What Is Better : CDs or Vinyl? : What I Really Think

For many decades now, there has been a debate over which music format is better, CDs or vinyl. There are passionate arguments on either side of the debate. Many folks from either side seem absolutely convinced that they are correct. Often, folks will refer to science, and how specs prove that their choice is the right one.
In this video, I argue that specs, stats and data have NOTHING to do with personal preference. Your opinion is just that, your opinion. You are entitled to like what you like. This isn't a competition. It may be true that according to science, one format may have better dynamic range than the other. But that doesn't mean that you will not find the one with lesser dynamic range more appealing to your ears.
This is purely subjective, like arguing about what soft drink is better, or what fast food restaurant is the best. There is no right or wrong when we are talking about opinion.
I have mentioned many times on this channel that my preferred format for music is CDs. To me, compact discs are the cleanest, purest way to listen to my favorite music. But that doesn't mean I dislike vinyl. In fact, I quite like vinyl. But just not as much as CDs. They are just two different ways of hearing music. Either one has its own advantages and disadvantages.
There is a presence to records, a feeling that is very unique and irreplaceable. I love that quality. But having said that, I still prefer the crispness and clarity of CDs. Again, it's not about one being better than the other. It's about listening to the one that is most pleasing to YOU.
I got my first compact disc player 33 years ago. Since then I have purchased hundreds of CDs. It is a format that I love and clutch to my heart. But having said that, I also love collecting vinyl. There are hundreds of old and obscure recordings that were released on vinyl over the decades that have still never been released digitally and probably never will. So in that sense, I can definitely appreciate the value of vinyl.
