    Thank you Andrew. The symptoms you described are the same as my 642 right side. I would like to rebuild the drive motor on the right side and film it. Since I rebuilt transmissions for over 25 years it should be no problem. But only if I can find the parts. I will of course film it and upload to my Repair playlist. Ill be sure to give you a shout out in the Video.

    I got those hard tires on my JD318E. While great on hard packed surfaces, they cripple the machine on anything loose. You basically give up all floatation. I was fortunate that the dealer took them back. Wouldn’t use them anywhere but a salvage yard.

    Good job, and finally, a man who uses a 'real' impact wrench. No more waiting for air to build up in a compressor,..and have to drag out air hose, making sure that there is no moisture in the air line's in cold weather especially.

    Hello everyone. One of my fathers friend has a 2004 Bobcat 553. The problem is that the engine shakes, vibrates so much on high, operating RPMs that the starter motor breaks down from it's holder. He already changed several parts around the engine (motor mounts, etc..) but we just can't figure it out. If any of you have any idea please let us know.

  • @JimsEquipmentShed
    @JimsEquipmentShed 6 років тому +2

    My takeuchi jammed up, but it wasn't the hydo part to the track motor, it was the gear set.
    No replacements, or parts availability for units over 15 years old.
    So I took it apart, removed the chunks, and filed the bent stuff out of the housing.
    Takeuchi was willing to sell me two new units (As the speeds wouldn't match what the current models ran at.)
    I passed as I'm not made of fucking money.

    • @AndrewCamarata
      @AndrewCamarata  6 років тому

      They available aftermarket? Or look for used? If not maybe make another part fit, or make the parts that are needed?

    • @JimsEquipmentShed
      @JimsEquipmentShed 6 років тому +2

      Andrew Camarata The planetary’s lost some teeth, and proceeded to bend up a few of the softer housing ring teeth.
      The oem no longer offered anything close, and my machine was just about worth the price of buying one track motor, much less two.
      So I would have popped for one, but I could’ve justify anything past that.
      None of the local shops worked on anything small, and I really couldn’t give up the machine to mail it around with out a timeline.
      I got it working, and sold it after I bought my kubota excavator. (The new owner was well aware of the defect, I showed him my videos on the track motor repair.)
      But it really shied me away from buying a Takeuchi in the future.

    Did you check your drive chains lately? I have a bobcat 773 with 6000 hours and took cover off to check oil level and my drive chains are so loose they touch the bottom of the chaincase. Bobcat said once they start slapping the chaincase its timeto replace them before they break and cause more damage. Im wondering if they can be replaced without removing the sprokets by maybe cutting them then tying the new chain to the old one and pull the old one out as the new one goes around the sproket. Instead of doing 10 times more work and removing axles and sprokets etc.

    Andrew, you are having a lot of trouble with these bobcat's how in the world are you having 2 drivemotors (on the tracked one) rebuilt within 2900 hours. Poclain drivemotors on the small sized "knikmops" seem to last 8000 hours or more. Even without changing the hydraulic oil every 1000 hours. And they have 4 of them. Greetings from a machinery machanic. If you ever have questions, feel free to send a message.

    Thanks Andrew. How many hours dose this loader have? I would say a drive pump is major. My JCB always pulls to one side just a bit. As you know I'm hoping to change it out this year for a tacked Kubota.

      Yes, I have a pickup sweeper that runs fine on this machine.

      Andrew Camarata that’s cool thanks. This would be my first machine I’m looking at a bobcat 743, I’ve a question about the operation of the sweeper if the attachment is operated by the right lever side to side can u drive forward and operate the sweeper at the same time or how does it work? Does it only spin when the lever is pushed to the side?

    • @AndrewCamarata

      Yeah, you can still drive with the lever moved to the side.

    Hey bud you still got this machine? I recently got one and just wanted to hear some feedback on it what your likes/dislikes are

      thealfaman12 No, I sold the thing broken, I was always fixing it, I liked it when it was working though. Get a Takeuchi TL8. It’s cheaper than trying to keep a bobcat brand machine running. You’ll get 10x the work done and it will make you money faster.
