Bought mine at Home Depot 10 years ago for $25 because no one was buying them. Will never cook a turkey in the oven again because this does so well. Cooked a 19 pound bird at 49 degree outside temperature with a 12 mph wind in 3 1/2 hours. Cooks ribs very well also. Happy Holidays.
Just got the newer version from Walmart. It was on sale for their early Black Friday deals. I’m looking forward to using this over the masterbuilt fryer that I’ve used for several years.
Love it, got it for $40 on OfferUp. Was used a couple times. I’ve done a whole duck and turkey but I’ve only had it a month. Both turned out excellent. I do a non sugar rub on and under the skin. No injecting. Not sure I’ll try ribs but I’m eyeballing that drumstick rack..,
If you use cooking twine and truss the bird you won’t have to worry about the legs and wings touching the side of the cooker If you inject it before cooking it stays moist and has a really good flavor.
Recently cooked while 6.5 pound chicken and it took 2 hours 45 minutes. Outside temp was 55°, wind about 10mph. Burner on high but did not put the lid on except for last 20 minutes. Cooking a 16lb turkey today and hoping no more than 4 hours.
Hmm, I also made a turkey in a Weber. I had to reheat it cause we didn't finish it the first time. When I reheated it, the skin looked similar to dry brined pork skin. Any idea if you can get it that crispy? What was left is about 5lbs which I put in the oven at 430F for half an hour then lowered it to 320F for 75 minutes. I did wet brine it before the initial cook. Can you get it even crispier than this in your fryer?
Great videos. I've cooked so many turkeys on my big easy! Lately, I've heard people mention they cook with the breast down. They say the temperature is higher on the big easy top end so they cook breast down in the lower temp and the dark meat (leg thigh quarters) in the higher temp. Have you heard about this or tried it?
Thank you, I have never tried it, I loaned the big easy out once and they did it that way, the juices didnt come out, it fill up inside and they had to finish it in the oven. I am sure its possible, but we have zero complaints doing this way, as we have for many years, I think this may be the 7th year using a big easy!
I am having an issue with the bottom part of my Big Easy not cooking as fast as the top. Basically the top(breast) of my turkey is at 165 degrees and the lower( thighs and drum sticks) are only 150. What am I doing wrong? (The skin and flavor are excellent otherwise, but I have to over cook it. I tried breast down with better results, but no one else seems to have to do that. )
are you pre heating it? I put the turkey in there without any pre heating of the unit. I cant say that I have noticed that with mine, is the fire uniform around inside?
You have to crack the propane valve open slower. If you just open it up fast the it produces a shorter flame at the burner. This is a safety feature at the regulator. Remember crack open valve you get the right height of flame at the burner. Happy thanksgiving and good luck 🤞.

First time I used mine last year was for ribs. I made pork jerky with mine. Cooked a little long.

Ive had mine for 11 years and as usual it fired up on th first click. I love my BIG EASY!!
Just got one. They also recommended wiping it down with oil after cleanup to prevent rusting
I just got one as well. It’s show time baby
well, you need to season it with oil
Just brought one
Fun! Season it, and let me know how the turkey is!

Great ideas, we love how moist it is currently, I need to try injecting.

Must have been the wind, or its not burning right, on high mine cooks small birds like that fast.

Last year I did 2 hours for a 19lb bird. I was in Dallas, but it wasn't hot there.

You keep it on high the whole fry?
Yep
How much propane does it use? I only have 1 20lb cylinder and was wondering if I should get a second one.
One is more than enough to cook a turkey. If its full, I have not tested how long it will run on one tank.
@ perfect, that makes it easier than I thought it would when I got mine last week. Thanks for responding!
Does a 17.5 fit in the airfryer
Yes, I have at least two other videos showing a 22-24lb turkey, this one is over 16lbs
Buy the open cage for it. Its alot easier to put the turkey/chicken in and out of it.
Oh? Ill have to look into that. Thanks!
$99 at Tractor Supply…they stock the newer model..right know for 2024 November

Sorry bit that looks has mildew on it
haha, but it doesnt taste like it! seasoning
Oil- less means no fuel or gas. How do you explain the propane?
Uhh, no, thats not how it works.
Hahaha
It’s oil less, not fuel less.
JUST GOT ONE TODAY I AM GOING TO TRY IT WITH A CHICKEN BEER CAN STAND
That should work I suppose, but the basket is pretty easy also
Pro tip. Use duck fat spray if the skin starts charring too early
