Not gonna lie, of all the restoration videos I’ve seen, this controller was among the nastiest looking prior to disassembly. You did a phenomenal job restoring it.
This letter is not a Japanese text written by a Japanese person. The letter has prominent features of hiragana and kanji writing styles commonly used by foreigners who are not Japanese speakers. The sentence structure also shows features that are not often used in colloquial Japanese, so perhaps a non-Japanese transcribed the machine-translated Japanese. Just as I am now doing machine translation lol. Or perhaps the letter was written by someone studying Japanese.

I've never seen this GameCube keyboard controller before as I'm not from Japan, but it's satisfying to see this controller restored back to its original condition.
@@potatochobit I was 14 when Phantasy star online came out on the Gamecube. I remember I had that game, Zelda Wind Waker with the Promo CD that came with Ocarina of Time and Majora's mask and Luigi's Mansion as my initial games. Never knew there was a GC Keyboard until today.
Man this thing doesn't look super comfortable but I think with some time you can easily become accustomed to it. Great job on giving it another lifetime!
Just a little suggestion: when you put screws back into plastic, you should always turn them counter clockwise slowly until they click into the threading that’s already there, then screw them in. It makes it way less likely that you’ll strip the plastic.
If I remember correctly, this controller was made to be used with Phantasy Star Online for the Gamecube, which had a text chat function, ergo the full keyboard. Also good god, what hell had this controller endured to be that filthy? The only thing I can think of is being previously owned by a Japanese shut-in.

I bought this controller with the box and everything for a bit over $200 a couple years ago to play PSO on a private server on my cube. It’s a great controller, the keys are just meant for small teenager Japanese hands so it’s a bit hard sometimes to type. Ty for restoring this one.
You could use Isopropyl Alcohol or electric contact cleaner on the circuit board and analog controller sticks. It would work just as fine on the keyboard membrane too. The sonic cleaner is fine, but some soapy warm water and a soft brush would've been slightly more effective. Overall the controller was 100x better than the state it came in.
I tried this keyboard controller once and it was a bit uncomfortable bc of the size and weight but for todays standards it's actually normal, you are used to holding things like switch, tablets, steam deck, etc but back then it was kind of weird 😅
I am Japanese. It is written this way in a child's handwriting. "Thank you very much. This is a great channel on youtube that I recommend to everyone." 😄
i loved this video in the future, i highly recommend applying a small amount of lubricant to the controller's stickboxes after they are swarmed with dust and hair like that. the factory lubricant completely gets eaten, so for proper working conditions and longevity of the controller, it's best to apply it again. it only needs a tiny bit.
