Very informative. We recently obtained a new laptop with Windows 11 on it and I went through all your steps to make most changes, greatly appreciated! I'm an ex IT person so was easy to follow and understand, thanks!
As far as gaming mode it may or may not help it depends on too many variables. Game Mode gives top priority for your game - this is useful if you are running multiple software / processes at the same time - Where it will hurt game performance is if your game is relying on multiple software or processes running at the same time, if not, then it may actually improve performance - by how much, it depends - maybe on high-end systems barely noticeable, it might help more with lag and frame drops. It's best to keep the option OFF, if you have a powerful enough system and your game has decent enough frame rates and turn it on if needed, but the best thing that will give noticeable increases in performance is debloating the OS, and if you are an advanced user, dedicate a partition for gaming on a light version of the OS without all the bloat and installed apps that run in the background - this is what I do - I have 2 x Samsung 990 Pro 2TB, 1 for system and apps, another one dedicated only for games. and 1 Samsung 990 Pro 1TB dedicated for windows temp and cache.
Interesting video my friend and very informative to take into account. Now does anyone know where I can download it legally? I'm tired of going illegally hahahahaha
I've been using windows since the 90's. Whenever a new version of Windows comes out, everyone says it sucks hahaha! That being said...it usually does! Thanks for all the tips!
Yeah. It tends to follow the same trend. Every other major Windows release completely sucks. Windows 2000, XP, 7 and 10 were actually pretty solid out of the box. Windows ME, Windows Vista and Windows 8 were just terrible from day 1 and never really got much better.
XP was prolly that one and only time MS got things right from the start. 7 was good at launch as well, but it feels like a rectified version of Vista than a new Windows. I tried the most updated version of Vista before (SP2). Without any bloatware and with the proper drivers, it was actually a good OS imo. The problem was we already had 7 at that time so this improved and more stable Vista came too late. 8 was a curious OS. One big reason why people hated it was the GUI, which was clearly tailored for touch. MS was trying to go for a Windows that was for both PCs and touch devices. Imagine if they did it right.

Rich: Thanks for your sponsor providing inexpensive Windows licenses. I did this on a machine that originally had 7 installed & was eligible for free upgrade to 10 but ran into minor snag & owner said "forget it". When 7 expired she didn't want machine & sold to me & I put 10 on it but unactivated. Finally got it legit via your sponsor for a little over $16 (& although "unsupported hardware" got 11 on it through a workaround!). Thanks!
I don't see the issues people have with Windows 11. I was nervous when I upgraded from W10 to W11 on my 3 year old laptop after reading bad comments about it but upgrading was a breeze and it's been running sweet ever since plus it's not much different from Windows 10 anyway. I recently upgraded to 23H2 and it's still running great. I've also had the same positive experiences on my Wife's 2 month old laptop and the Gaming Desktop that I built 9 months ago using a combination of old and new parts. All I can add is that I do keep on top of PC maintenance so maybe that's the key to happy trouble free computing.
Never had any problems with Windows 11. I use it for Photoshop and large files processing, works like a charm. The only down point for me is the recommended section from the start menu. It's plain stupid that it cannot be deactivated or removed completely from start settings.
I heard those apps like Disney+ on the start menu are simply links to installers rather than the actual applications. The core isolation screen may not even appear if your PC doesnt support any memory settings. It would be a good idea to warn people about editing the registry you can do a lot of damage if you are not careful.

There is one tip i disagree a little, and don't recomend everyone doing it. On the power settings, if you have an AMD ryzen CPU you shouldn't mess around with the "best performance" mode and leave it "balanced". This is because AMD Cpus when well configured on the balanced power plan will adjust the CPU frequency dynamicaly and when your windows is doing light tasks it will actualy boost the frequency more on single core loads. If you have the best performance option toggled all cores of the CPUs will be more "awake" and thus even those who are not needed will still consume some power, leaving less availlable headroom for more Boosts when less cores are needed. Meaning that the balanced power mode is actualy realy good on Ryzen CPUs and even AMD recomends it for best all-round performance.
Great information! Not sure if its already been asked, but my windows 10 has that same context window, hate it! Will the same actions you show for windows 11 work with windows 10? thanks!
Xbox Game Bar is useful. It just makes my life easier‚ no ALT + Tab needed to change windows volume (or game volume) or to check the time. At the same time, I can use Performance Graph in games that don't work with MSI Afterburner and RTSS.
for those that do not want to use the registry hack, there is a SIMPLE workaround. hit SHIFT and then rightclick for menu and you get the full options list.

Good video, but timestamps would be useful for skipping the things we've already done. I've been really enjoying Linux for the last couple years, but so far I've found it impossible (at least with my hardware and my methods) to get the full latest Windows version of Scrivener to run. I have a method for running the 32 bit version of Scrivener, but unfortunately the makers of Scrivener have discontinued the 32 bit version, as they have migrated to QT 6. Now I can't get updates unless I run the 64 bit version, so here I am. Things like what this video covers and OOShutup11 makes that more tolerable.
some shortcuts for windows 11 (win + z | win + x open 2nd start | win + s open search bar | win + r open run command and | win + c opens your default app )
The context menu thing is revolutionary!! Is it possible to revert it by deleting the keyes, though? I'm enjoying it now, but I'm a little paranoid about being stuck with it 😅
I really enjoy Windows 11 overall simply because it has a more modern feel. That feels appropriate for me since PCs are expensive as hell. Ive had a few bugs and issues here and there but overall i've really enjoyed it.
another that helps is getting rid of window system sound by going right click on window search system sound open choose no sound and untick play window startup sound now you will never hear a bell sound everytime window open things.
A just got a new high end custom desktop PC (i7-14700k, 32GB DDR5, RTX 4080, 2TB Samsung 990 Pro M.2 SSD) and despite all the negativity out there about 11, its honestly not that bad. It supports Intel's P and E cores, able to run at super low CPU clock speeds smoothly for light tasks. Mine shoots up to a comfortable 5.4Ghz with the P cores while only at 27% CPU utilization while playing Planet Coaster on 4k max settings. Task Manager is more detailed but still intuitive and easy to use. And with the main Photos app for viewing your pictures, there's the simple Zoom To Fit option while having good picture resolution quality, probably does some good upscaling there... Things I'd like improved is giving back the Lock screen option (rather than just restart, shutdown, log out, or sleep). And when locked, it shows the last user. Control Panel is still there, no issues connecting wirelessly to my HP 6200 printer. I did have issues connecting my Xbox controller via Bluetooth 5.3, but I can use a USB 3.0 or USB C chord. My Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse for Windows 10 works fine with 11. Start up and Shutdown on my old Windows 11 which has a fast 2TB M.2 SSD is slower than my old Windows 10 which has a 1TB Samsung SATA SSD. Many programs actually run better on 11 since it and my RTX 4080 has AI.
Just like Android, now Windows comes with bloatware installed. On the start menu, not all the programs pinned are actually installed as a few are waiting to be installed with a click
Overall, I think Windows 11 is better than Windows 10 just for the UI alone. If only Microsoft just released Windows 10 with newer features and the modern UI, everyone would be happy. Such a shame they removed many useful and core functionality stuff in the process
having use windows 11 out of the box on a lg gram 2 in 1 laptop most of the time under tent mode, windows 11 crushwindows 10 in UI for touchscreen. Touch navigation is finally at least up to par now on windows 11, on 10 and before touch navi was such a disaster at least personally for me using windows 11 for none work item, windows 11 is great
Windows 11 lasted all of about 30 minutes on a new computer before I got fed up, wiped the disk and put WIn10 on it. I still had to manually install drivers as it was a fairly new processor and was more geared towards 11. But with all the crap 11 added and removed all the good stuff gone no reason to use it until MS get their sh*^ together (if ever).
The new context menu is so dumb, like if you want to make it stylized for the system, fine, but why create two of them? Just MIGRATE all functions from one place to the other. It feels that MS doesn't know how to work on a full system anymore, it's so weird. Yes, some versions before had aspects of previous but at least they were CONSISTENT
Oh yeah I must say I cannot believe some people dislike your T-shirt, I gave you a LIKE on this video especially for the T-Shirt 😂 Though I wouldn't necessarily fart, as it's hard to control your farts, but I usually step back and show my fist, because I don't like being hugs or even the thought of it - and I can't believe some people impose hugs, my body is my personal property, I do not like people stepping on my personal property, and even less I can do without hugs - words and actions to me mean more than fucking hugs - so yeah I love your T-Shirt concept, and I can promise I won't fart if someone attempts to hug me, they will instead get a verbal confirmation that I don't do that shit. I wish people would focus on your video and content and not make a fuss about your t-shirt.
Why do you recommend changing system power from balanced to high performance? I have a AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D and balanced is what they recommend. Just curious. Thanks.
Thx.. following along have a question.. at the Contect Menu step.. when creating the new keys do we need to berify both Keys are empty/blany or only the "InprocServer32" key.. or am I over thinking this step.
0:08 - Either you have very different comments than I normally see on Windows 11 videos, or this should have been "it's not gonna be by installing Linux" 🙃 (Linux bros, please please PLEASE keep letting us know you use Linux, it absolutely never gets insufferable)
Thanks for saying that! There are reasons I don't use Linux, and no amount of insufferable bragging is going to make me change my mind! The only time I will consider switching to Linux is if it somehow, through some horrific global collapse, becomes the only OS _actually available._ I have no desire to learn how to use a computer from the ground up at my age when I just wanna get shit done.

Thanks for the tip about restoring "some" of the context menu function, however I wish there were a permanent way to enable "Move To" and "Copy To" from previous Windows iterations. There is a registry hack, sure, but as soon as Microsoft updates Windows, that hack is disabled because the new registry key is wiped. I move huge files and "DnD" or "Ctrl-c/x" can result in heartache when, not if, it goes sideways because file manager is still unstable in Win 11--even after ~4 years. Why on Earth did Microsoft think that "Copy To" and "Move To" were something to remove? I loathe the file manager, menu, and context menu design of Win 11. That is why my new PC got rolled back to Windows 10 Pro and will stay Windows 10 Pro. I've been a member of the Microsoft Insider Program and Beta testing program for more years than I care to admit, and Win 11, to me, is akin to Windows ME. Heck, WIn 8 was better, out of the box.
maybe check out Winaero Tweaker, its a godsend. i use that instead of the registry things to alter the context menu. it also lets u choose different styles of startmenu etc, i believe CyberCPU Tech has a video talking about it

Awesome T-shirt dude 😂😂😂
Worth it just for the context menu fix alone. Now I need to get one of those shirts 'cause frankly, I'm unprofessional as fuck. 😁 Thanks!
Thank You for the Context Menu Tweak, I have always wondered how to fix that.
The context menu thing is revolutionary!! Is it possible to revert it by deleting the keyes, though? I'm enjoying it now, but I'm a little paranoid about being stuck with it 😅
Thanks for all your posting you have helped me immensely. .
Thank you! So happy you showed me how to get rid of the stupid context menu. Now I wish I could modify the start menu without a 3rd party software...
I really enjoy Windows 11 overall simply because it has a more modern feel. That feels appropriate for me since PCs are expensive as hell. Ive had a few bugs and issues here and there but overall i've really enjoyed it.
SOOO HAPPY THIS WORKED : ) Thank u
another that helps is getting rid of window system sound by going right click on window search system sound open choose no sound and untick play window startup sound now you will never hear a bell sound everytime window open things.
contex menu setting was good bro
I think your t-shirt is hilarious.
I don't use Antivirus for many years and the buitl-in Windows is good enough.
Really like the old context menu, thanks for the regedit tips!
nice one thanks
You are welcome
THanks for helping Me get rid of the right click menu.
❤I still use windows 7 and I am very satisfied
Just like Android, now Windows comes with bloatware installed. On the start menu, not all the programs pinned are actually installed as a few are waiting to be installed with a click
Works with the menu, thanks ;-)
Overall, I think Windows 11 is better than Windows 10 just for the UI alone. If only Microsoft just released Windows 10 with newer features and the modern UI, everyone would be happy. Such a shame they removed many useful and core functionality stuff in the process
having use windows 11 out of the box on a lg gram 2 in 1 laptop most of the time under tent mode, windows 11 crushwindows 10 in UI for touchscreen.
Touch navigation is finally at least up to par now on windows 11, on 10 and before touch navi was such a disaster
at least personally for me using windows 11 for none work item, windows 11 is great
The Modern UI was Windows 7, the ui in 10 and 11 are going back to windows 2.0...

Thanks so much for this, i just got a new gaming rig with Windows 11, This has helped me so mcuh
Great video thank you and Happy New Year
0:08 - Either you have very different comments than I normally see on Windows 11 videos, or this should have been "it's not gonna be by installing Linux" 🙃
(Linux bros, please please PLEASE keep letting us know you use Linux, it absolutely never gets insufferable)
@@theimaginatrix7625it sounds like you haven't tried a modern version of Linux where you can run from a flashdrive tbh...yes about 10 years ago Linux was far more finicky
The right click context menu is very helpful and useful indeed. I really hated the new one, thanks 👍 i subbed
Great video! 👍👍👍👍👍
Great video. Thanks from Canada.
Thanks for the old context menu! I missed it!
I like your channel Rich
@around minute 2:28 that uninstall is not actually uninstalling the application, it is just removing the entry!
Heck, WIn 8 was better, out of the box.
maybe check out Winaero Tweaker, its a godsend. i use that instead of the registry things to alter the context menu.
it also lets u choose different styles of startmenu etc, i believe CyberCPU Tech has a video talking about it
thanks for helping me fix menu😄
what you should have said is " and no it's not by installing Linux". Best performance does make the pC run hotter though.
well very few people install Linux.
great vid tbh
Appreciate it
I LOVE your channel!!!
