May I recommend that each time you have a connector apart, that you put a little dielectric grease in it - it will prevent corrosion, and help to maintain good electrical contact in the future. Perhaps the machine needs to be reset to accept the new controller better. Again, a great video.
Andrew, When you took the new controller out of the box you said it looked used. Perhaps it was returned by another customer for the same intermittent problem you are having with it. If Bobcat retested it it may have tested good even though it has an intermittent problem. You may have been sold a returned controller.
Yes, $1500 buys NEW not reconditioned, a typical tactic used to clear old or obsolete parts instead of supplying new. Talk to Bobcat and get them to bring out another part and fit it Free of Charge or if you could bring the loader to them get them to prove otherwise.

I don't know why but for some reason I like watching these videos makes no sense to me. Seeing your father with you brought back a lot of memories. Here's some free advise say I love you as often as you can because any day could be the last my father was 59 when he passed my wife was 46 when she passed. I'm 45 right now and I'm not sure I told them I love them the last time we spoke well my wife I think I did before we went to sleep but I'm not 100% positive.

I work in a port where we have 2 Bobcat SkidSteers that go into the ship to clean in the ship and make it easier for the big crane. After 500 hours one had a stuck cylinder and a lot of electrical problems. Almost every day a service car from Bobcat is there. I think we will switch to Volvos now. We also have 2 Bobcat telescopic wheelloaders with each 3 tons capacity. They have a central grease pump for all grease fittings and after 1000 hours there is already a lot of wear and play in the bushings. But we also have a Volvo L110 also with central grease pump, it has 17.000 hours and there is no wear and nothing in it, engine running like on the first day.
my city has a modern industry park and an airport. we see many expensive farm vehicles and trucks by volvo, scania, MAN. the local companies know how to plan and budget. japan and south korea are all mountain. their durable, high-tech vehicles are good for andrew. i don't understand how any company can waste money on bad vehicles.
I own a 2010 acs/sjc S-300 2 speed Bobcat and after the 3000 hour mark it really began burning through lift and tilt actuators. Like every 200 hours of operation (always at inconvenient times - night snow pushing etc.) here in Canada they cost about $1,300each. So, after replacing the fourth actuator in less than 800 hours, I pulled the hydraulic controller right out of the machine the body that the actuators bolt into, capped all the connectors and bought a re-seal kit because was hydraulic oil was getting passed the seals and submerging the electric motors in the actuators causing pre-mature failure. It's somewhat of a nuisance job but the machine now runs great and I had it tested at my local bobcat dealer and discovered the hydraulic pump to running at 93% efficiency still. Your video has helped me with a new problem where the run screen get's confused and will ask me to enter a password while the machine is still running but the controls and the machine still work perfectly fine. I bought the $800 service manual the mechanics use and it's helpful but a video of a guy actually doing the work is night and day better. What tools work, what doesn't, what to avoid etc. At almost 3,900 hours I didn't know that side panel slides up and the computer for the machine sits behind. Thanks again. Awesome Video!

I am a construction supervisor and had a contractor with a CAT skid steer doing a large septic system for a school, It sounded terrible and sounded like it had never been greased. The owner said he does nothing for maintenance, not even changing the oil or grease it, and after two years he trades it in for a new one. He said the old ones are shipped to Mexico. He claims he gets the same price for trade no matter the condition. Thanks for the great video's.

I grew up on the Coast in Oregon. My play grounds were the mountains. Had much the same type of upbringing moved heavy logs around to roll down hills along with big boulders. Growing up in the country, I learned how to drive equipment and vehicles early working on my friends dairy farms during the summer. A great way to grow up. I have worked a lot with the Japanese in my work. I have the highest respect for their work ethics and attention to detail. Thanks for sharing.
When I had an addition put on the house, the excavator contractor had all Bobcat equipment. About every second or third day, it would be quiet outside. I would look out the window and the hood would be up on the equipment and the guy would have tools out doing something to it. I always wondered if most equipment broke down that often. His equipment looked fairly new also which made it seem odd.
My stepfather & his partner had a Bobcat skid steer on their large Iowa farming operation from the late 70's to the early 90's that I drove a ton, it was dead reliable, & almost never broke down. It was still running fine when they traded it away, & it left me with a soft spot for Bobcat machines. But, the numerous friends & acquaintances I have in the earth-moving, landscaping, & heavy equipment businesses all tell me that Bobcat & other USA-made equipment have taken a long decline in quality & reliability. Like Andrew, most serious, full time operators now favor foreign machines, like Kobelco, Hitachi, Yanmar, etc. One guy I know is a city heavy equipment maintenance supervisor in his early 60's. He was a die-hard Caterpillar man for thirty-plus years, until the city he works for refused to buy any more Cat machines, because the high frequency & high cost of repairs far exceeded other foreign makes & models. Nearly broke his heart.
Without troubleshooting skill the chances of fixing things are almost zero and you may add some extra problem to the things or systems you are trying to repair, this guy is a genius, he knows the working concept of so many, from cell phones to his ten wheeler dump truck, he is a great troubleshooter, great fixer, great worker and best of all great fearless person when it comes to fixing whatever things, no hesitation and no fear of impossible.
Andrew, YOU look like you are about 22 to 28. I find ALL of your videos refreshing compared to those that drop swears like they are going out of style. You have respect for everyone from what I have seen on a very good majority of your videos. Your dogs are cool dogs. I am an animal lover and enjoy watching how you treat every dog you come across as if it was your own dog. Keep up the videos young man. You don't slather your videos with stories of how so-and-so did this or that or the other thing or run down your family or friends. Just keep on keeping on. Good troubleshooting logic here. Electrical problems can be very difficult to fix. You have to think abstractly and it will determine the limits of your patience. Good job Andrew! Gonna have to get that code read by the dealer to find out what's going on or you might burn out the new controller.

Andrew, My son and I work together in North Louisiana, and we both enjoy watching your videos. I agree with you on Bobcats, and all computerized machines in general. My 2002 Bobcat 753G only has 700 hours, and it's always broke down. My 1968 Cat D7E, 1986 Cat D4E, and 1976 Cat 225 track hoe always run.. I run older computer free trucks also for less downtime and expense. My road truck is a 93 Peterbilt 379 with a Cat 3406b engine. My newest welding rig is a 1996 International 4700LP DT466 engine, 7 speed Spicer, 4wheel disc brakes. I've been pipelining over 50 years now, and highly recommend this truck.

I rented a bobcat " once " because my ditch witch loader was waiting for a part. The first 20 mins it broke. The rental company couldn't get the part and took it back. I'll never use a bobcat. I like your honesty and videos. Keep them coming.
I see a lot of comments suggesting sponsored equipment etc and I agree that Andrew has the goods to easily be sponsored. I also don’t disagree with other comments where there’s significant interest in watching someone diagnose, solve and repair problems themselves. Having my own skid steer (mostly personal use) made me quickly adapt and update my old school automotive knowledge for something that’s much more expensive to pay to repair. In Andrews case I believe a balance would be great for his channel that provides quite a dynamic of his business, life, love for dogs etc. Reliable equipment but not brand new so we still get to see the maintenance and periodic repair side of his business and he gets less frustration and down time. This is real life in all it’s sometimes frustrating glory that many of us can relate too. Great stuff Andrew.
One thing I have noticed from your videos on mechanical repair is that you think things thru logically and with good reasoning skills. I am constantly shocked at how many people today lack the ability to do that. Even many people with college degrees or technical degrees lack these skills. Success in life will always be found by those who can think and reason.

My friend just gave me an old M600 Bobcat .... It hasn't ran in over 22 years . It's has a gas , air cooled 25 or 30 Hp Wisconsin .I think it's a VH4D engine , the data tag is missing .I think I finally figured out the serial # to be a 495211205. I have to replace every hose on it including 90% of the steel lines . Just ordered a bunch of steel 1010 3/8 and 1/2 tubing , plus fittings . It gets expensive really quick . I did find the Bobcat parts breakdown and I got some books from Jensales . I know I should have walked away but as I was pulling the weeds and grass off of it and spraying all the frozen rusted up levers etc. Some of them broke lose like the steering levers etc.. I Pulled the plugs and shot some ACF-50 down the plug holes , Got the engine unstuck which actually seemed to be the clutch , then with battery power she turned over steady and easy . The clutches worked too. So I guess I got to excited about that and brought it home against my better judgement . Now in the process of disassembly , sandblasting and redoing everything . I have a budget set for it 5k . I hope this isn't unrealistic . of course that's with me doing all the work , blasting , bending , remove , replace , rebuild etc . . If it went to Bobcat it would be probably 50 or 60 k . no , I think they would junk it for sure . Anyway , Andrew if you read this let me know what you think . or anybody else . I can send you pictures of it . It looks really bad , but after looking at it close ,I think I can save it . Now with only 25 hp , probably not even enough power to push dirt , So I'll chaet and use my Backhoe to loosen it up first . But ,I just can't help myself . I bet Andrew could fix it and have it on the job the next day .
Chief119 did you have any luck with a response from the bigger companies. I did this for another you tuber I enjoy watching am curious if there is another route to take in helping people like Andrew with sponsors and such.
If you get a chance I would check ground for computer and anything going in and out of the control circuit for dirty or loose ground connections. Also would check total resistance of both solenoid circuits and see if one circuit has lower ohms than the other possibly intermittent ohm readings causing the computer to think something is wrong and tripping a fault. The likely hood that both computers are bad is rare. You might want to put the Bobcat in the garage where its warm so you can work on it better. If you have access to a megger or meg ohm tester it would be wise to disconnect everything electrical so as not to short anything out. Battery, computer, electronic devices,etc..
Listen to this man right here!! 2 computers bad? um probably not! When you removed the old one you could have inadvertently and very temporarily fixed an intermittent issue in the wire harness, ringing out continuity in a wire isn't the be all end all, the wire or more likely the wire's crimped connection to the Molex pin in the header could be breaking down once its put under DC load. AS he said, go to your heated garage and have someone help you troubleshoot: one guy operates the controls and you play around with those wire harness' and see if you can (re)duplicate the problem. Also, look up that fault code before you do anything and see what it means & spray those interconnects with contact cleaner after you confirm the failure.

In Louisiana most guys i know use John Deere 333's but i know some have Kabotas new holland, Case has a very great work history down here to try out Differentl skid loaders its not always the machine its how the dealer treats you after you purchase the equipment

I owned a takeuchi. They are fantastic machines. Very nice to operate. It never broke down. Only thing I ever had to do was change the tracks when they wore out. Your buddy is right. Take his advice and get one!
Nothing spells incompetence like the OEM misdiagnosing, replacing or for your case, mailing the wrong parts. I got hosed by Cummins. They diagnosed the ECM as faulty, replaced it and the problem was back a day later. That cost me just over $4000. Turns out it was the ABS module sending bad signals to it. No apologies, no acknowledgement of screwing up.I got totally shafted by the dealer and Cummins. Lesson learned, just because they're factory trained and make the product, it doesn't mean they know anything about it. I'm glad you able to diagnose it yourself. Bad ECM's are always the last resort and at times, a lucky guess.
Andrew, the company I work for has both a Takeuchi TL150 and aTL12. The TL150 is older machine but has had no problems at all, Takeuchi is very reliable. I run aTB260 mini-ex everyday and still no problems, it also has a Yanmar engine.

from my experience, CASE and KUBOTA skid steer, seem to never stop other then your general maintenance for them. They are a pain in the ass to repair when you have big hands and fingers. Good luck! and as always, great video!!!
Andrew can you talk about your 4Runner? I’m totally in agreement with one commenter from another video - I work, then come home to watch you work. It’s kind of soothing watching someone fix things instead of complaining. I’m sure that’s why you buy used equipment, because you’re not afraid or intimidated about the maintenance or repairs. I see Bobcats everywhere though, a shame they’re unreliable. Talk about the 4Runner!

11:33 "Why does this look like it's used?" I'm guessing maybe it was used. Someone else bought the controller, had this same issue, and send it back under warranty. They tested it, figured it seemed good, and re--sold it as new. Intermittent electrical problems are the worst.
He did the right thing first, he cross exchanged the joysticks and the fault stayed on the right joystick. That makes it clear it is the sensor or micro switch at the right joystick that has a temporary fault.
Greta video, slap a couple of neodymium magnets on your skidsteer somewhere, so you always have them to hold parts up when working on it. Good on you for fixing it instead of buying new.
My buddy has a Takeuchi and I love it. I have a Bobcat 753 that I picked up from a vineyard. It works ok and doesn’t break except for hoses and maintenance so I can’t justify a new machine. If I was looking now, I would love to find a Takeuchi. Good luck.
A meg ohm tester would stress the solenoid coils and possibly show a breakdown in the coil circuit. The solenoids might be OK but there could be a possible intermittent short in the wire harness at times. The Megger can stress the wire insulation and coil and show a fault if there is one. Intermittent problems are the hardest ones to solve as they only show up sometimes ....can be frustrating but solvable.
Get a Kubota SVL pilot controls not connected through a computer awesome power I have owned one for seven years just bought a new one Japanese machines are nice my first bobcat was a 1991 743b when I watch you running yours it really brings me back
$1500 for a $7 piece of aluminum and $1 of circuit boards. And it still breaks intermittently. Now I understand why you do NOT recommend Bobcat. Thank you for saving future me plenty of money.

Electronics have there place and have gotten better / more reliable over time, being a electronic part they are subject to fail, I personally like the non electronic control machines I can feel the bucket and boom better then the electronic pilot solenoid machines. Buy what you are confident and comfortable with and having good dealer support / parts availability is always a plus. Love your videos and what you do ! Take care Rich
Andrew takeuchi are excellent my local plant hire dealer use all takeuchi based in uk i own mini excavator tb260 and its excellent machine reliable and well made for sure its same with there engines made by yanmar there bullitproof
7:38 And this is the reason "Right to repair" has to be mandatory! I would bet the repair would something like $4 and an hour of work, but they put it in this "plastic" and you have to pay $1400 for whole new part! Anyway few days ago I repair my tumble drier (electricly dead) - it was $2 in the parts and about half a hour of work. If I'd called service it would be something like $350 or I could buy new one for $900. Thankfully there was classic PCB and I was able to repair it.
I have a Takeuchi TL12 track loader. No problems. Bought it for snowblower capability. Blower weighs 1400 lbs. I noticed you do not have a rotating head. A wonderful addition!!!!
I read where your dad is a very intelligent person and you now are also an intelligent person, great to have such impressive family members on one show or videos.
I remember having the same exact problem with a bobcat that was maybe a year old at the time, It would just randomly stop and have to turn it off and on to get it to work, I remember getting the codes and talking with bobcat, I think it was an easy fix like resetting the computer or maybe it just fixed itself, I can't remember but its unfortunate that they have issues because they are so nice to run when they are working.
Bought a 125 John deer skid loader contental flathead 4 cyl gas rebuild motor using for private rc track seems like a good machine fun to run it's like therapy. Like your videos.
Toured Gwinner, North Dakota in latter 60's. Melroe Bobcat began there. Years later I applied for machinist and found they were union so stayed in CA. Andrew seems to continue using Bobcats despite calling them junk. All there was back then scooping out the massive meischt in barn.
Hey Andrew. We have Takeuchi machines and they are mind-blowing. The quality, comfort, power and most importantly the serviceability of Takeuchi products are superb. We have also have a Takeuchi TB285 8.5 tonne excavator which has been excellent. In fact, now have a TB260 6 tonne excavator from Takeuchi coming in a few weeks. I do however see your frustration in using computer-controlled machines however when it comes to a brand as reliable as Takeuchi, I think you need to give it a try. With our first Takeuchi machine, we had it on demo for a bit and nothing failed on it. I wish you the best of look finding your new machines :)
Ben W I hear ya! I have a Tl250 loader and TB153fr you can’t beat this machines! I’ve put 6700 hours on the loader and 3400 hours on the excavator! These things are tanks very strong and reliable!
You're wrong. Have worked in an industrial sensor manufacturing facility as an engineer...that potting is for keeping out water. Look at the location of the computer! I bet it gets wet all the time. If you have the patience, you can burn potting compound off with a heat gun and exacto blade. You can shave it off under heat. Many times the PCB is coated in a conformal coating compound (think slippery silicone film) to prevent the potting from shearing components off the board as it dries and shrinks. As you get closer to the PCB, sometimes the potting compound will lift right off. Sometimes.
@@davec.3198 He is absolutely right! They fill it with black epoxy so you can't fix it and have to pay Bobcat $1400. You don't need to fill the can with black epoxy to waterproof it ffs.
@@pbrstreetgang2489 And you belive it is just black epoxy that prevents your average bobcat owner from diagnosing a bad component on a PCB? You have got to be kidding. Look at all industrial and OHV equipment. All potted. Fills all voids. It's cheap. Prevents moisture intrusion.
Ran a Takeuchi TL140 for 3 years in landscaping. Machine was neglected, (I wasn’t allowed to do anything to service it)poorly maintained, and was bought used from a rental company. Amazingly it never broke down while I was there except for a dead battery. My only issue with it was it was a really rough ride. After about 2 hours of use you would get some machine fatigue from all the banging around. I’m sure they have fixed that in the newer machines.
Great video! The amount of stuff that just rolls right off you back is amazing!!!! I do like that you rage quite bobcat after a fair trial!!! Use what works and pays the bills! Buy American if it is a comparable product......otherwise, buy what works! Maybe manufacturers will get the hint!

Love watching you vids. I do the same logical elimination stuff all the time. And agree about Yanmar reliablilty. We've had a little SV08-1 at our lake property since 2005 and we adore it. It's paid for itself many times over.

I am an avid fan of this kid and have been for over 3 years. With that said, his number of members following his video postings is nowhere near what is required by equipment manufacturer's to offer him assistance with the use of free equipment.

I just found this channel and absolutely love it. This guy is just amazing. I cant stop watching his videos. He can do almost anything. And the most incredible thing is, he never cusses! Working on all these things I’d be cussing up a BLUE streak and he doesn’t get worked up one bit. He’s so down to earth and a real guy. He’d be great up on the Space Station. And I really mean that.

May I recommend that each time you have a connector apart, that you put a little dielectric grease in it - it will prevent corrosion, and help to maintain good electrical contact in the future. Perhaps the machine needs to be reset to accept the new controller better. Again, a great video.
Andrew, When you took the new controller out of the box you said it looked used. Perhaps it was returned by another customer for the same intermittent problem you are having with it. If Bobcat retested it it may have tested good even though it has an intermittent problem. You may have been sold a returned controller.

Yes, $1500 buys NEW not reconditioned, a typical tactic used to clear old or obsolete parts instead of supplying new. Talk to Bobcat and get them to bring out another part and fit it Free of Charge or if you could bring the loader to them get them to prove otherwise.

I work in a port where we have 2 Bobcat SkidSteers that go into the ship to clean in the ship and make it easier for the big crane. After 500 hours one had a stuck cylinder and a lot of electrical problems. Almost every day a service car from Bobcat is there. I think we will switch to Volvos now.
We also have 2 Bobcat telescopic wheelloaders with each 3 tons capacity. They have a central grease pump for all grease fittings and after 1000 hours there is already a lot of wear and play in the bushings.
But we also have a Volvo L110 also with central grease pump, it has 17.000 hours and there is no wear and nothing in it, engine running like on the first day.
my city has a modern industry park and an airport. we see many expensive farm vehicles and trucks by volvo, scania, MAN. the local companies know how to plan and budget. japan and south korea are all mountain. their durable, high-tech vehicles are good for andrew. i don't understand how any company can waste money on bad vehicles.
Bobcat is cheap. For the price of one Volvo Skidsteer you get two Bobcats nowadays.

I own a 2010 acs/sjc S-300 2 speed Bobcat and after the 3000 hour mark it really began burning through lift and tilt actuators. Like every 200 hours of operation (always at inconvenient times - night snow pushing etc.) here in Canada they cost about $1,300each. So, after replacing the fourth actuator in less than 800 hours, I pulled the hydraulic controller right out of the machine the body that the actuators bolt into, capped all the connectors and bought a re-seal kit because was hydraulic oil was getting passed the seals and submerging the electric motors in the actuators causing pre-mature failure. It's somewhat of a nuisance job but the machine now runs great and I had it tested at my local bobcat dealer and discovered the hydraulic pump to running at 93% efficiency still. Your video has helped me with a new problem where the run screen get's confused and will ask me to enter a password while the machine is still running but the controls and the machine still work perfectly fine. I bought the $800 service manual the mechanics use and it's helpful but a video of a guy actually doing the work is night and day better. What tools work, what doesn't, what to avoid etc. At almost 3,900 hours I didn't know that side panel slides up and the computer for the machine sits behind. Thanks again. Awesome Video!

I am a construction supervisor and had a contractor with a CAT skid steer doing a large septic system for a school, It sounded terrible and sounded like it had never been greased. The owner said he does nothing for maintenance, not even changing the oil or grease it, and after two years he trades it in for a new one. He said the old ones are shipped to Mexico. He claims he gets the same price for trade no matter the condition. Thanks for the great video's.

I grew up on the Coast in Oregon. My play grounds were the mountains. Had much the same type of upbringing moved heavy logs around to roll down hills along with big boulders. Growing up in the country, I learned how to drive equipment and vehicles early working on my friends dairy farms during the summer. A great way to grow up.
I have worked a lot with the Japanese in my work. I have the highest respect for their work ethics and attention to detail.

When I had an addition put on the house, the excavator contractor had all Bobcat equipment. About every second or third day, it would be quiet outside. I would look out the window and the hood would be up on the equipment and the guy would have tools out doing something to it. I always wondered if most equipment broke down that often. His equipment looked fairly new also which made it seem odd.
My stepfather & his partner had a Bobcat skid steer on their large Iowa farming operation from the late 70's to the early 90's that I drove a ton, it was dead reliable, & almost never broke down. It was still running fine when they traded it away, & it left me with a soft spot for Bobcat machines. But, the numerous friends & acquaintances I have in the earth-moving, landscaping, & heavy equipment businesses all tell me that Bobcat & other USA-made equipment have taken a long decline in quality & reliability. Like Andrew, most serious, full time operators now favor foreign machines, like Kobelco, Hitachi, Yanmar, etc. One guy I know is a city heavy equipment maintenance supervisor in his early 60's. He was a die-hard Caterpillar man for thirty-plus years, until the city he works for refused to buy any more Cat machines, because the high frequency & high cost of repairs far exceeded other foreign makes & models. Nearly broke his heart.
A neighbor just threw in the towel after many years selling for BobCat. He got fed up with the constant repair returns.
Without troubleshooting skill the chances of fixing things are almost zero and you may add some extra problem to the things or systems you are trying to repair, this guy is a genius, he knows the working concept of so many, from cell phones to his ten wheeler dump truck, he is a great troubleshooter, great fixer, great worker and best of all great fearless person when it comes to fixing whatever things, no hesitation and no fear of impossible.
Andrew, YOU look like you are about 22 to 28. I find ALL of your videos refreshing compared to those that drop swears like they are going out of style. You have respect for everyone from what I have seen on a very good majority of your videos. Your dogs are cool dogs. I am an animal lover and enjoy watching how you treat every dog you come across as if it was your own dog. Keep up the videos young man. You don't slather your videos with stories of how so-and-so did this or that or the other thing or run down your family or friends. Just keep on keeping on. Your channel is a RESPECTFUL channel. 10 thumbs up.
Good troubleshooting logic here. Electrical problems can be very difficult to fix. You have to think abstractly and it will determine the limits of your patience. Good job Andrew! Gonna have to get that code read by the dealer to find out what's going on or you might burn out the new controller.

My 2002 Bobcat 753G only has 700 hours, and it's always broke down.
My 1968 Cat D7E, 1986 Cat D4E, and 1976 Cat 225 track hoe always run..
I run older computer free trucks also for less downtime and expense.
My road truck is a 93 Peterbilt 379 with a Cat 3406b engine. My newest welding rig is a 1996 International 4700LP DT466 engine, 7 speed Spicer, 4wheel disc brakes. I've been pipelining over 50 years now, and highly recommend this truck.

I see a lot of comments suggesting sponsored equipment etc and I agree that Andrew has the goods to easily be sponsored. I also don’t disagree with other comments where there’s significant interest in watching someone diagnose, solve and repair problems themselves. Having my own skid steer (mostly personal use) made me quickly adapt and update my old school automotive knowledge for something that’s much more expensive to pay to repair. In Andrews case I believe a balance would be great for his channel that provides quite a dynamic of his business, life, love for dogs etc. Reliable equipment but not brand new so we still get to see the maintenance and periodic repair side of his business and he gets less frustration and down time. This is real life in all it’s sometimes frustrating glory that many of us can relate too. Great stuff Andrew.
One thing I have noticed from your videos on mechanical repair is that you think things thru logically and with good reasoning skills. I am constantly shocked at how many people today lack the ability to do that. Even many people with college degrees or technical degrees lack these skills. Success in life will always be found by those who can think and reason.

I give you a lot of credit for tackling electronic issues, they are the hardest to solve but you test your way through it. Keep the videos coming.

My friend just gave me an old M600 Bobcat .... It hasn't ran in over 22 years . It's has a gas , air cooled 25 or 30 Hp Wisconsin .I think it's a VH4D engine , the data tag is missing .I think I finally figured out the serial # to be a 495211205. I have to replace every hose on it including 90% of the steel lines . Just ordered a bunch of steel 1010 3/8 and 1/2 tubing , plus fittings . It gets expensive really quick . I did find the Bobcat parts breakdown and I got some books from Jensales . I know I should have walked away but as I was pulling the weeds and grass off of it and spraying all the frozen rusted up levers etc. Some of them broke lose like the steering levers etc.. I Pulled the plugs and shot some ACF-50 down the plug holes , Got the engine unstuck which actually seemed to be the clutch , then with battery power she turned over steady and easy . The clutches worked too. So I guess I got to excited about that and brought it home against my better judgement . Now in the process of disassembly , sandblasting and redoing everything . I have a budget set for it 5k . I hope this isn't unrealistic . of course that's with me doing all the work , blasting , bending , remove , replace , rebuild etc . . If it went to Bobcat it would be probably 50 or 60 k . no , I think they would junk it for sure . Anyway , Andrew if you read this let me know what you think . or anybody else . I can send you pictures of it . It looks really bad , but after looking at it close ,I think I can save it . Now with only 25 hp , probably not even enough power to push dirt , So I'll chaet and use my Backhoe to loosen it up first . But ,I just can't help myself .

@@axtra92 I totally agree - for more than one reason.
If you get a chance I would check ground for computer and anything going in and out of the control circuit for dirty or loose ground connections. Also would check total resistance of both solenoid circuits and see if one circuit has lower ohms than the other possibly intermittent ohm readings causing the computer to think something is wrong and tripping a fault. The likely hood that both computers are bad is rare. You might want to put the Bobcat in the garage where its warm so you can work on it better. If you have access to a megger or meg ohm tester it would be wise to disconnect everything electrical so as not to short anything out. Battery, computer, electronic devices,etc..
Listen to this man right here!! 2 computers bad? um probably not! When you removed the old one you could have inadvertently and very temporarily fixed an intermittent issue in the wire harness, ringing out continuity in a wire isn't the be all end all, the wire or more likely the wire's crimped connection to the Molex pin in the header could be breaking down once its put under DC load. AS he said, go to your heated garage and have someone help you troubleshoot: one guy operates the controls and you play around with those wire harness' and see if you can (re)duplicate the problem. Also, look up that fault code before you do anything and see what it means & spray those interconnects with contact cleaner after you confirm the failure.

In Louisiana most guys i know use John Deere 333's but i know some have Kabotas new holland, Case has a very great work history down here to try out Differentl skid loaders its not always the machine its how the dealer treats you after you purchase the equipment

I owned a takeuchi. They are fantastic machines. Very nice to operate. It never broke down. Only thing I ever had to do was change the tracks when they wore out. Your buddy is right. Take his advice and get one!

Nothing spells incompetence like the OEM misdiagnosing, replacing or for your case, mailing the wrong parts. I got hosed by Cummins. They diagnosed the ECM as faulty, replaced it and the problem was back a day later. That cost me just over $4000. Turns out it was the ABS module sending bad signals to it. No apologies, no acknowledgement of screwing up.I got totally shafted by the dealer and Cummins. Lesson learned, just because they're factory trained and make the product, it doesn't mean they know anything about it. I'm glad you able to diagnose it yourself. Bad ECM's are always the last resort and at times, a lucky guess.
Andrew, the company I work for has both a Takeuchi TL150 and aTL12. The TL150 is older machine but has had no problems at all, Takeuchi is very reliable. I run aTB260 mini-ex everyday and still no problems, it also has a Yanmar engine.

from my experience, CASE and KUBOTA skid steer, seem to never stop other then your general maintenance for them. They are a pain in the ass to repair when you have big hands and fingers. Good luck! and as always, great video!!!

It’s kind of soothing watching someone fix things instead of complaining. I’m sure that’s why you buy used equipment, because you’re not afraid or intimidated about the maintenance or repairs. I see Bobcats everywhere though, a shame they’re unreliable. Talk about the 4Runner!

I'm guessing maybe it was used. Someone else bought the controller, had this same issue, and send it back under warranty. They tested it, figured it seemed good, and re--sold it as new.
Intermittent electrical problems are the worst.
He did the right thing first, he cross exchanged the joysticks and the fault stayed on the right joystick. That makes it clear it is the sensor or micro switch at the right joystick that has a temporary fault.
Greta video, slap a couple of neodymium magnets on your skidsteer somewhere, so you always have them to hold parts up when working on it. Good on you for fixing it instead of buying new.
My buddy has a Takeuchi and I love it. I have a Bobcat 753 that I picked up from a vineyard. It works ok and doesn’t break except for hoses and maintenance so I can’t justify a new machine. If I was looking now, I would love to find a Takeuchi.

A meg ohm tester would stress the solenoid coils and possibly show a breakdown in the coil circuit. The solenoids might be OK but there could be a possible intermittent short in the wire harness at times. The Megger can stress the wire insulation and coil and show a fault if there is one. Intermittent problems are the hardest ones to solve as they only show up sometimes ....can be frustrating but solvable.
Get a Kubota SVL pilot controls not connected through a computer awesome power I have owned one for seven years just bought a new one Japanese machines are nice my first bobcat was a 1991 743b when I watch you running yours it really brings me back
$1500 for a $7 piece of aluminum and $1 of circuit boards. And it still breaks intermittently. Now I understand why you do NOT recommend Bobcat. Thank you for saving future me plenty of money.

Electronics have there place and have gotten better / more reliable over time, being a electronic part they are subject to fail, I personally like the non electronic control machines I can feel the bucket and boom better then the electronic pilot solenoid machines.
Buy what you are confident and comfortable with and having good dealer support / parts availability is always a plus.

Andrew takeuchi are excellent my local plant hire dealer use all takeuchi based in uk i own mini excavator tb260 and its excellent machine reliable and well made for sure its same with there engines made by yanmar there bullitproof
7:38 And this is the reason "Right to repair" has to be mandatory! I would bet the repair would something like $4 and an hour of work, but they put it in this "plastic" and you have to pay $1400 for whole new part!
Anyway few days ago I repair my tumble drier (electricly dead) - it was $2 in the parts and about half a hour of work. If I'd called service it would be something like $350 or I could buy new one for $900. Thankfully there was classic PCB and I was able to repair it.
I enjoy watching you more when you fix stuff than usually working ones. I gotta say the working videos str great too but I like more the fixing ones.
I have a Takeuchi TL12 track loader. No problems. Bought it for snowblower capability. Blower weighs 1400 lbs. I noticed you do not have a rotating head. A wonderful addition!!!!

I remember having the same exact problem with a bobcat that was maybe a year old at the time, It would just randomly stop and have to turn it off and on to get it to work, I remember getting the codes and talking with bobcat, I think it was an easy fix like resetting the computer or maybe it just fixed itself, I can't remember but its unfortunate that they have issues because they are so nice to run when they are working.
I think a re-flash might help

Bought a 125 John deer skid loader contental flathead 4 cyl gas rebuild motor using for private rc track seems like a good machine fun to run it's like therapy. Like your videos.
Toured Gwinner, North Dakota in latter 60's. Melroe Bobcat began there. Years later I applied for machinist and found they were union so stayed in CA. Andrew seems to continue using Bobcats despite calling them junk. All there was back then scooping out the massive meischt in barn.

Hey Andrew. We have Takeuchi machines and they are mind-blowing. The quality, comfort, power and most importantly the serviceability of Takeuchi products are superb. We have also have a Takeuchi TB285 8.5 tonne excavator which has been excellent. In fact, now have a TB260 6 tonne excavator from Takeuchi coming in a few weeks. I do however see your frustration in using computer-controlled machines however when it comes to a brand as reliable as Takeuchi, I think you need to give it a try. With our first Takeuchi machine, we had it on demo for a bit and nothing failed on it. I wish you the best of look finding your new machines :)

Ben W I hear ya! I have a Tl250 loader and TB153fr you can’t beat this machines! I’ve put 6700 hours on the loader and 3400 hours on the excavator! These things are tanks very strong and reliable!

That board isn't potted to protect it from water, it's potted to protect it from you doing non $1400 repairs.
The person that develops potting remover could get rich..
An "unpot" video, maybe a little heat, maybe just the right solvent, maybe a little jab at Bobcat and a little "right to repair commentary!!!
You're wrong. Have worked in an industrial sensor manufacturing facility as an engineer...that potting is for keeping out water. Look at the location of the computer! I bet it gets wet all the time.
If you have the patience, you can burn potting compound off with a heat gun and exacto blade. You can shave it off under heat.
Many times the PCB is coated in a conformal coating compound (think slippery silicone film) to prevent the potting from shearing components off the board as it dries and shrinks. As you get closer to the PCB, sometimes the potting compound will lift right off. Sometimes.
@@davec.3198 He is absolutely right! They fill it with black epoxy so you can't fix it and have to pay Bobcat $1400. You don't need to fill the can with black epoxy to waterproof it ffs.

Look at all industrial and OHV equipment. All potted. Fills all voids. It's cheap. Prevents moisture intrusion.

Ran a Takeuchi TL140 for 3 years in landscaping. Machine was neglected, (I wasn’t allowed to do anything to service it)poorly maintained, and was bought used from a rental company. Amazingly it never broke down while I was there except for a dead battery. My only issue with it was it was a really rough ride. After about 2 hours of use you would get some machine fatigue from all the banging around. I’m sure they have fixed that in the newer machines.
Great video! The amount of stuff that just rolls right off you back is amazing!!!! I do like that you rage quite bobcat after a fair trial!!! Use what works and pays the bills! Buy American if it is a comparable product......otherwise, buy what works! Maybe manufacturers will get the hint!

Love watching you vids. I do the same logical elimination stuff all the time. And agree about Yanmar reliablilty. We've had a little SV08-1 at our lake property since 2005 and we adore it. It's paid for itself many times over.
