Years ago in the 60's my cousin donated his 3 ft. Camon alligator to the Stockton zoo.

Stockton did a exceptional job preserving those downtown buildings. Only difference now 40+ / 50 years later, those sidewalks are loaded with filth and youll be lucky to cross downtown without being harrassed by mentally ill homeless.

I'm a child of the 60s and lived in Stockton. My mom had 11 children and so did her younger sister. So we had a lot of good memories and so much fun as children, you really couldn't have had a better place to go to.
Mickey Groves even had amusement rides for us smaller kid's. Can you imagine how long our day was? Actually it was just having fun. Boat ride, train ride, Octopus, Tilt-a-whirl, scrambler, even a small kid's rollar coaster which I remember not wanting to ride it cuz it was too scary for me. I eventually grew into it. It was so fun!
Our families have made a lot of great memories. My aunt and my mom have recently passed away. 7 years my mother and 2 years my auntie, her sister. Fortunately, only about 4 to 6 cousins have also died. It's part of our life here on this planet earth we call home.

My family was pretty well known back then. Not all good reasons. This footage shows me what it used to look like when they were still kickin. So cool how we can look back on history like this.

    Was that Mickey Grove?

    Lots of landmark I recognized.
    Mickey Grove zoo
    Port of Stockton
Downtown the corner street of the old court house.
Stockton airport with hwy 99 where the planes would land from the east.
No striper limit rule n using white bucktail lure
Not sure about the Marina. Could be paradise point or windmill cove marina.
Overall pretty cool image as though I'm a time traveler. I would tell all that I loved to the year that they would die.

My father was a Stockton CHP officer during that time. We knew the caretakers well. My sisters and I probably played with that jaguar as a cub (photo album proof). My father was the officer who did the welfare check on Mr Mickey and found him deceased. Loved that little zoo.

Would you have any footage from the bicentennial parade that was held downtown? My mother had a large girl scout troop and we all participated in the parade

So sad to see these animals locked up in cages. Now they just need to close to the zoo to let the birds be free and in the wild. How would you like to be locked up in the cage. And the poor polor bears sitting in 100 degree weather.
