I had an '82 CM400 Custom that I bought back in 1991 for $600. I toured the East coast of the US during that summer, from NY to Miami, and the next summer I did the other direction in around 36 hours. I left the bike in a friend's yard and headed back to the UK. I didn't get another bike until the mid 2000s, first a ZZ-R 600 and then the ZZ-R 1000 (ZX-1100). I recently found out that they only got rid of my old Honda in 2010. Had some great times and great stories from that bike.
Looking at one of these, 7,700 miles on it and in good running shape. Only downside is it's missing the right side cover and maybe needs a carb clean which is super easy. God bless and thanks for the post.
Will buy a near mint -81 this friday for ca $1100.. Add a "normal" handlebar and mybe some bigger carbs to get the tourque up to Hawk-level. 18-teets sprocket in front to lower highway-rews. Sweet bike!
Hey so my husband died a month ago and he has this same bike. I am not much of a mechanic, but if you can give me any tips on these things please let me know.

Great bike! Got the same one, first bought by my grandfather in 1981! Enjoy it! Cheers.
Diego Mieres thank you. I will be uploading a restoration video that I did soon.

Nice bike brother. I have the same bike but it's blue. Easy to ride.
Looks like I’m gonna buy one for myself…hope you’re still enjoying yours!

I owned a 1981 Honda CMT 400 brand new. This is a bike I wish I would of kept. Someday maybe I’ll find a Blue one like I owned once.🤔
