a lot of these restoration channels are fake, but yours don't seem to be - you don't ever have over the top ridiculous levels of damage, just naturally worn down over time usage damage, it's so satisfying.
Yeah, they say people damage things in order to fix them, but there's no end to naturally damaged game equipment. Plenty to work with, and the sounds are so satisfying.
The Wii was the first ever home console my parents bought for me after using my dad's old genesis for years. It makes me feel old that the controllers can be found yellowed now.
There's not much in this world more satisfying than those loud clicks when you put things back together all spotless and in perfect working order. Thank you for this upload and see you again soon.
I love watching you restore anything, but when you do electronics, it's like watching a doctor perform surgery because you're so delicate with everything.
Somehow, no matter how many years it's been, Super Mario Galaxy still surprises me every time I see it with how beautiful it looks, even by modern standards. And now you have a Wii and Wiimote that look just as beautiful, nice job!
Great art direction and lighting are much more important than high resolutions. I never got a chance to play Galxy but if it released today for the first time, I wouldn't bat an eye.
We got that one for my son when the Wii was new and it was one of those rare times that I not only didn't mind the sound of the game, but actively enjoyed hearing it. It's got a beautiful soundtrack.
Always remove the batteries from the Wii Mote when not using it. That way the batteries won't leak into the contacts. Put them back when you want to play Wii/GCN games and once you're finished, remove them at once. That's what happens when you don't remove the batteries a long time. I have a Zelda Wii Mote and a Golden Nunckuck and still works very well.
I have this broken 3ds, and whenever I think about it, I often think of your videos, and imagine how you would fix it. Your awesome man, keep up the good work.
This is actually lifesaving, my black remote stopped working out of nowhere last month. New ones might even cost €60 so hopefully I can follow your video. Thanks my dude
I bought a Wii a few years ago from Goodwill, and had to fix my controllers. It was fun, look forward to more repair videos. Congratulations on your subscription level. 👍
Of course, no video game console repair video would be complete without a restoration video on its controllers that it normally comes with out of its original box. Once again fantastic job on restoring the Wii Remote, and Nunchaku back to their proper, functioning states, with the Wii Remote being fully responsive again, and the Wii Nunchaku's button working properly once more! Also great to see the return of nickel-painting again especially the electric version! The Ducktor, and his world famous Isopropyl Alcohol being put to the test once more, and unsurprisingly worked his magic in restoring these controllers! I look forward to seeing what you'll bring in future restoration videos throughout 2023! :D Keep up the amazing work, Odd!
Thanks. Found a Wii in the trash. Controller had EXACTLY the same leaking battery damage (the same battery terminal broke off the board because of corrosion).. This helped a lot I managed to fix it! :)
Hi, Odd Tinkering. I just wanted to pop into your comments to let you know that I've been regularly watching (and rewatching) your content in the middle of the night as a calming ritual. I was involved with the Copenhagen shooting back in July, and have been waking up during the night with flashbacks and bouts of PTSD and your videos are some of the only things I've found are able to ground me after them due to them being so.... Down to earth? Palpable? The sounds of clicks and machines and you working resets my brain every time. So thank you for making these videos. I've enjoyed them for a long time prior to last summer, and have learned how to appreciate them even more after last summer. Thank you. Keep tinkering. Cheers from Denmark.
Another great video brother. Glad you and Ducktor were able to save those controllers, so you can enjoy your Wii. Thanks as always for sharing your projects with us. God bless. Rev. D.
Man, my fiancé and I have been watching/enjoying your content for so long. It even inspired me to learn more about electronics and how they function both physically and code wise. Keep doing what your doing you are such a UA-cam (context see RTGame)
Just fixed 2 Wii controllers thanks to this video! Had to remove the battery terminals because of corrosion. All cleaned up and working perfectly now. Love this channel! Thanks 😊
I've also restored my Wii, and belive me - your Wii Remote and the Nunchuck are not so dirty as mine was! I've bought those at the Second Hand Markt and it was in very, very bad condition. But anyway - I love to watching yours videos and I've learned much from yours videos! Good work! Stay save!
If i had the money and patience, I would send you my dead copy of Pokemon Silver so i can also LEARN how to soldering myself, this is why channels like YOURS exist, to learn, experience, and get good vibes
probably very easy to repair yourself. i used to make good money doing solderless battery replacements as a kid. just break the spotwelds off the battery and wrap a new one tightly between the old prongs with electrical tape. fixed dozens that way, never failed
I've started learning electronic and a friend gave a sac full of damaged wiimotes. "It's for practice but the first one you fix is mine". I actually fixed a wee numchuk myself because I was inspired by your videos :) it's cool to see you work on one now. and it made me super happy to see Mario Galaxy up there lmao
I remember being beyond excited when I woke up Christmas morning and my Grandma had bought my brother and I a wii to share. Many good memories made on that thing
I remember years ago somebody decided to smash open a battery with a rock and stuff this colour came out. I'm guessing it's one of the alternative chemistries Vs alkaline?
Yes, but even if the tabs break when you pry it apart, it will still hold together once you reinstall the screws. I’d say you should expect at least one to break.
Now this is how a refurbished console SHOULD BE, unlike DK Oldies. There's plenty of people making videos on how their consoles AREN'T cleaned to the level of detail that Odd Tinkering does.
ducktor pool is great! I always look forward to seeing his little bill getting brushed! This was another peaceful soothing video and your work is amazing.
The Wii controller (and console itself) was interesting because a lot of the fun came from people’s imaginations. The motion inputs were actually really limited and couldn’t recognize remotely complex movements, so it didn’t take much movement to do prompts. For example, if you played Wii tennis, the game only recognizes that you’re moving your wrist a bit. However, that didn’t stop people from treating it like an actual tennis racket. If people played the games in a way that the tech actually recognized then it would be boring, but people thought they had to stand up and swing their arms around wildly, which made it more fun for them. Nintendo basically sold the fantasy of having direct control of the game, and it became a sensation because people bought into it.
I saw your Wii restoration video on a computer and was so interested in this upcoming video that I subscribed on my phone account! I'm looking forward to future videos.
That's crazy, I have a Wii that works today. We stopped using it for an insane amount of time and we recently fixed it and it was in perfect condition. I don't understand how people can mess up their consoles and controllers this bad.

IIRC GameCube games don't even use the Wiimote.
@CalzoneManiac's Video Corner No, they don't, but if you want to start a GameCube game you need to use a Wiimote on Wii home menu to open it.
Is it the same way with Switch controllers?
@Scribble 🏳️🌈 ⃠ Um are you asking if you can use GameCube controllers on the home menu for the Switch, the answer is, yes.
I should have known that 5 years earlier. The Wii Controller of my sister and I "broke" because of a leaking battery...
In these uncertain times, we can all find comfort in the fact that if Odd Tinkering does anything Wii related, he plays Super Mario Galaxy afterwards.

You opened the wiimote so easily, I've struggled so badly when I was repairing mine. Those side latches are strong enough to break a spudger.
