  • Have you ever noticed that symbol that seems to appear at the end of every movie? If you watch the closing credits right to the end, there are often a few logos that you see, and this one is almost always one of them. But what is it? And what does it represent?
In this video I answer this burning question. The explanation to this is twofold. First, it represents a group of people. But it is also based upon a specific part that can be found in many movie projectors. This little piece changed the face of motion pictures forever!
I have been a big movie enthusiast since I was a boy. It is a hobby and passion that has given me much enjoyment over the years. I feel that movies can inspire, motivate, inform and really show us all the beauty and insecurity that are part of the human experience.
I am also quite a fan of old movie cameras and old projectors. Over the years I have owned 8mm projectors, Super8, 16mm and a variety of movie cameras. Back in the 90s I went to film school which was a very positive experience for me. I recall shooting student films with an old Bell and Howell 16mm camera. And editing these films on an old splicer.
What movies do you enjoy? Do you have a favorite director or actor? Is there a genre that you really enjoy? What is your all-time favorite movie?
On this channel I post videos relating to retro and vintage technology. Things like cassettes, CDs, old cameras, laser disc, radios, TVs, DVDs, vinyl, VCRs, home recording gear, microphones, mixers, synthesizers, drum machines, video games, and so much more. Pretty cool actually. I always assumed that it was just some generic symbol. But it's also based on a real mechanical sprocket!
