Annie is a queen. A true artist. Not only one of the greatest singers of all time but she can write, act, and she has always been an activist. People wanted to BE HER.
"Here Comes The Rain Again," was a big hit worldwide when she was with Dave Stewart of The Eurythmics. I think you'd really enjoy her solo of "I Put A Spell On You."
Sweet Dreams is another side of her. Just in case this makes it easier, and therefore more likely you'll check it out (I doubt it, but can't blame me for tryin', lol) , here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/qeMFqkcPYcg/v-deo.html&ab_channel=EurythmicsVEVO
(The) Eurythmics are a must if you want to delve deeper into her music/art. You might vibe with them a bit better...not certain. "Sweet Dreams" would definitely be a good follow up to this track, 'cause it's a fairly crazy contrast. Her voice always shines not matter what, though. There's a commonality in the sense that there's a bit of a sinister vibe to both songs.
Annie Lennox!!! ❤ This song wasn’t one of her best by a long shot. It was my first time hearing it. Wait until you hear some of Annie’s banger songs!! ❤ Listen to “Sweet Dreams”
Couldn't agree less. It's different from those above which are all Dave Stuart and Annie Lennox (as the Eurytmics) except for the Whiter Shade of Pale which is a cover. Her own stuff is mostly less poppy (and possibly catchy) but none the worse for that. It's rich, deep and may take longer to "get" but superb.
I never heard Anita Baker until you mentioned it, I hear it now. I've lived in L.A. a long time and work at a studio, so celebrities don't impress me much. About 15 years ago I was having dinner at a packed Dan Tana's before a Liz Phair show and Annie Lennox walked in and was seated right behind me, our chairbacks were so close they were touching. I was verklempt.
"Diva", the album this song is on is easily in my top 5 of all time. Check it out for yourself, you won't be disappointed. She and Bonnie Raitt are my 2 favorite female singers.
So glad you got round to Annie Lennox. She's a brilliant woman - artist, singer, writer, and political activist. I've recommended her to so many reactors, but I always get ignored! The album this comes from is "Diva" and every track is a killer.
There’s nothing like Annie Lennox. Her voice… ooooohhhh. Love that you included her with the greats. 😊. So so many great songs from this lady vocalist.
I grew up hearing her pop work. Later, I remember hearing her sing something in another genres and was blown away. She has a voice that she could sing about anything.
you cannot go wrong with Annie Lennox. she is one of the great artists of our times. an incredible singer, songwriter, artist, musician, activist, human being.
Annie Lennox is one of the great female voices of the past 40 years. She was the voice of The Eurythmics the most iconic pop duo of the 1980s. Check them out, too and her solo stuff like Cold is amazing. Her lyrics and musicality, as well as her cinematography is amazing. She sis the title song of BRAM STOKER'S Dracula, also one of the three songs for the Lord Of The Rings trilogy.
Annie like myself from Aberdeen Scotland, i remember her when she hung about a shop in Aberdeen city centre called the other record shop when she was in band called the tourists, stunning beautiful down to earth woman, and such a voice so proud of her achievements 🫡👍🏴
I'm from Edinburgh and every time I hear Annie speak or sing I immediately pick up on her Aberdonian accent. I'm convinced it is one of the major contributers to her uniqueness, particularly the vowels. Along with all her other skills of course. Btw we also had an Other Record Shop in Edinburgh.
Annie is absolutely one of the best female singers ever in my opinion. She's capable of such soulfulness and huskiness while also being so soft and tender. She did an AWESOME duet of "Under Pressure" with David Bowie at the 1992 tribute to Freddie Mercury. It's 100% worth checking out.
Annie Lennox has a mesmerizing voice, and her band the Eurythmics put out some great music. I haven't heard a lot of her solo work, but I'm not surprised that it's amazing as well.
Annie is an Icon, and a Voice that's unmistakable!!! She is very Theatrical also, which is something many Artist can't do! Those Eyes.....and expressions! Love Her, hope She's in the RHofFame!
Annie Lennox was born on December 25, 1954 in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, UK. She is a music artist and actress, known for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003), Scrooged (1988) and Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992).
Annie Lennox is an incredible singer that left performing to be a humanitarian and philanthropist. My admiration for her is quite significant. She had a ton of hits, and did a stunning cover of A Whiter Shade of Pale. Look her up and listen to almost anything. You're not likely to be disapointed.
Love Annie! Fun song "I need a man!" Would I lie to you!!! When I think I need a bit of a fun few songs I play these two! Course she has tons of songs I love! But I sure get a kick out of these two!
SHE'S LOST 😳 SCARED🥺 OVERWHELMED😩 HIDING in the shadows🌌 going MAD🤯 after LOSING the 😍LOVE OF HER LIFE after GIVING HIM ALL SHE HAD & WAS, REMEMBERING THE ECSTASY🤩 of being in his arms. SHE'S UTTERLY BROKEN. 😭💔 THAT'S what COLD (numb in SHOCK😳) is about the DEATH ⚰ of her DREAMS🥰.
Annie Lennox... one of the greatest and most charismatic female artists in Music ever. She literally gives me chills every single time I hear her unique and so iconic voice. Her duo with Dave Stewart, as EURYTHMICS, is probably the best of all times, in terms of innovation, originality and, of course, musicality. Annie Lennox. Definitely legendary.

Do yourself a favor and listen to the entire DIVA album. I can't tell you how many times I bought it. Played it out over and over again. I saw her perform in Hershey PA. Love me some Annie!
You should hear her sing Would I lie to you. Kinda bluesy, kinda jazzy, playful. I've always loved her voice. Not so much her synth pop hits but this and quite a few others.
I think you would really enjoy her catalog. It’s definitely worth it! I’ve always been a fan of her music. She reminds me of Sade. Not that they sound alike but just mellow, beautiful voices.

I've LOVED ANNIE LENNOX for YEARS - SO GLAD that you gave this one a CHANCE! She has AMAZING VOCALS and I've loved her for years!! LOVE her music: SO MUCH!! She's excellent, solo, and was excellent with The Eurythmics, in my opinion!! ENJOY, POLO!!
I've listened to a number of Annie Lennox's performances but never this song. So I was discovering it along with you. Your comparison of her to Anita Baker is spot on. I hadn't thought of it before, but as soon as you said her name I thought "of course." Annie Lennox and Anita Baker are both accomplished altos capable of maintaining a rich, complex sound with subtlety of shading all across their vocal range. They are both expressive singers with great enunciation. You don't have to struggle to understand the words. They are both kind of old school, for lack of a better term, in how they perform a song. They have both clearly listened attentively to and learned from their musical forebears in a range of genres, from classical, to jazz, to gospel, and so on. However, they do give off rather different vibes. Anita Baker is a romantic who sings of love and fidelity. She would be the last person you would ever suspect of being about to turn into a vampire. Annie Lennox does have her romantic side, but she is a lot more all over the place in the kinds of personas she evokes and the moods she conveys.
I. ADORE. ANNIE LENNOX… Her first two solo albums - Diva and Medusa - are sooo GOOD! SUGGESTIONS: “Walking On Broken Glass” and “Little Bird” Official Music Videos ALSO “I Need A Man” (Eurythmics) Official Music Video

I've always loved Annie Lennox's "Why"... it's the ultimate break up song, with some surprisingly honest self-reflection, and of course, her theatrical persona on full display (and in glorious color.) It's a very feminine video, though, and highlights the female tendency toward self-absorption and vanity... yet beautiful! In fact, now I have to go watch it again right this minute.

That video was iconic

Definitely. I think hers is the best version of that song.
@donnabrann2725 AGREED! She did an amazing job on "I Put A Spell On You."

"Would I lie to you" - very upbeat Eurythmics!
I think that one would definitely make the 4Runner.
Funny you thought she was turning into a vampire -
She wrote and recorded the theme song for the film, BRAM STOKERS DRACULA ; Love Song For Vampire.
You beat me to it! YES-he should definitely check out Love Song for A Vampire.

I have always loved her! Annie was classically trained and attended the Royal Academy. Not bad for a little Scottish girl.
The Tourists 1979 was my intro to the glorious Annie Lennox, the band being formed 1976. It's a deep, deep rabbit hole and one heck of a journey.
"No More I Love You's" is also an incredible journey for your ears.
