Me too. It always amazes me that pumpkins are not popular in the north hemisphere. My UK family thought it was unusual to great excited over pumpkin soup. Ps from QLD 🇦🇺
Yes as an Aussie I am baffled why US and UK just throw them. I have asked the question above and we shall see if any one can give me a feasible response. Good on you, or should I say 'us', as I do the same and never ever throw pumpkin away. Maybe they are cheaper in the US, unlike here ,where Woolies is charging almost $13 for a half sized pumpkin!!!.
Usually carving/decorative pumpkins are bred differently from pumpkins bred for consumption. They don't have nearly as much flesh and the taste and texture are not as good. You can buy roasting pumpkins in the US during the fall they're just not the same thing.
@@dorisdaylight8415 We actually consume quite a bit of pumpkin in the US, but not all pumpkins are bred for consumption. Some types are purely ornamental because they are bitter and tough. I'm not sure which ones she has.

Yes, your lemon will ripen be sure to put it on a paper bag no plastic and they will last longer even if you use a brown paper bag in the refrigerator to get the maximum link of the orange after ripening! Your friend Gerri try this ice I swear by it and then the other thingis if you buy fresh bananas take just playing wax warm it in the microwave and dip the stock of the bananas in wax and they will last longer! These are some good tips. My grandmother taught me your friend Gerri.
Harvest the pumpkin seeds and plant some next year late spring to grow your own for fall. Cade will love to watch them grow. I grew one giant pumpkin this year and I’m harvesting all the seeds for next year ❤️
To help distribute the heat to the downstairs too, close all of the upstairs vents. Open all of the downstairs vents. This will force heat to the lower level. Heat rises and will eventually warm the upstairs.
I grew up in Italy and my grandparents still have a beautiful fireplace that my grandpa built. I remember how much I enjoyed roasting chestnuts with him on it or just spend time with family around it! It’s so cozy! And you’ll have that in TWO rooms! Amazing!✨💖
Your fireplace will definitely heat your home, but I just wanted to share a fun fact that I learned in architecture school- when you have a fire going, it takes the air from within your house to keep the fire going, and then the majority of the warm air goes up through the chimney. This air going up, leaving your house, creates negative pressure within your home and air from outside is pulled in through any/all of the cracks and crevices in your windows, around your front door, etc. and actually brings in cold air from outside. I was mind blown when I learned this!
My 1926 cottage has the chimney on an exterior wall. At the bottom of the brick chimney, where you put the logs, there’s a grate that pulls cold air up from bellow. When I go outside at the base of the brick chimney there’s another metal grate with a door. This is where you clean out the ashes and obviously the area where the cold air from outside come in to keep the fire going. I wonder if these also pull cold air into the house like you mentioned ? 🤔
We have a wood burning fireplace also, and I love it! I never burn wood though, I use the Duraflame logs. Dont buy the cheap kind or outdoor campfire mind, they will make your area smell weird. I usually only use one, and it allows me to have a beautiful, more controlled fire for about three or four hours, without the worries of sparks, or alot of extra heat, it just gives so much safe ambiance during the holidays, or early morning with my coffee, or in the evening, before I go to bed and not have to worry about the wood, since it only lasts 3 or 4 hours. Though I always keep the vent open until fire is completely done and totally cold ash, and I put an additional, portable screen up when I go to bed, just in case. I'm excited for you...enjoy !!!
I have an eco fireplace that is superefficient because it has a double walled chimney. The inner tube draws outside air in to provide oxygen to fuel the fire and the smoke goes up the outer tube. All the air exchange/pressure change happens inside the chimney and firebox so it's all contained. As the cold outside air is drawn down the inner tube it's surrounded by the hot air in the outer tube and by the time it reaches the firebox it's super-heated. Usually when you burn wood it gives off gasses that go straight up the chimney but with mine when the super-heated oxygen rich air hit those gasses they ignite so you get extra heat from the gas. I got talked into spending about 2k more than I'd planned to when I replaced my old fireplace but I've never regretted it, I use a third less wood than a traditional fireplace, so it's more than paid for itself in the 8 winter I've used it.
My mom called my speed cleaning "Flight of the Bumblebees" 😂 cuz she would always hear that piece in her mind as she watched me frantically organize and vacuum and light candles, LOL.
Yes MaCenna the lemons will ripen off vine..Love the lemona and orange tree..We have a big black wolf the size of ia deer in our area we are worried about..
The roots of the mums are probably still alive, we have been able to save most of our "crispy" mums over the years, We just trimmed off all the crispy stuff and watered enough to keep them alive and put them in the ground. It will help next year if you keep them watered daily. Next year wipe down the pumpkins with some Clorox water and they most likely will be good at last a few weeks longer than this year...might survive until Thanksgiving. Your porch was beautiful. :)
Yes ! I was reading the comment section wondering why nobody mentioned THIS IS FOOD :D It is delicious in soups or cooked in the oven with feta and chickpeas !
Having ur fireplace serviced is going to prove so warm and cozy on those rainy cold nights and days. Especially with the holidays coming up. Happy cuddle sessions.

Sweet MaCenna I love your enthusiasm and energy! Please take care of yourself. burnout is real and things become so much more when you have a little one.
Something cute you could do on signs, cards, etc from Cade is to trace his little hand. It makes a sweet keepsake as he grows. I used to do this before my daughter could sign her name.
Yes, I traced my daughter's hand and used as a stencil to cut two hands from felt to whip stitch together and stuffed with a bit of polyester fill. Glued a felt heart on the palm on one side, wrote the year on the other side with fabric paint. Strung a ribbon through the top stitch on the middle finger (ha!) to hang on the tree. It makes me smile every year remembering how little her hand was. She's 31 now! ❤
Perhaps you could use your skills and build a potting table to sit against that wall. One with a shelf below to store your pots. Cade seems like the perfect baby. Always happy. So sweet.

Taking care of house maintenance is sooooo important! Good balancing family, house, work and you. It’s ok to put”you” in front of the list now and then. But it is a blessing to have a life full of love.

A lot of that winter squash is edible, very good in fact. And citrus, it ripens in winter. Yay. 🍋🍊 Those lemons will turn yellow eventually, two are beginning I think. 🫶🏼
As a native Minnesotan, nothing brings the cozy factor up in winter like the crackle of a wood burning fire ❤ many great memories spent chatting by the fireplace
My husband’s birthday is also November 5th and we did everything he wanted to do as well! ❤ luckily for me what he wanted to do was antiquing!! Happy belated birthday to Romeo!! 🎉
You are going to enjoy using the Duraflame logs. You'll still need to professionally clean the fireplace as creosote will build up inside the chimney. We used Duraflame logs for many years, then switched to gas logs. There are many styles and varieties of "wood logs" to choose from when using gas. Enjoy your cozy family evenings!
I ended up going gas, too. Fire at a touch of the remote whenever you want one. And no staying up, waiting or the fire and embers to die down so you feel safe enough to go to bed. Just another press on the remote! And no clean up of messy ashes, etc
my husband and I show each other cards that we would give each other while at store...then we save the money to go get something else we want..anyone else do this? we have been married for 23 yrs. you should consider a gas or electric insert for your fireplace..leaf guards for the gutters will help too..love the furniture
The lemons are doing better this year because of all of the love you and your family have put into the home & property ☺️💛 They are vibin' I love and appreciate your videos, thank you for sharing with us!!
I have a wood burning fireplace. It's amazing. When you have the service people come ask them to put a screen to the top of the chimney. It prevents any animal to get in.
RE: Gardening…I would highly encourage you to start. I didn’t start until 3 years ago when we bought a house in Los Angeles county, and I find it very rewarding. My 3 top tips are: 1. Walk around your neighborhood and see what others have planted. I have found that the soil in my area does not support certain plants, so I elected to plant our yards in containers and raised beds. 2. Go to your local nursery (I use Armstrong) and see what they offer in the way of plants: if it grows there, it should grow in your yard. 3. Some plants grow in full sun/partial sun/shade. Pay attention to this and plant accordingly. Good luck!
Plus I believe it is the law in California. I’ve never liked to look but certainly better than the consequences plus criminal charges after such a horrific tragedy!!
Espoma has a full line of organic fertilizer so you could cut back geraniums and then fertilize for a glorious floral display. They also have rose and citrus fertilizer too. Their products are my favorite cuz they work so well.
A daily walk around your garden and noticing what is growing and how is a great practice on your gardener journey. I would also look at what you like in your neighbour’s gardens
I would build a whole storage system on that side of the house getting rid of the pool shed all together. If it's housing the pump I recommend having them put it in the ground and getting a cover! That's what we did with ours!
You’re very busy macenna! I’d order a slim garden shed to go in that side of house area. Paint it with outdoor stain and it would be great for your storage and ready to go rather than having to build it from scratch yourself. Make it easy on yourself !! xxx
Storage cabinet: You want to be careful when any structure is against your exterior wall, even a window box. If water is running against the wall or trapped behind the box, you can degrade your exterior wall.
🌾 I wish I had your way of life with loving parents and a wonder loving man like Romeo, good education and beautiful homes you have so much to be thankful 🙏 for. I have following you for years and you keep that little spark of hope in my soul going. Thank you for the inspiration you have given all of your fans and the people that absolutely adore you. 🍁 Happy Holidays 🪵 to you and your wholesome family. Keep shinning 🍂 Happy Birthday Romeo
Happy Happy Nov 5 Birthday to Romeo!! It was mine as well:) We spent it similarly, just a hang out day with family. I also really loved the energy of this particular vlog! So joyful and exciting to follow you around and be a part of your days from afar. Congrats on your upcoming candle launch, I’m excited to place my order again!
Happy birthday Romeo!!!! May the coming years be filled with happiness, and with more love and joy. Maccena, As for the lemons, take them inside, where they get sun if possible so they can ripen.
I am in Orange County, CA and I use our gas fireplace all the time! I love it. It is the reason I bought the house but to have it inspected and completely resurfaced inside all the way up was several thousands of dollars but so worth it.
You don’t want to the Durrell logs all the time because they’re made out of wax and sawdust a the best wood to use is any hard wood and when start the fire use wood chips not paper if you have pine cones are great fire starters
Really wish you would come out with a wax melt line of your candle scents. We had a fire in our home several years ago so we are very wary of having anything with an open flame in our home, but we love wax warmers and have several throughout our home. I would love to be able to experience the different scents in your line, they seem like they would be so lovely. Food for thought.😊
that is a good idea..also wanted to suggest for you to look into a lamp candle warmer, they are wonderful i dont like to have lighted candles so i invested in several of the lil lamps AND they make some w/timer function so you never have to worry💕

Those lemons will turn yellow eventually, two are beginning I think. 🫶🏼
Such great escape from reality, watching your vlogs 🙌🏼
As a native Minnesotan, nothing brings the cozy factor up in winter like the crackle of a wood burning fire ❤ many great memories spent chatting by the fireplace
Happy birthday, Romeo❤
My husband’s birthday is also November 5th and we did everything he wanted to do as well! ❤ luckily for me what he wanted to do was antiquing!! Happy belated birthday to Romeo!! 🎉
loveeeee thatttttt!!!!!
Hi, I’m exhausted just listening to everything you’re doing and planning. Take time for yourself and just enjoy each day. Luv to you all. Xx 😘
You seem so excited in this video. Love the chatting. Good vibes!
Happy birthday Romeo🎉🎉🎉. I love chatty MaCenna!!
The lemons are doing better this year because of all of the love you and your family have put into the home & property ☺️💛 They are vibin'
I love and appreciate your videos, thank you for sharing with us!!
I have a wood burning fireplace. It's amazing. When you have the service people come ask them to put a screen to the top of the chimney. It prevents any animal to get in.
Thank you, MaCenna, for shouting out us Moms! It is a tough job, my one and only child Noah is 22 years old! Time flies! 😊
3rd year? Wut? It's been that long? Wow, time flies! You're doing vlogmas? YEAH!!! No pressure but YEAH!!!!! Happy Birthday, Romeo!!
The mum club is no joke! I joined 6 weeks ago 😅 I salute all mums out there 🫡
Happy Belated Birthday Romeo! Today is my husband’s 75th Birthday!
Happy Birthday 🎉 Romeo, hope you had a great day with your wonderful family!
oh my gosh I need about 8 oz's of your energy!!!!
Love the way the patio is coming along. Save yourself work, and purchase gutter guards. You won’t have to worry about clogged gutters.
Will you be decorating the cottage for Christmas? I miss that lovely place.....so classic and timeless.
Happy Birthday Romeo❤🎂🍰🍨🍦🍮I hope you have had an amazing day with your little family. Cade’s first birthday with his Daddy❤❤❤❤❤
I can tell you live in the Valley because of the zoo in your backyard. I love that there is still a lot of wildlife around. ❤
You can take your pumpkins to the nature.Wildlife centers and they will feed them to pigs or to deer or to wild animals that eat pumpkins
Those pumpkins, the turban ones, will last a year or two. Mine have.
You can also look up places that take pumpkins for animals.
I can’t wait to see how you will transform the secret garden into a truly magical place.
To further avoid flooding this year - pump out a lot of water from your pool and have that space available for rain water to collect.
Cordless leaf blower for gutters…a must for me. We also have gutter guards
Yes. That makes it so much easier to clean
I must have been doing it wrong! 😂 I agree with Leaf Guard gutter guards. Best thing ever!
I totally understand manual therapy! My happy place is at my workbench smelling wood ❤
Good luck!
Happy Birthday to Romeo 🎉🎉🎂🎂...may he enjoy many more years together with your beautiful little family.
You need a fence for the pool, Cade will soon be crawling around
She already has a fence. If anything, she can get a net. My ingrown pool wasn’t covered growing up. My parents actually watched me so I didn’t die.
@@tinytina2098 death from pool drowning is very real and far too frequent. Better to be safe.
Plus I believe it is the law in California. I’ve never liked to look but certainly better than the consequences plus criminal charges after such a horrific tragedy!!
Try looking into leaf guards. They help out alot with keeping most of the debris out of the gutters 😉
Make the pumpkins into a snowman! You could stack them and paint them to look like one!
Espoma has a full line of organic fertilizer so you could cut back geraniums and then fertilize for a glorious floral display. They also have rose and citrus fertilizer too. Their products are my favorite cuz they work so well.
What you discribe as therapy is actually meditation 😊✨
xo from Paris!
Happy Belated Birthday Romeo!!🥳
I hope it was great! You share a Birthday with my sweet Momma. 😊
A daily walk around your garden and noticing what is growing and how is a great practice on your gardener journey. I would also look at what you like in your neighbour’s gardens
Absolutely agree with another comment for sure squeeze your lemon I do my in ice trays and then bag them for when I need them love your vlogs❤🇨🇦
I would build a whole storage system on that side of the house getting rid of the pool shed all together. If it's housing the pump I recommend having them put it in the ground and getting a cover! That's what we did with ours!
You can use the pumpkins to make bread, soup, gnocchi, quiché, etc
I just love your teddy sweater so much, looks so comfy !
Yeyyyy Macenna vlogmas is coming!!! ❤
If you haven’t thrown your mums away….you can plant them and they will bloom beautifully in your home garden.
Happy happy Birthday Romeo! 💙💙 You're family is beautiful- God bless you all! 🙏🙏
Happy birthday Romeo!!!! May the coming years be filled with happiness, and with more love and joy.
Maccena, As for the lemons, take them inside, where they get sun if possible so they can ripen.
The pumpkins would look nice stacked in (at the top of) the two urns---large to small---flanking the door.
@smooch862 thanks so much for the suggestion. I'll have to look into that.
A helpful time saving tip. Use your leaf blower for your rain gutters. It makes it so easy.
I'm glad it works for you. For me, it was a nightmare. All it does is blow it everywhere and then you have a bigger mess right where everyone can see it and it's harder to clean up.
