- Emma LeDoux will go down in Stockton history as one of the most villainous women who was known for scamming men of their money and marrying men and taking at least two of them out for life insurance. Husband number 2, Albert McVicker, was estranged from Emma while she married Eugene LeDoux. She didn't bother to divorce Albert but decided to take him out in a wicked plot.
Jeff takes this episode of History Hunters to the train station where this explosive story broke out on March 24, 1906, the California House where the homicide took place and show you the trunk she used to store his body. The trunk is in the Haggin Museum which is also where many numerous Yosemite paintings of Alfred Bierstadt are on display.
The episode ends at the Stockton Rural Cemetery to visit the grave of San Joaquin Sheriff Walter "Frank" Sibley who arrested Emma two days after the discovery of the body in the trunk.

The entire story from start to finish. So well done, Jeff. The citizens of Stockton are very lucky to have Mr Howard at the museum.
He’s a great guy! We appreciate you telling us!
Thanks again
As always well done. Will look for William Williams grave down here in bisbee's evergreen cemetery. Keep em coming. Very informative & entertaining.
We love your videos...never once have you disrespected anyone or story. Love it when Sarah comes along.
I worked for one of the Holt companies. Every time that I traveled to Stockton to go to the office there always were pictures of what Mr. Holt had done for the community and for the country. It was an honor to have been part of that legacy. Your ability to articulate the stories that you educate us on is always very refreshing and appreciated. And as always, I look forward to next week's episode.
Thank you again for your kind words. Goin for our walk, have coffee ready and jump start with History Hunters. Bless u and yours sir.
Jeff would you fufill my suggestion by visiting the grave of John philip sousa please and you are the sweetest kindest most caring guy on youtube ♥️♥️
In the late 70’s early 80’s my mom, sister and I use to take the Amtrak from Fresno to Stockton. We probably walked over the very spot where the trunk was found. My aunt took us to that museum as children. My cousin had told us this story as kids I thought he was trying to scare us.
Stockton was and still is a rough place. I’ve had two cousins murdered there.
She should have been called Emma La Crackhead lol.
I’ll have to visit Find A Grave to see the headstones and comments left.
Jeff, another great video thank you for your research 🧐! I visited find a grave her grave is unmarked but Ron with Faces of the Forgotten took a picture of site.
We are sorry for your loss.
@@nicholaswinebrenner5164 thank you for your kind words
Stockton has had its share of violence. I also remember the Cleveland Elementary school shooting. Thank you for always taking us along.
Isn’t that when Michael Jackson came shortly after?
Fascinating and yet sad. Wonder what would have happened if she had remembered to place a shipping label on the trunk? Also wonder, how many crimes like this were committed and never discovered. Thanks for the video and your work uncovering this story.
Any "debate" as to whether he was alive or dead when jammed into that trunk is rendered moot by all the blood. Dead bodies don't bleed. He was undoubtedly unconscious due to the morphine, but not dead... yet. He would have died from suffocation which would have come rather quickly after being contorted into such a small space. It would have made a healthy person unable to breathe. Add morphine to the picture, which slows the respiratory rate, and death would occur quickly. Considering his plight, the morphine was a blessing.
Love the before/after pictures and your amazingly perfect placement of them! Another great episode, Jeff, thanks!
Old trees in pictures in a "Then and Now" theme is also AWESOME! California has OLD OLD trees!
Sunday is always better with History Hunters!
Agreed 😊
Also love seeing small museums. Local history is the hardest to preserve because it changes frequently and people don’t think it matters but then fifty years out, nobody is alive to remember and historians have no resources. Keep it up Jeff & Sarah!
Emma was quite notorious for years in that area after that 1906 incident. She was a swindler long before the murder and thereafter attempted to carry on her scurrilous behavior. Jeff you really pick very interesting subjects of focus. The infamous LeDoux is no exception.
Sad story, but enjoyed the museum. Thanks Jeff!
Good job Jeff on this one ! THANK you for your work . I look forward to every Sunday. THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA.....
Another Sunday with Jeff. Very good video. What an evil woman, should never have been released from prison.
Oh, yes, they should have left that beautiful building! As always, fascinating TRUE story.......it's unreal what some people are capable of......the Now and Then photos are always so cool....thanks for taking the time to add this to your videos. What a woman!
My thoughts exactly! She was a piece of work as the saying goes!
Thank you for today's episode. It was fascinating to get a glimpse of the Stockton museum. Emma LeDoux did not have to resort to the crime she committed. Even if there was not the surveillance or D.N.A. capability we have today, how she thought she could get away with that heinous crime is incredible.
Always amazes me how one person can effect the lives of so many. I remember your jail video. Your right, it was a beautiful building.
I’ve been going to that museum since I was a kid. Born and raised in Stockton. Great episode. Thank you Jeff
Very cool! Thank you for the comment!
@@jbenziggy There used to be an Egyptian Mummy at the Haggin, and the story was it had a bullet in its head. It was actually a scarab, and there was an X-ray to show it.
What we always loved about our California home is some of the fascinating history! Having worked for the California Department of Corrections we learned about some of the more infamous. The older penitentiaries have some great stories.
Thank you Jeff for the weekly reminders of home. Your biggest Tennessee (formerly California) fans!♥️
Good to hear from you guys again. The weather you see in this video is the same as we have today in central California! Hills you folks are doing well!!!
Thanks, Jeff that was very interesting☕️ makes me wanna go to the Haggin Museum.
I am not only a fan of your channel, but also Ron’s Faces of the Forgotten channel as well. I think you two would be good friends! Both of you do great work on your videos!
Never had the pleasure to meet him. Nobody like him has reached out to me to collaborate.
I really like the way you report the facts of our history. Like I have told you previously that I grew up in California, raised in Mariposa, and I really enjoy history facts. Thank you.
Very cool! Thanks!
I graduated from MCHS in 86 🐻
@@dstu322 I graduated spring Hill in 1984. You may have known my sister. Katherine Clara Clemmer. She married Tom Hoffman
I learn so much history from your channel. Thank you for all the work you do presenting these fascinating glimpses into the past. You and Sarah are my favorite channel.
Wonderfully detailed episode describing a dark moment in Stockton history. Please continue with the before and after photos when possible. They add so much to the texture of the stories. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! Will do!
Sent to fast Jeff good work you are up to 130,000 subscribers . Looking back in time ( just like you do ) I remember when you were at 26,000 subs !
Fascinating story! That trunk - how many times throughout history have trunks been used to conceal bodies? Great episode Jeff! Cheers!
Haven't thought about Emma since I was on a True crime binge around 95.
You do keep it interesting. Thanks Jeff
Wow, Sibley is a name associated with a small lakeside resort near our Farmstead in ND. When doing a bit of research on our local name, I discovered a huge trove of information on the man's life.---I was pleased to see that the museum guard recognized you and let you in. My Mom & I had a similar experience at the Santa Maria Court when Micheal Jackson was on trial. We stopped to take photos to send to one of Mom's cousins in ND, & the guard on weekend duty casually asked us our business. On hearing we were ND natives, he acknowledged his own ND roots & opened up to let us step inside for two quick photos!---Great trip for us today, thanx for everything Jeff.
The story is what makes History come to life! Thanks for another great video Jeff.
I watch Faces of the Forgotten too, love both of your channels. Always great content! Thanks for covering this interesting but bizarre story!
I can only imagine the untold ghost stories from the hotel room. 👻😲
Thanks for this story. Stockton has always captivated my curiosity for many different reasons. Local historians are rare these days.
Enjoyed seeing you on Channel 31 this morning. Finding you on UA-cam tube is even better. I so remember picking up my grandparents at the train station when I was younger. To see the jail knocked down was horrible I so wish they’d leave history alone. Thank you for the memories.
Welcome! It was fun doing the morning with Cody! Hope you enjoy what I’ve produced!
@@jbenziggy Yes, I enjoy the old history so much. I'm watching your Lodi segment now. Interesting seeing the Haggin Museum as I had girlfriends that use to work there. Moving out of Stockton and going onto the outskirts of the area marring and buying land in the Lodi area love hearing anything about that area also. Worked up in Sutter Creek I found friendly ghost visits so if you have anything in that area I would enjoy too. Now living over in the Nevada City area there is a lot of history over here also. I know you are busy and will check all your video's out....thank you again.
Jeff, you are one of the best content producers on UA-cam.
I've watched the channel for years. You have always taught me something every Sunday. Please don't stop entertaining me and teaching me history. I'm eternally grateful.
Wow you're a brave man walking on that overpass, very familiar with that area
It’s a very rough area that’s for sure.
Yay I’m early for once as I’m up sick with IBS. It’s 1.15am Monday morning here.
Watching video now, I know you won’t disappoint. ❤Jodie 🇦🇺
It was in the paper when they told the story and announced the trunk was going to be displayed at the museum. Kelly`s a friend of ours nice to see him guest on your video.
Not ghosts; just demons of an evil woman.
Jeff, another amazing and historic filled video! I had no idea about Emma LeDoux and the people surrounding her. Your presentation was so well done.
And thank you for the shout out at the end. You’re very welcome, and I look forward continuing to contribute to your channel in the future.
Awesome! You must know we’re not only appreciate your support and dedication to our channel but also the financial contributions! Gas is so expensive in California as you know if you live here. Thank you! You are a good man.!
Another interesting story. Perfect for a rainy Sunday and a cup of coffee. Thank you, Jeff.
Thanks! It’s also overcast and cloudy here in Central California!
What a wild story!! It’s amazing, some parts of Stockton still look nice. I subscribed to Spirits of downtown Stockton after seeing this awaiting the ghost episode. Thanks again Jeff.
Jeff, another amazing story and visit to a city that in recent years has been poorly portrayed due to poverty and gang activity. Thank you for taking us there to hear about its incredible history. You should be named ambassador of the Central Valley. Thank God for the history tellers!
Like you said Jeff, she probably killed more people than we knew about. She doesn't seem like a person with a conscious. Wicked for certain. Thank you for the history lesson and stay safe.
Excellent show Jeff. I love the format, before & after shot of the jail, the music, especially at the end. I get a sneaking suspicion more will come with the haunting... Creepy, fascinating, tragic, extreme and well presented. All the great ingredients for a terrific show. Hope to see you in CA. Hi to Sarah. David
What an interesting story. She seems a bit cold hearted, doesn't she? Great story, and so well told. Thanks Jeff...
Yes, she was a classic example of a psychopath! Only she mattered!
As usual, another great historical video of long forgotten characters in the history of California. Now that I have seen the Stockton Museum in your video, I am going to visit the next time I am up that way. Thanks for the video.
There was so much more I didn’t show in my video so I hope you do get to visit the museum! It’s an interesting place!
I agree,I don't understand why we keep tearing down the nice historic buildings and replacing them with garbage, like that old jail and penn station and all the rest of the ones that have been torn down.
It could be that the building became too dangerous but taking down that very solid courthouse was criminal in my opinion! The wrecking ball had trouble taking it down. It was one of the most gorgeous court houses in California!
Wow fascinating but sad story for a rainy Sunday. Well done Jeff! Now we want to visit the museum. 😊
Happy Sunday Jeff and Sarah still love the channel and all the hard you do
Good job on the story. When you first mentioned the body in the trunk, and a woman being involved , I thought it was about Winnie Ruth Judd , but I think she was from Arizona . Her case involved a trunk and a train station too. I read a book about her a long time ago. Thanks for sharing your video. ❤
I think this is a sign there ought to be a Faces of the Forgotten/History Hunters collaboration some day! Fascinating story, it almost seems like she had an uncanny ability to hypnotize her victims.
I can not wait till he shows the movie!!!
Hey Jeff. Just saw your video on folks comments, some great, some very bad. Well for what its worth, I love your channel. Im in Scotland so getting to see all the different places and stories of people from the past is bloody brilliant. You have a nice voice and hey, yer hair is fab. Dont be discouraged by people who clearly get some pleasure from their terrible nasty comments. Oh and for what its worth, I watch Fotf, also.. take it as a huge compliment, you both have individuality and are fab in your own way. There's room for all!! Take care, love to Sarah
Love the comment, Linda! And from Scotland! Thank you for the nice feedback and encouragement! Blessings!
I remember hearing about this case on a true crime channel when I first started watching UA-cam about ten years ago. Thanks for doing this one. Excellent video!
We live 20 minutes from the museum! I did see Ron’s episode not too long ago, but yours is just as good Jeff! Sorry about that😂. We are going to go visit that museum. Not sure if I want to see the trunk though. The artwork looks amazing. Again, a great episode and I always enjoy them. Thank you so much Jeff!-Nina
Love this museum!❤
Once again a well presented story, thank you so much .
Another great episode, Jeff! Thanks for posting and doing all the research for it.
Fascinating video. I always get a pleasant education. Never too old to learn about history. Thank you for another great one. Blessings.
Great episode Jeff. What a crazy story!
Another amazing video Jeff. Hope you are well and doing great. Thank you for all you do! Happiness is mothing more than having something to look forward to. Thank you.
I have seen this story before on other videos but as usual you present the story on spot and in a professional manner. Thanks, Jeff.
That was a great video! Very interesting. Can't wait to see the video of Emma Ledoux apartment when it comes out! Thanks Jeff! Love watching your videos!!!! 28:37
Very interesting video Jeff. Thanks again for another great video .
Thanks Sarah and JEFF 😊
Fascinating presentation Jeff, thank you.
Another great video Jeff! There's so much history in the valley to learn about! Thank you, Jim Bearden in Hayward California.
Fascinating story, Jeff!
wow, great story - I hadn't heard that story. Thank you for sharing, Jeff!!!
Fascinating and creepy!! Great video!!!!
Museums are so interesting! Enjoyed the video!
Fascinating story. Well done Jeff!
Great video Jeff and very sad situation for what she did to her husband. Thanks for sharing.
I had never heard of that loathsome individual. I can't believe she was paroled! She certainly had not been reformed while in prison. Her death plot, of that poor, unsuspecting man, seems bizarre, to say the least. Let's hope he was unconscious, during his horrific ordeal...❤️🩹 The curator of the museum was spectacular. I'm looking forward to that video he'll be putting out... Thanks again, Jeff, for this engrossing episode, your research, the historic pics, and on the ground, top-notch coverage.
🏡🙏🏻🏚👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks for another interesting episode
Awesome video Jeff! Thank you!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for the positive comment!
I hate to double post but I watched the Faces of the Forgotten episode of Emma. Your history’s research was much better and so was how you told the story. Just wanted to say you get a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review from my wife and myself!
Fantastic! I love all those stars! Bless you and your wife!
Hello Jeff, Thanks for sharing this story on Stockton and the history. Have a wonderful day.
Great video. Enjoy the history. Appreciate the effort and time put in to bring us this information. we love the Haggin museum and had seen the trunk...really enjoyed learning more about it.
Thanks for another interesting story!
The Trunk Murder was an interesting story....but your video just goes to show all the interesting stories you can find in local museums!
That place is amazing! I need to go back! How are you doing?
Awesome video! Love the museum. I follow Ron on Faces of the Forgotten, both were excellently done ❤
And both of them got the research from my blog and book, Stories of the Forgotten which predates them both. --
I didn’t realize that fake news had such long history.
It’s were that stink comes from lol.
ur silly....😮
Love all your videos Jeff! Thank you.
I appreciate that! Thank you!
Great video, many thanks!
Glad you liked it! Thanks!
Another great video, Jeff!! Thank you!!
My pleasure! Thank you, Brent!

Thanks for watching!
Nice work Jeff !!! Great video !!!
Thanks 👍
WOW!!! Another GR8 HH vid!!! Thnx again Jeff for all your hard work bringing the past to life! My old office was where the new train station is!!! So many of the old historic buildings are gone forever...Thnx for giving me my "fix" for the week! :) ~ Chris
That was very interesting. Thank you so much for taking the time.
My pleasure! Thanks for your time viewing!
Great one Jeff. I watch Ron and he has great stories also.
Such a tragic and disturbing story Jeff, thanks for your research in this curious video. It always amazes me when 6,300 people have viewed your video with only 250 comments... You need these comments to increase the algorithms so more people will be drawn to your channel. I've been to the grounds that surround the museum but it was never opened for public view. Great presentation again, bless you & Sarah!
Very informative and enjoyable Jeff. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks, Susan!
Awesome video Jeff! Never knew this story before, Thanks for the great details and time you put in this!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks, Brent!
Absolutely fascinating! Bravo my friend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you! Cheers!
Another great history video Jeff, well done!
Thanks again!
