and Rod
JIMMY ROSE They both were great...RIP
Sadly missed. Couple of fine fellas, RIP.
I can't believe these guys have the balls to tour as Foghat without Lonesome Dave. He WAS THE MAN!!!!!!
Love this …
one of best british singers ever and as matter of fact worlds best toooooo
Angry people suck but they are the few...celebrate FOGHAT my brother!
GRANDFUNK RAILROAD MY ALL TIME BAND
i just love this song
In retrospect the best rock song of the 70s
What a jam!!!
Great show!! I was there....Had some great times at the old Sporto!!!
Mark Wallace the snortatorium was the best concert hall ever so much fun and all of the drugs booze and the girls girls girls
I saw them the year before at the Jai Alai Fronton in Miami. A smaller venue and an excellent show.
FOGhat; wear one!
Nick Jameson was on bass for some album cuts in the 1970s - studio bass player/producer.
My first concert in 1981 but it was in Philadelphia with Blue Oyster Cult, they were great!
yes it was jester777 YES IT WAS! I was there in '77 rockin and partying hard. Those were the days.
Great Old Video! Thanks for Sharing! Erik did a good job, but he wasn't no Rod Price! RIP Dave and Rod!
Not sure why 7 people chose to go thumbs down but I really feel sorry for them.
I saw them on the Zig Zag walk tour and they played Sarah Lee from the first album right in the middle of this!
Those were the days
Long Beach Arena (original. Torn down years ago) early 70's. Intro band for I forget who the headliner was. These guys stole the show! Lonesome Dave doing his trademark rock'n back and forth.
What a band guitars from Valhalla
Saw em in 78
Thats so kool man
That's some mighty fine picking and a singing
That cockeye-square guitar-sideburns combo is ridiculous.. but it works
Awesome
Holy f'n gig clothes. hahaha Love this tune and the place was on fire.
Grande época!
Miss Ya Lonesome Dave......................
Excellent!
❤
Wow, Hollywood Sportatorium.....Should be hallowed ground not a shopping plaza like it is today. Lots of great memories, what a PITA it was to get to and a bigger PITA to leave after a concert. I just got my ass kicked & I love it! Damn I miss the 70's!
Ahhhhh the 70s
Lonesome Dave had a fine blues voice.
Lonesome Dave..So terribly missed.
great band....
Kids this is what we call rock and watch slide guitar on it hurts me too amazin
luv the square guitar'
Listening to those 70s jams but seeing those '80s outfits is causing cognitive dissonance. My brain hurts.
Can you believe they were an "opening" band for this concert! Unbelievable . . . they "opened" for Blue Oyster Cult on this tour. They blew the crowd away!
I would leave the venue if I had to go on after these guys.
They co-headlined. Whitford/ St. Holmes opened. And yes, BOC was a boring act after Foghat played. The energy was gone out of the building!
That's Erik Cartwright on lead guitar. I have a preference for the play of Rod Price, the original lead guitar player, but Erik is no slouch. Great song, great band.
Erik had some big shoes to fill and he did so admirably.
Omg no cellphones and people are actually cheering and interacting with lonesome dave. Wish i could been there in this time period
gotta remember rod price recorded about 7 leads for this in the studio and it was hard to reproduce that live with 2 guitarists
Love that bo didley style guitar
These guys opened for Blue Oyster Cult in Wendover, Nevada two weeks ago, and they kicked as much ass as they ever did in the 70s. Be sure to catch them if you get the chance!
pure f....ing metal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
God Damn...........that's killer!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ill take a check!
That was very clever of Dave to ad lib at the beginning "...... but I'll take a check"...... hilarious!
rock and roll yeah
Rock and f'n roll baby!
YEAH!!!! Derek Smalls on bass!!!!
Oh, hell YES!
WOW...
Just boys having fun. I wonder if they had any idea how phenomenal they were. Seems they didn't give a shit. I think they would have gone balls out if no one came to hear it. Fortunately they didn't have to
studio version entered Cashbox Sept 3, 1977
Lonesome Dave RIP
You were present in the live album?
Ever wonder why most bands today don't make live albums ( oops, sorry they don't have those any more ). It's beacuse they SUCK and can't play live and couldn't sell a live album, cassette, disc or download- period. Think back on how many great live albums are from the 60's, 70's and even the 80's.
I saw these guys at Alex Cooley's Electric Ballroom in Atlanta eons ago....Slow Ride
@muddywood Is Craig MacGregor on the bass
gotta be the deadest, most bored audience I've ever seen - how do you not go crazy to Foghat?
1981 I was 1 going on 2
Rock and Roll
@whitewraithe Don't forget about Kiss Live.
What is the "cigar box" guitar Dave always played?
+mnpd3 hi i read its a gibson hes rarely seen playing anything else. rock on ed
I believe it was a nod/tribute to Bo Diddley who sometimes played one.
AGREED!!!!
ROCK AND FUCKIN' ROLL!!!
@ChuckieInMT
